Dr. Millet's down-to-earth and genuine love for the gospel and others is deeply appreciated. The discussion on how being born again is a process and not just an event(s) - was really helpful. Also his comments about how people who have left the Church redefine their past instead of remembering how things really were was insightful. Thank you for bringing many to the table who are humble, knowledgeable, put themselves behind the Savior (instead of self-promotion), and love the gospel.
"Quit Worrying About It. Is It the Spirit or Me" a talk by Elder Bednar sheds some great light on how the Spirit works in our lives. It is worth the listen.
President Millet was my Stake President when I was a student out at BYU years ago now. What a wonderful man and teacher and I could always feel the spirit so strong around him. Glad to see him on here and hear his insights.
Wonderful choice for such a revered set of scripture passages. Grateful for this discussion and the need to deepen our contextual appreciation of Nicodemus and other topics such as control over our feelings and circumstances. Faith despite short term outcomes.
Regarding what Christ has control over - time and the ferment of wine. We also see this with the manna in the wilderness. They were to gather only what was needed daily. But on the day before the sabbath , they were to gather a double portion and it would not spoil.
Woman is sometimes used by men ordering or belittling their spouse in the unloving way but Jesus used the term in a kind and respectful way. I agree with you.
Thank you. I love Brother Millet. I remember a talk he gave where he told us that we should "be found at our duty station." I've tried to do that. I also love you, Hank and John!
The Wedding of Cana was Jesus first miracle, and it has great symbolism according to The Christian Churches of God. It represents the calling out of the physical nation of Israel, the sacrifice of the Messiah and the drawing out of the people who represents the church. It shows Christ is pivotal to the plan of salvation, Jesus Christ brought in the new covenant and made a new higher system of interaction available to all mankind through the acts of the Holy Spirit. The woman represents Israel. God planned the wedding and Jesus is the bride, the water represents humanity, and the sacrifice is of Jesus as the drink offering of the highest. Born again means to reconcile yourself to God, 2 Cor 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, 18. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ and has given us His ministry of reconciliation. The temple was destroyed when Jesus died on the cross, the veil in the temple was torn in two. Hebrews 9:11 But Christ came as high Priest of the good things to come with greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is not of creation. There has never been a holy temple built since this time. Through the word of God, you will learn the truth, through Gods righteousness we can do good works, to love Him, you want to make Him happy more than anything you do, and His righteousness make us do the right thing, but it comes through Him, if we thirst for Him, he will give us His living water. We must allow God to work His will through us, and we need to decrease ourselves so God can fill us with His water of Life. Jesus is God!
I love Joseph Smith's comments on being born again: "The baptism of water, without the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost attending it is of now use; they are necessarily and inseparably connected. An individual must be born of water and the spirit in order to get into the kingdom of God." (Teachings, p.360) All baptized members of the church should be seeking for the baptism of fire and the holy ghost - I am sorry that this is not taught in the church these days. John the Baptist says: "I indeed baptize you with water, but one mightier than I cometh...He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire." (Luke 3:16) Christ comes to us when we are ready and bestows the Holy Ghost upon us in this blessed event. This does not seem to be taught in any podcast today. How can a whole podcast on being born again not even mention the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost?

Thanks for the referral!
This wise man has made some excellent points. His take on Nicodemus was especially insightful.
Such a loving podcast full of light and joy. Thank you so much.
Glad you enjoyed it!
It was comforting to hear Brother Millet talk about how with depression we may still have the spirit with us even though we may not feel it.
Such a powerful concept, isn’t it?
