Genuine criticism but your script could be better. You say 'dark' a lot - "This episode gets dark" "Has a dark vibe" "Dark themes "Darkest part", quite repetitive. With the title also, I was expecting this to be a review and dive into an episode or two, not a heavily summarized list of various episodes that all get described as "dark." Expand on why each episode (or a moment in the episode) is dark. Is it dark because it's played seriously? Is it creepy or has a terrifying premise? Or it's simple on surface but the more you think about it, the more questions rise with some concerning implications, etc.
the darkest episode is a dark episode which is dark cause its a dark episode where dark turns lead to dark consequences where the dark episodes tend to get dark with the darkest parts of the dark episode basically gets darker
Some criticism here, you've gotta look up synonyms for the theme of videos man. Instead of saying "dark" repeatedly you could say things like unnerving, unsettling, disturbing, grim, bleak, dystopian, creepy, etc. Also those aren't aliens in Rock Bottom, just deep sea fish. One of them leaving the bathroom was even just a straight up gulper eel
It shows how even living a “perfect” life and having too much happiness can lead to depression. All roads lead back to inevitable sadness no matter how we try to avoid it. So yeah, it is pretty dark
Spongehenge was the scariest episode of spongebob ever, even as a child i understood the plot especially at the end, when i noticed spongebob growing hair and get older that made me realize we won't be young forever and also realizing that everyone you know and everyone that will be will die and at the ending bruh even the tune that came outta spongebob messed me up now when i hear that tune i get ptsd and somehow that was the first and last spongebob episode that gave me nightmares for two days.
That's so weird how the "turning into a snail" part got scrapped..it wasn't as bad as the episode where he sneaks into the Krusty Krab and gets gasoline poured on him and set on fire with a random match. That is genuinely weird.
You missed some like Toy Store of Doom, The Krabby Patty Creature Feature, Professor Squidward, a Pal for Gary, SquidBob TentaclePants, Boating Buddies, ETC
"Clams" had Mr. Krabs at his most psychotic, trapping Spongebob and Squidward on a ship without food until they find his millionth dollar. While "Out of the Picture" had Krabs try to kill Squidward it was 100% black comedy, while Clams was more serious. "Bubble Trouble" had sandy suffocate in a serious way, unlike "Pressure". She gets woozy and starts hallucinating in a realistic way.
No hate is intended with this comment, just blunt criticism. The extreme overuse of the word “dark/darker” is infernally painful to the ear and really brings the script for this video down. I couldn’t really bear to finish the video as a result. You should have used more anaphoras like creepy, unsettling, graphic, disturbing, jarring or any other synonym where appropriate so that the script isn’t so overly reliant on one word.
1:11 Man...so that wasn't just a nightmare...dw you're not the only one who found that creepy Edit: I was a teenage Gary was also really creepy to me...I remember Spongebob's voice getting extremely deep at one part, and while I hope that was just me misremembering it, both that and the turning into a snail thing scared the living heck out of me.
RED MIST ISN'T REAL!!!!!it's a creepy pasta, someone made it up. It was never written. The so called Nickelodeon employee who "keaked" it never existed. It was never a "lost episode" the story was made up just like Slenderman and Jeff the Killer. So yeah Red Mist doesn't belong on this or any list because it was never a real thing. It doesn't exist and never has
Terrible list terrible script you listed why an episode was dark then go on to say well I know that wasn’t that dark but it gets better essentially. In short do better
I think a great "dark" episode is the butterfly one. Mostly because of the close-ups we get of the butterfly's face and a very loud buzzing sound. Which ironically enough didn't scare me as a kid, but as an adult is grounds for soiled pants.
I don't really think To Save a Squirrel was a terrible episode like you said, I actually liked it and thought the twist was funny. We get so many episodes without twists it's fun when they show up.
The lost episode part i find that kind of unsettling too, i don't know why but i always found those moments where nothing happens like theirs a lack of music creepy. For example in old movies where the main character doesn't say anything he just stands their and the movie isn't supposed to be horror is just unsettling to be honest.
fun fact that clip of spongebob walking making those weird faces , yeah i saw that often at the end of episodes on my spongebob dvd set when i was younger lol def didn’t weird me out either
You missed the episode, "Have you seen this snail," the one where gary goes missing and some old lady takes him in, and we find out later that this lady has been killing her pets, scariest scene is seeing empty snail shells everywhere
The planet of the jellyfish allways reminded me of old sci fi films from the 50s, and HP Lovecraft, i can't remember which film this was but when i was a kid i watched this one film where this alien comes to earth and takes the neighbor away and then the alien pretends to be the neighbor until various characters get affected by the alien. Hp lovecraft also has these moments with the pods, the strange people, and the alien/demon manipulating everyone. One example is color out of space where an alien or demon starts to manipulate the whole family of a farm, making everything change around them in horrific ways that i can't even explain.
yea that 0:07 dimention fromt hat episode still freaks me out becuase its like idk how to explain it but also understand if was born native in that dimention then THIS dimention we are in would be freaky to them. if ever go lucid try to noclip or teleport super far away to see some really "gliched up" stuff.
In the rock bottom episode the fish aren’t aliens, just simply deep sea fish which look way different bc of their adaptations to no light. Hints the huge drop off of the road and the name “rock bottom”
The animals in the Rock Bottom episode aren't supposed to be aliens I'm sure. They're most likely to be deep sea fish (because, have you *seen* these mofos?)
Yo Alex just posted a new Spongebog theory comp with rankings and mini theories, but he also put ten unsolved theory leads in the vid, maybe you could look at those?
I'm pretty sure Squidward turns into a snail from snail plasma because SpongeBob calls the doctor to for Gary and he give them said snail plasma. SpongeBob is sqimish so he has Squidward to inject Gary but misses and hits SpongeBob eventually they turn into snails. Or at least that's what I remember and I watch that episode more than any other SpongeBob episode.
I disagree about Planet Of The Jellyfish not being funny. The “one krabby patty, hold the mayonnaise” bit is probably one of the funniest scenes in the dark age era
i was about to bring up Squid Baby but then i remember that the episode itself isnt dark, its just fucked up for existing. yeah getting a head injury and having then the mind of a literal baby is a dark concept, but a) because of this plot and the instant nature of it we see nothing from squidwards pov of it, and also the bigger problem of the episode is that spongebob and patrick are just absolutely stupid in it. well that and that this episode easily could be someones fetish porn.
What do you mean myth? Squidward really did turn into a snail. Also, I don't think the animation of Spongebob walking is a lost episode, I've definitely seen that clip on TV plenty of times while I was growing up.
