I like the Klim bags but I think the Black Diamond jet force bags have things a little more dialed in. I like that you can turn the bag on and see the battery life in the handle. The fan also keeps going so if the bag tears the bag will continue to fill. Then it deflates automatically to provide an air pocket if you are buried. It’s also a bigger balloon. 4 deployments per charge.
That is a pipe dream if the bag is ripped on a rock that it will keep refilling, try that with a balloon, and if your burried in a hole a deflated bag will not provide you with more space, the weight of water on top of you will tell you that. Air bags are awesome but they are not a guarentee. Batteries are heave the E2 system is easily the best on the market, and unlimited pulls using a 2 double AA'a but if you need to pull your bag once, a mistake has been made, time to go have some beers in the bar in a safe location
@@DaveNorona I would love to see a comparison between the current Klim vs the Current Black Diamond Jet Force bag. They are both great bags but nobody has done a video comparing them. I did a lot of research & I’m a huge Klim fan. I ended up buying the jet force bags based on their safety features.
@@DaveNorona The material is more like a raft than a balloon. You definitely can keep a raft floating if you keep adding air unless it’s a giant rip. So I would say in some situations you are right.
The mic cord runs up the left shoulder strap in through the bag and the radio sits in the mesh pocket in main part of bag, the long range antenna sticks out about 2 cms of the bag or can be bent into the bag as well, cheers dave
I'm sure it's a nice pack for someone that doesn't need alot of room,16 liters.I wouldn't buy it because there's no room in it.I bought a,BCA FLOAT E2-35 AIRBAG BACKPACK AND it comes with 35 liters of room, has the e2 electric airpump and I've already tried to see how long it can go on 2AA batteries,1 month, that's 30 day's on the same batteries (lithium). Also come's with 3 pockets and one of them has a fleece pocket to keep your goggles in but more than PLENTY of room, has a special pocket on the back of the pack that can be unzipped without taking the pack off.The zipper starts on the right side, you can keep a bottle of water in it, skin's for split boarding or telemark skiing or anything else. The outside material is made out of RIPSTOP, RUBBER LIKE MATERIAL.The airbag itself is 162 liters, that's 12 liters BIGGER than the other airbags BCA makes.
I'm happy Klim has move to the Alpride E2 over the E1. The E2 is about 1/3 pound lighter weight (1140 grams vs 1280grams). The avy bag volume itself has increased (162 liters compared to 150 liters) plus it has the new informational graphics on it so if rescuers unbury a portion of the airbag, they get information as to which way to the persons head and if they are looking at the front or back of the bag/person. Also an LCD that shows both Battery and Supercapaictor state of charge. The E2 even changed away from the annoying micro-USB charge port as it now has a USB-C (which is non-directional and much easier to plug in than micro-USB). All great improvements over the E1 version. I would still like Klim to add a vest version to their lineup as I prefer to incorporate armor, avy pack, and transceiver harness into one layer. Plus, a vest carries the weight of a pack more comfortable for me. At a minimum, would like to see a larger protective chest plate and it wrap around more. I discussed this with Klim R&D last year and it would be nice for the buyer to choose from two coverage sizes for the front panels. One that is the current size (or smaller) and then one with much more front and wrap-around protection. But, a full high-performance vest would be my preferred design. When Klim adds those, we'll buy at least two.
Noting that for winter 2023/2024, Klim introduced the Atlas 14L Avy vest. I put my money where my mouth is (as I'd been begging Klim for a vest) and immediately bought one when it became available a week ago. Thanks Klim for listening!
Finding good comparisons on Avy bags isn’t easy. Thanx for the video!
You are so welcome!
Great video!!
Thanks!
Just a correction, the charge port is a USB-C not Mirco USB. great pack. good work dave
thanks! It comes with the charge cable
@@DaveNorona can I ask what the short zipper is for that’s attached to the window to see if the battery is on?

Do you run baoefeng with the large antenna? If so how do you mount it in the bag?
