We got some experts criticizing one of the greatest of all time. He’s only human and if he budged by a tad with his time you’re all gnawing at him. Sheesh you guys need something better to do. Much love to Drumeo for doing these videos and giving us access on UA-cam for FREE. learn to be grateful you guys. If you can do better than Dennis then please download the track and let us hear you.
Dennis Chambers gets a thumbs up before I even hear what he's playing. This feels a little like a first practice take on unfamiliar drums, though. It's definitely off here and there, and if I listen without watching, it sounds like he's struggling with something. Mechanical? Just an off day? Who knows? He's still a better drummer than 99.9% of us. I do wish they'd done a second take though.
Sooo... I've watched this vid like 5 times now... Not once does he drop out of time. He weaves in and out of it, sure, but that is a skill not many drummers have today. I'd challenge any of these trolls to weave like Dennis is doing in this track, his timekeeping is immaculate as always. Certain man just do not possess the ability to follow what he is doing and comprehend and process it all.
Really????? All that criticized here could kept there comments to theirselves, respectfully. We as drummers know certain things and in this case, those “things” that happens to us All in our careers should be kept quiet I feel. Mr Chamber, all due respect with much love & admiration for what you do & have done for the drum world!!! 👍🏽
Cool offering. FYI, whoever put the click in the beginning of the play-along track put it off by an eighth note. Haakon's first keyboard note begins on the and of 1, not the downbeat as the click suggests. I fixed it and put my own count off click to this track.
I got my Pearl MLXs because I saw Dennis in a drum clinic in 1988 at Musicians Pro Shop (Bengal Blvd) Salt Lake City area. Another reason I went with MLX is because of what Dennis did on Blue Matter. Those drums that Dennis has in this video are no Pearl MLXs.
I would like to see Chris Thatcher from Streetlight Manifesto do a lesson on the way he incorporates elements from marching band into a ska/punk atmosphere
Anybody know the finger technique he uses for those 16th note broken rhythms on the hi hat and the ride? I've been trying to get it down for a long time :(
Same. It's probably due to the odd time grooves and the non linear music patterns in this genre which makes it difficult to follow along. Whereas pop, alt rock, trap, etc. have a more of a "steady" rhythm and music progression that is more easy to follow along with
How da fuk does anybody come here and as the guts to say that this is not played in time and that the man is struggling??? Really? i suppose the only thing missing in the comments is saying that Joey is better :D
Clueless yokel, this drumgod gets in front of, behind and on top of the beat. Drums so badass that you think his timing is off LOLOL wtf? Fuck outta here!
That's fine guys. I literally heard it out of time. This is not taking away from him and his legacy but I really want you to listen to that section and evaluate his timekeeping. If you're right, I do concede but really feel like that wasn't his best. And please keep it tactful, guys.

It's awesome to see how Dennis is so locked in. His mind, body and kit are like.... One in the same.
Really?????

I am just an average drummer but i found it nice together with the music. Hats off for the legend
This man is legendary! 👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍💪💪💪💪

Hi guys..Gabriel of Dubai
May I ask what cameras you use at DRUMEO? The quality is stunning!
In the toms use evans UV1?
Show! 👏👏👏👏
If you don't mind, what is the name of the song in the intro for the video?
Happy new year btw.
How do I get these Dennis Chambers drumless tracks?
i have a feeling it had something to do with recording latency. cos the whole thing felt a tad bit off
Awesome
6:18 - I can hear Primus' live version of Tommy The Cat. " Say baby, do you wanna..."
Anybody know the finger technique he uses for those 16th note broken rhythms on the hi hat and the ride? I've been trying to get it down for a long time :(
French grip?
Kurt Rivers thanks dude ✌️
is a mix between fingers and wrist
As great as this is to watch, I couldn't get into it

CmdrGreene it is due to that. Even though I've been playing for a long time, this kind of stuff does not interest me. Thumbs up
Hey, trolls, go make your own drum video so we can critique it down! Stfu, lame-os. Dennis is murdering this in a great way. Respect.
out of time? Far from it.
He dances around the groove like a boss.
If anything the keys are out of time on the backing track 😁
Wonderful!! haha
Dennis sure knows how to tickle my fancy lol
Wow😮
How da fuk does anybody come here and as the guts to say that this is not played in time and that the man is struggling??? Really? i suppose the only thing missing in the comments is saying that Joey is better :D
What Cymbals is he using?
Zildjian ks and hybrid ks it seems.
Thanks
Cool
is it only me, or is there some slack in drums? Is he playing on backtrack with drums? To me it sounded really odd.
👏👏👏👏👌🇧🇷
Seems like Dennis is strugglin’.
peeayepeeaye seems im struggling to listen to him strugglin
Yeah, definitely looks like he is struggling and he's not in time either...not the Dennis Chambers we are used to
YOu're Strugglin'
Nope
Struggling peepee
Hahaha, all the crappy garage band drummers came out to say he wasn't in time, y'all can't follow odd timing?
Hi world
he really is a great drummer.. but this wasn´t his day, everyone has a bad day
Really ? I want to see your Good day! Certainly will be much inferior than Dennis "Bad day" period
Mmm I think that those plastic things he had attached to his sticks in this video were not a good idea...
a lot of debate here
No there isn't.
very dificult song to play to.
He lost his ability to play in time. 2:57
No he didn't, you're just incapable of following him.
It's in time.
Ike Ukazu ....I hope you are making a joke
