The short improvisation before Hey Baby at Maui was one of his most precious pieces - it showed that his approach was like that of a "classical" composer - with full awareness of bass lines, middle voice movement, and melody - present also here are the more advanced harmonic directions he was moving towards. He coupled all of this with a deep spiritual power - like Coltrane, Ravi Shankar or Toumani Diabate.
So excited. Unfortunately I just bought a ‘68 Funky-Vibe about a month ago so I won’t be getting this one, although it sounds phenomenal. Great playing!
They all sound so good! I asked Nico which one would have the Isle Of Wight sound and he told me the '68 version. I finally took the dive and ordered a Tiny Vibe '68.

Bought a sabbadius fuzz after hearing what you can get out of his stuff....really great sounding. Couldnt believe how many fuzz's i tried that didnt do exactly what i was looking for
I have the electric church. Couldnt find the rainbow at the time but i plan on picking that one up too. The quality of the sound was obvious immediatly before even fiddlin with the knobs. Wah wah trick pot makes it crazy versatile. Gotta get the rainbow though
Excellent demo. Authentic sounding , Do not know if you really need the very fast mode of the vibe but hell somebody will come up good with it . The original vibes were very temperamental i believe .This well designed and great sounding pedal should make it easier to achieve those great sounds !
I built myself a UniVibe that has three switchable voicings on it, Reslytone, UniVibe, and Voodoo Vibe, I need to do some maintenance work on it though cause sometimes the speed control doesn't work like it's supposed to, from memory I think I used common BC series transistors in my UniVibe build throughout the circuit and got good results.
@@millstap It's been quite a few years since I built it, but if my memory serves me right it only took me about a fortnight or so to build it, I actually etched the PCB for it myself, it was based on an article I found on the internet, called The ForumVibe.
I just bought the original un-vibe and didnt know about any recreations such as funky vibe tell me is there any noticeable difference in sound between the pedals because I noticed they also released a woodstock and a fillmore version
WOW! Only yesterday I listened to the excellently remastered Maui recordings and the Sabbadius's Maui Vibe sound is so parrticularly recognizable, it's incredible. I'm the happy owner of a 68 Funky-Vibe which I gig around 50 times per year with my Jimi Hendrix Tribute Electric Voodooland. The Maui looks and sounds very very intruiging to me....damn, Nico 🙂 Have to keep an eye on the Maui Fuzz, too. Let us know more, please!
Yes, you are going to have to try the Maui out. The Maui fuzz is killer too. Very clear fuzz with lots of tone. And the Rocktavia is the best. Nico is on a roll.
I know. People start to wonder about you when all you do is listen to one artist forever. But, you can do that with Jimi because he recorded so much material, you can never listen to it all. I was there in the '60's when he appeared out of nowhere. I still remember where I was when I first heard Jimi.

Thank you very much. Another one: the Fillmore or 68' vibe is better to your ears and if you could do a brief description of their sonic differences. Thanks in advance!
Yes, my official Sabbadius foot speed control pedal works on all the Sabbadius Funky-Vibes. There are two different versions for different models but they can still be used
Milzee😮 WTF! That’s freakin awesome 👍🇦🇺 P.S. Milzee, check out the gear from the guys at Pedal Pawn! Chris and his crew do some (well all of their pedals) are awesome to say the very least! Take care mate! Good to see you Milzee! 👍
Yes, I know Chris. He has been doing great stuff. He sent me the Pedal Pawn fuzz which is great and the Texas Twang (?) which I couldn't get to sound right on my amps. I didn't like that type of SRV tone in a box which comes naturally from Stevie's amazing amps. I don't like doing demos much especially when I have competing products. I hate to choose one over the other.
Hey, thanks for the video, great timing 👍about to invest in a vibe and have found a east Fillmore in the Netherlands. I’m in the uk. How do I find your speed pedal and would any expression pedal work ? Any advice would be great
Steve, no other speed pedal will work. When I never could find one in the USA that would work, I decided to start building them. Unfortunately, with shipping costs to the UK, the pedal is $235 which includes shipping and the correct cable. I could also send you links to the parts I use, but apparently the potentiometer is very difficult to find over there. Don’t try random expression pedals because you can damage the vibe. Stan.

@@CountryGravyMusic You could do a little experiment. Run the Fillmore (100K) speed using the pedal speed knob and then plug the 250K speed pedal into it and see if you notice any difference. I've listened quite a bit and I really can't tell any difference. Maybe you can. Either way, I always match the pot to the Funky-Vibe. The Japanese told Nic that the 250K effects the slower speed some. Either way, if you ever find yourself in a position of bringing the wrong speed pedal with you, you can still use it with pretty much the same results. The Maui has a seriously deep throb. I'm not sure what changes Nico made to do that. It could be the new photocells he had made. I have another FV that I haven't even tried yet that I will do a demo on too. It is the limited Gold version celebrating 1000 units sold. I have #1001 which was a real honor. I've been saving it for a special occasion which will probably be tonight or tomorrow.
