I've torn up 3 cargo carriers back there over the last 15 years and 2 jeeps. I got a 4 door version this time and went back there solo. Immediately told my husband upon walking in the door that I was going to need another 2 inches! He had no idea where I had been, what I was even talking about, and not yet informed of my 27 hour joy ride! If you're crazy enough to go solo, be prepared for sure! We have a little family joke that P.I.N.S. actually stands for Prozac Injection Needed Seriously because that has been my playground for so long! I love that drive and the solitude, it just feels like home to me. I am currently 62 miles into section hiking from the Mansfield Jetty to the South Packery Jetty in preparation to thru-hike land split to land split. It will be hard to leave the Jeep at home for that adventure. Stay safe in all your adventures thanks for the great video!
Airing down a bit would help as well. Just make sure you have an air system onboard to reinflate the tires when you hit the pavement again. Also, when you start losing traction in the mud, move the steering wheel left to right quickly to increase taction. Happy trails. Great video!
Feels like I'm back in school and it's story time or one of those movie days lol super relaxing and plenty of knowledge...thank you

Awesome info with markers & time frames for distance. also glad you mentioned 4x4 just what I needed to know for my trip there thank you.
Wouldn't be jeepy without a pose shot. Thanks for putting the together

Great video! Looking at doing this trip. Will definitely make sure to bring appropriate off road recovery equipment 🤣
Nice video. Did any of your jeeps have a manual transmission? I've made the trip in the past in a 2wd fiberglass bodied VW dune buggy.
Thx for the vid! Are lockers needed for the soft beach sand, or can you get away without them?
Na lockers are overkill. You can see the other vids where I make it all the way in a awd hybrid.
Y'all woulda had a much easier time in the sand at 14 psi 🙂 happy wheeling, good video
Thanks. Couldn't have gotten much easier. I even made it to then end in my stock rav4 awd.
Great video, thanks!
Heading here in January 2021... Never been. Can't wait!
Im going in feb how is it did u make it?
..is it open .. The first 4 miles.. We have a car
@@morgenbrady6216 Yes, was there yesterday, its open. Drove right along the seashore
Take care to stick to approved trails through the dunes, such as Yarborough Pass, otherwise you can get fines up to $500 per vehicle.
Are side by sides allowed
Are side bysides allowed?
No, but you can double back to the city beaches. They end about a mile before the pins entrance.
What tires are y’all running and did you have to refuel
Dick Cepek crushers and yes. Jeep gets 11 mpg so added about 5 gals. Red Jeep is running willy's stock tires.
Kudos to staying on the trail through the mud and not taking the bypass! Next time Air Down your tires to 15psi or less.
can you make it from corpus christi to south padre island only on the beach ?
Afraid not. Mansfield pass is a jetty, deep and goes into the Laguna.
Closed Beach ( what you call the walking beach ) is actually four miles, not one.
Good catch.
That hitch cargo carrier does not seem a good idea when off-roading.
Lol, very true. But at 120 miles a tank at best, I need the gas.
It’s crazy how much garbage is on that beach!
Was not that way when I was a kid camping with grandparent's! Less people no garbage!
Why are your tires fully inflated? Next time. Air down to twenty PSI. Stay safe and healthy.
Thanks. Yes I was at about 20 psi, but the red Jeep wasn't (he was being lazy). And what a pain to do without the deflator tool. Def my next purchase.
I see that yall made a big rockie mistake by not airing down the tires. Airing down to around 15psi would have made things a whole lot easier.
Lol
Stock Jeep’s testing flex LMAO
Not stock. Rusty's 4in suspension lift. We all can't be rich Doug, lol.
This is why we can't have nice things. Destroying our trails!
Noise . Mute.
How disappointing jeeping on the beach with windows up and tops on a/c probably on full blast
Sell your jeep and buy a car
Was there no shells on big shell beach?
