To be honest, I think they did start out as a novelty act. Then they saw how popular they got so they kept at it. The crazy thing is they just kept improving. If you were to listen to one of their first tracks and compared it, they’re levels above where they were. Just proves that you can teach an old dog new tricks.
they did a couple of interviews - Bas has been in music his whole life - and worked on cruise ships apparently, and also did some work with a couple of famous bands - mentioned the New Faces who were around in the late 60s (I think) - so not much of a leap for rhythms and beats. He knows music - and not an amateur. Also they are Londoners - and Cockney rhyming slang started in the mid 19th century - so that sort of rhyming is in your subconsious/DNA. They said they started in 2017 and have worked at it and just aim to keep improving. So they are not passive in this - and they are taking this seriously and it shows. This is my favourite
According to Weird Wide Web, Peter Bowditch is a retired Royal Mail worker, a 73-year-old with a goatee and a dodgy right knee picked up from years of judo. Basil Belgrave is 77 and a trained pianist who exudes a slightly spivvish air. Together, they are the rap duo Pete and Bas. Pete discovered he liked rap when his granddaughter played it on his car stereo. Supposedly, they write their own material with the help of their grandkids.
@@saintdon4461That's just a fan story because they're consultants for the label that was started around Pete and Bas' act in 2017. They're not actually related. They did help Pete and Bas develop their flows though. You can tell that they use a lot of the same ones as Nine and Dex starting at around the time they hopped on with the label.
Bro, y'all have some catching up to do lol. Btw, the tall one is Bas.. Check out Plugged In with Fumez, Sindhu Sesh, Quick 1-2, Longthorne Shotgun.. All fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you fellas, for letting the music play through and then talking about it. The praise is cool too but, sometimes you just got to hear these guys do their thing 🙂 thank you for that again
They write and sing, their grandsons produce, and do the beats and help them with the slang and "modern lingo". But they do all there own lyrics and bars and structuring and all that.
We all need to give cred to whoever does the music for them .Music brings alot of people together that's what's great about ! I always listen to new music to give them a chance! 🤟😎
They write their own lyrics. Their grandsons help with modern lingo. That is it. You have got to hit Mr. Worldwide, Sindhu Sesh and Bish Bash Bosh. They go extra hard on those!
@@Adam-zh4hm well, they’ve interviewed both them and their grandsons about it, and Baz was also a music teacher and mult- instrumentalist as well. But sure, you know everything so….
Respect to you guys, you're breaking down Pete and Bas really nicely. Please, I'm so keen to see you react, you gotta see/hear P & B with Fumez, Longhorn Shotgun, Quick Little 1/2, Browns and ... ...
It’s seriously one of the dopest things in hip hop history from a purely lyrical standpoint (not to mention the beat switches and 91 Shots being an absolute monster) and will go criminally overlooked or under appreciated probably forever
Here's a new duet to give a listen, if interested. "Rufus and Chaka Khan - Ain't Nobody [HD Remastered] {Official Video}" (by the channel: Chaka Khan) -This song is by American funk band Rufus and Chaka Khan it was released in 1983 as a bonus track on their Live album called "Stomin' At The Savoy." Chaka Khan is another incredible powerhouse "soul queen" with lots more hits to explore in future. And as always, I enjoyed rocking with you fellas. Thanks for sharing. peace out~
Even if someone wrote the music (I hear they write their own with some help from family) it still takes sheer talent, timing, and flow to rap as good as they do.
Longthorne shotgun please!! The double bars are crazy. Would love to hear you guys!! Get into the rabbit hole and your viewer numbers would go nuts!! These guys literally play word-form like an art, 90% better than the youngin’s today!!
Yo, there’s no way these guys learned those lyrics from a sheet of paper. That flow comes from within. Those guys are the authors, I guarantee it there is no substitute for legit.
Fun fact about “complimentary colors”… it’s actually complementary and not “complimentary”. Complementary needs to complete. For example red and green are complements because each reflect the light frequencies the other doesn’t. The analogy still works but just figured I’d share
Please try a British 90's dance track Bass o matic with fascinating rhythm it's brilliant! It's got a rap twist in the middle well worth a listen!!!😊😊😊😊😊
luv these guys and they doing a live show in my home town soon in margate , kent , the newest track was good even for them check out BISH BASH BOSH its a banger from these lads
That is always been my argument as well. If they had a ghostwriter why would this guy not be selling it to the big boys that his stuff might actually make it on the radio. Why would a Ghost Rider be wasting these bars on some 70 year old dudes in the UK? When it comes down to it, no matter who writes the bars it's the delivery you cannot fake.
And Two more thing....Need to listen to the Plugged in with Fumes one too..one of they best ones...also .they have.. friends that colab with them sometimes called the Snooker Team. They old too... and Two of them they shit too. Patrick... and Norman Pain.
beleive it or not they do there own lyrics but there grand kids help them with some relivence with up to date slang and do the beats but pete is the short one bas ( bassel) petes granddaughter introduced them to it. and seriously they where actual connected bas family started bare knuckle underground fights and gambling back in the day and pete is half irish and his family was connected to crime family all the men in this video used to be in the crew. but yes they do write just have help with current lingo.
I love how you guys get this. Yeah, maybe Pete and Bas aren't real gangsters. I don't know, they might be. I haven’t dug too deep into their history. But a lot of rappers aren't real G's, just actors on the mic. At the end of the day, if it entertains and excites you, then that's all good. Shit, so much about life that we supposedly believe is truth is fake. So why not just kick back and indulge in some eargasms. And whether or not they write their bars, they still deliver. That is proven by their live performances. A lot of your favourite rappers can't spit like this, and a lot of them might be just an act as Pete and Bas might be. But at the end of the day, the music industry is entertainment. Fun, hard, real life experiences, make-believe. Don't think too muculh into it. Just enjoy it

I doubt
I love watching people Discover Pete and Baz
For reals! Watching folks minds get blown by their bars and their cadence, it’s very satisfying

Like, how can anyone not have fun with this?!?! This is so hilarious!! Love the reaction and the content!!!
That did put a smile on my face but shows that with the right editing, almost anything is possible.
They’ve done sold out UK and European tours. Can’t edit that.
They write their own lyrics. Their grandsons help with modern lingo. That is it.
You have got to hit Mr. Worldwide, Sindhu Sesh and Bish Bash Bosh. They go extra hard on those!
All this was exactly what I was coming here to say😁💯

Wait till you hear them go crazy on Sindhu Sesh. They go real bar heavy on that one and they have like five beat changes

Best reaction because you didn't stop every 15 seconds 👍
