I own this exact watch and love it! I bought it specifically for the true GMT feature because I used to wear my (since discontinued) monotone Black Ceramic Bezel, Rolex GMT but got spooked about all the stories of Rolex models getting stolen while traveling so wanted a more under-the-radar true GMT I would not be afraid to travel with. This has proven perfect for my purpose and the movement has been running within 2 sec a day!! I ended up putting it on a blue leather strap with white stitching that looks great with the dial because I just could not get a perfect fit with the bracelet.
I have the black dial version, stunning watch, no qc issues and very accurate, The date wheel isn't ideal, it looks good but it spends a lot of time obscured by the hands, other than that it's a great watch.
I've had the SBEJ003 Landmaster...which introduced the movement...since 2020, and I love the power display on the dial. It has a higher beat than most of the other mid-priced movements, too, with 8 beats per second....giving a slightly smoother sweep to the second hand.
Love my SPB223J1. I thought the thickness would be too much for, but the case shape and bracelet combine to make it just as comfy as my Willard. Everything lined up nicely. Got it for about US$1000 from my local AD.
I have three different higher-end Presage references. The Arita porcelain LE from 2020 (SARW053), the Urushi lacquer option which uses retrograde day and date complications (SARD011), and the 6L35-powered LE from 2018 that is often referred to as a 'Baby GS Snowflake' (SARA015). Fortunately none of those three pieces suffer from any QC issues and the quality of finishing (most especially on the SARA015) is definitely on par with their GS cousins. Directly compared to my GS Spring Drive GMT (SBGE201) they certainly hold their own in terms of quality. The oem straps that were fitted to the Arita and Urushi pieces (typically an area where Seiko altogether too often falls short) were quality units also and the bracelet on the other is probably THE best (in terms of wearability and comfort) I've ever experienced on a "regular" Seiko rather than a GS, Credor, etc.
I have had this watch since it first came out! I did pay full MRSP, but I bought it the day it hit the AD. My local AD often only offers 10% on Seiko units as they claim that Seiko does not want to discount anymore. I also got the reddish brown version and that one was misaligned so I returned it.
Yes, a very nice watch indeed. I bought this exact same model recently. I think you can consider it a GS contender up to a certain level. 2 things that bother me: when you look at the painted blue hands under 10x magnification, you'll notice that the underside edge has some rough burr left from the mould. You'll never see that on a GS (at least not on my Snowflake). Also, the pushers on the clasp are too thin and feel a bit cheap for me. But that's about it for my criticisms... It's a real beauty that I enjoy wearing daily.
I have the Mido Ocean Star GMT. This is a seriously nice watch. From my vantage point, the 6 on the bezel is perfectly aligned with the crown. So is it more of a printing problem as apposed to an alignment issue?
Truly a slice of GS here. Sharp edge series are fantastic looking watches. 2 things I don’t like that makes this a pass for me is 1-power reserve totally not necessary and 2-that date sub-dial is not practical to read…. Would much prefer a simple date window. Good review!
I have this watch and the slgh005 and this sharp edge is a really hot looking. Watch it matches everything but the king is the king. I have a Rolex oyster perpetual and I wear that least out of the three and it cost like $3,000 more than the king. If you're looking at getting this watch right here you're making a good decision
Beautiful dial - Seiko seem to be able to produce dials like this time and time again, fantastic. Unfortunately they also seem to let the same faults slip through time and again.... Everything seems to work just how it should, with great manufacturing, fantastic materials, and (ignoring the alignment) great tolerances. I cannot see me justifying the price tag new, but if I see one at the right price theres a lot to like here.
Great video bro. Awesome macro shots too. Yep agree with you 💯. You nailed this review man. You are right I do love that watch. And thanks for the shoutout dude. 🤘🏻
So this or the MIDO Ocean Star GMT with nearly twice the power reserve, screw down protected, ceramic bezel, & 200m wr. I like the looks of this seiko if wanting something other than a "tool watch" look to wear. You mentioned about doing comparison with this and other seikos - maybe add the mido in comparison to have it as a alternative GMT near same price.
The phrase "Baby Grand Seiko" gets thrown around way too much. In my mind if any Seiko piece deserving such a phrase are the Sharp Edge GMT series. Collectors may be sleeping on these gems.
Such a missed opportunity. Had they not put the power meter on it and centered the presage text, this watch would be GORGEOUS. As is, it’s okay…. Could have been sooooo much better.
Can you just pop off the bezel and reset it to be perfectly aligned? Well... I guess even if you could, the bigger issue is that one shouldn't have to mess around and correct Seiko QC issues as soon as the watch is unboxed... Especially over $1k level... Hell, even over $500 these things should not even happen as regularly as they do. Otherwise, a nice watch. I'm just not a fan of the date subdial. I find it's a little too small to read easily... For my eyes. Would have preferred a more traditional date window.
Love it, but as said, I was turn off with the QC. Misaligned bezel and on your marco, look like the seiko dial is badly seated on the dial. A bit hard to swallow over $1k.
I just am not very much into the Presage line of watches. I love the Prospex but Presage not so much. I have one of the original cocktail time watches before they started branding it Presage and ever since then I just don't like Presage. I always felt like it wasn't the best move in my opinion and felt that they could have just left it out and let the brand name speak for itself. Just my 2 cents and history with the Presage line, I really don't think they are bad watches and I guess at the end of the day as time marches forward and Seiko puts more quality time pieces out the Presage line will speak for itself but overall I just have a sour taste about them.
Love these watches. This is what seiko do best.

I do love these GMTs. I've had the SPB217 for quite a while now and I love it.
New, they're $1400 every where. I had mine for 8 months and wear it every where every day; performances, gardening, house work and it holds up we'll.

Is the hand in the date wheel off? It looks like its inbetween two dates...
Looks amazing. Always click to check out this dial yet haven’t pulled the trigger

Is the applied Seiko squint? Looks like you can see the peg hole KO?

Good review, but i think you made much too big a deal about the 'misalignment' of the bezel. geez, its not even really noticeable.
👍👍👍 Another Nice Watch introduce by Watch Chris 👍👍👍

Don't be to angry with Chris for liking his moonswatch!
I hope youve calmed down since the video XD

Fine review Chris. I was going to save for the 5KX but now…..$1100.00 for a mechanical Traveler’s GMT??? Wow! Thanks
Is it ceramic bezel?
Will Seiko fix any issues with the watch ?

How do you think it compares to SARF011 ocean traveler?

For that price I would buy Swiss. They are budget GS watches without the silly nature references on the dial or the turbo quartz
Love it, but as said, I was turn off with the QC. Misaligned bezel and on your marco, look like the seiko dial is badly seated on the dial. A bit hard to swallow over $1k.
The date hand is misaligned, isn't it? It looks like it's pointing right in the middle of two different markings, which would drive me crazy.
Yes. Its inbetween 2 dates. Unacceptable...

On seiko website said they only make 2000 not 3500😂
Just keep saving up for the GS SBGE275G. Alternatively, sell a kidney or rob one of the lucky 1500 owners.
