Thanks for the tour of Karlshamn, I really enjoyed the scenery and the information provided! I think it is a bit funny that Karl X "founded" Karlshamn in 1660 and then his son Karl XI only like 15-20 years later think "no this town will not do, we need a new one" and create Karlskrona only like 60-70 km to the east. :) Considering that Karlshamn was burned down and wrecked a few times from invaders it seems Karl XI had a point though, maybe it was not possible to protect enough. Looking from above on a Karlshamn map on the city centre, it is interesting to see that renaissance style street pattern with everything at 90 degree angle and square pattern. Typical Erik Dahlbergh style at that time in history. It is nice that they have kept so much old houses and wooden houses in the city. One thing that is a bit odd is when you pass Karlshamn by train, the train station is kind of in the north part of Karlshamn and gives (at least me) the impression that it is a relatively small city eventhough as we can see in the video, the city stretches out quite nice.

Thanks for watching! I have not really seen any specific information on why Karl XI created Karlskrona rather than fortify Karlshamn. As you mentioned, Karlshamn had the Danish occupying it a few times so maybe it was considered difficult to defend, or maybe they thought it was better to have multiple naval ports, or maybe he just really wanted to create a town of his own? :)

Thanks for watching! I think the city center is a bit empty this day since a lot of people were partying in the park seen at around 19:00 in the video 😃
