Did you end up testing the range for the slaves? I'm wondering how far these reach? My original Both lighting 6x18w cube uplights (2015) have terrible range, maybe 20 ft from the master to any slave, so it was useless.
Thanks for watching! That’s interesting to know and yeah 20 feet is pretty useless. I haven’t had a gig yet where I’ve been able to do a full on range test to test the limit, but in my testing so far it’s most definitely more than 20 feet on these thankfully. Maybe I will just range test it outdoors and make a video later this week! Stay tuned!
As promised, I tested the range and just uploaded my results! I am super impressed!! Here's the link to my range test: ua-cam.com/video/N6bsYTbeovk/v-deo.html Hope that helps!!
Quick question... I have to buy more uprights. I already own the Both IR-4's. I'd rather get more Both lights, but the price on them has dramatically increased. I was thinking about getting the Rockville version because they're cheaper. Plus, I liked what I saw, when I saw them in action. Is it possible to sink the Rockville up-lights with the Both up-lights ??
Just ordered mine, will be running with soundswitch on my Denon prime go and denon prime 4. I do have rockville wedge and rockville best strip 60. Love the battery powered lighting.
You will love them!! Especially since you will be running with DMX, you’ll really love the full dmx functionality on these. Great choice. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching again 2L!! This IR4 has some nice features built into the master slave mode that I was impressed by. Having an RF remote along with the master slave functionality would have been nice but can’t have it all - the app is a nice consolation prize for not having an RF remote though haha. I’m looking forward to seeing your next video!
Nice walk through on the lights. One thing, with the lights working on 2.4 ghz. You want to download a wifi signal analyzer to put them on a channel that wifi is not on. That helps with the interface on 2.4 ghz.
@@tbmproductionsdj1 I actually have tuned in before! Your show is great! I must have missed the one on the signal analyzer. I’m going to try to catch the show tomorrow night if I can!
Good review. Thanks for the shoutout! I didn’t know how to explain how the IR4 makes a wireless signal 😂 literally loading up on my way to a wedding. Thanks Pete
@@MrDJMikieMike the Rockville’s are called the Rockville Mini RF4s! Both Lighting is the manufacturer for all of them, but also sell their own lights called the IR4. Both Lighting does sell their own RF4 as well but they’re an older version of the Rockville’s.
Hello. Nice review. I am wondering if battery duration in those lights can be extended with so called "Barrel Jack Adapter - USB to 5.5mm" and power bank on other end? Any experience there? Thanks for answering.
@@25dadek25 Thank you for watching! Unfortunately I don’t have personal experience trying a power bank or that adapter, but what I can say is that these lights do function while being charged, as I have frequently plugged them into a wall to be charged while still using the light during an event. So I would assume that the same would work if you were to charge the light using a power bank while using the light to effectively extend the battery duration, granted that you are using a power bank with enough power! Hope that helps!
Peck! Thanks for watching man! Absolutely they’re great for those looking for a cheap alternative to Ape Labs, or looking to downsize their uplights. I’ve been loving your recent videos about your thought process at gigs. Thanks for sharing all the knowledge man!!
That's why you should have gone for the RF4 lights instead of IR4... IR needs to be directed directly to the lights. I have the RF4 and they accept the remote even in seperate rooms....
Thanks for watching! That’s impressive that you’re getting that kind of range with the Both RF4 remote - separate room is awesome! The Rockville RF4 lights must have reduced range when they added the extra features because my range wasn’t too great. Seems like Both Lighting saved the good stuff for themselves hahaha
Thanks for the info. Whats the distance range (how far can it be placed from the source for normal operation) and how long can they be operated or battery last once fully charged?
Thanks for watching!! I tested the range in a separate video I’d recommend if you’re interested: ua-cam.com/video/N6bsYTbeovk/v-deo.html Basically I found the range is reliable up to 100 feet, which is pretty impressive!! Ive found it covers the venues I’ve DJd at so far. Also battery wise I find I’m getting about 6hours but can be less depending on the color the light is kept on. I haven’t tested it fully, but Rick Webb’s video is a good one for some battery testing. Hope that helps!
Thanks for watching! Yes they do remember their last setting when turned off. This makes it great especially for the master slave mode, where I keep only one light on master mode and the rest on slave mode, and they all remember the setting every time. Similarly, if you have the light on a specific color or mode, it will pick right up when you turn it on. Hope that helps!
@@MrMaui38 that helps immensely, thanks. One last question: all I want these lights for is to either steady pulse or fade, but just one color instead of running through all the colors. Will these lights just pulse or fade one color? Or is the only option for one color a steady/static color? Like you, I don't have dmx capability.
@@TheDrewManchu of course i am happy to help! so unfortunately without DMX they will only fade or pulse between different colors, there’s no way to get them to fade or pulse on a single color with only the remote as far as I know. Hope that helps
Thank you for this helpful video. What is your experience after a month? Do you know if these are compatible with the Rockville Mini-RF4s or have you had a chance to test whether they are compatible?
Thanks for watching! I’m still very impressed and extremely happy with these lights! The master slave functionality is awesome and really easy to work with. You can’t beat these at the price. Unfortunately I sent back the Rockville’s before I had a chance to test to see whether they were compatible with these Both lighting...they’re apparently all made by Both lighting so it’s possible they’re compatible? But I wouldn’t bet on it since the Rockville’s are slightly different from the RF4s sold by Both Lighting. Sorry couldn’t help with that. Do you own the Rockville’s and thinking of adding these?
Thanks for watching! I’m not sure as I’ve never tested this myself (I don’t have the Chauvet dfi) but from what I’m seeing online, I don’t think that it works with Both lighting fixtures. There could be a way, but from what I’ve seen from other UA-cam comments, I think the answer is no.
Thanks for watching! Yes the Rockville’s are great in general and for static colors as well. There’s really not a difference between these and the Rockville’s when you’re using them on one color.
Yes!! Check out the link in my bio. If you order 20 on that website from Both Lighting, they’re around $75 each. If you don’t want that many, they have other package options as well which still give you the lights for about $85 each too!
Did yours come directly from China? Did you have to pay extra at customs? Also, being from China, is the price you see the price you pay or was taxes added to the price?
Thanks for watching! You can use the link in the description of the video to see where I ordered from. That link is the direct from China Both Lighting website link, and I got the lights in one week. For me, the price I saw was the price I paid and all the fees were included in the price. It was very affordable and came out to about $80 per light when I bought 20 lights!!
