    Stuck between the 194 and 189 anima. I ski the Corvus freebird in 188 and the enforcer 100 in 186. Advanced skier, 6’2”, 200, living in CO. Thanks for the help!

      The Anima is kind of a lot of ski. Unless you want a lot of a lot of ski, I'd say the shorter length will work out better overall.

    How do the tips hold up in chop? At -6cm mount, it's pretty center obvi not crazy. I've brought my Koala 103s out to UT past two winters and had a lot of fun, but in pow I want some more float and composure in the tips. I'm 6'2'' 210lb and that Koala gets knocked in the tips and I get over the tips too often and I know I just need some more stability. I'm thinking of getting Anima in 189cm to bring on trips out west for pow days and Justis for normal days. Or I'm thinking Corvus in 191cm for just traveling with one ski, but Corvus is pretty light as well and soft in tips from what I understand.

      This ski crushes chop. Should be all set in the Anima in 189. New Corvus is considerably more flexible in the tips than the Anima or old Corvus.

    I picked up a pair of 189cm after trying the 182cm version and found them to ski really short when you're in powder and chop, especially with any density to the snow. With that being said, I'm 5'9 and 180lb and fairly aggressive, any chance the 189cm is just waaayy too much? My daily skis are Moment Deathwish 184cm and love the length.
    I also love the new intro! Are you going to do the comparison series as well? Thanks!

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  Рік тому +1

      Comparison series incoming! Likely next week we'll get that fired up.
      In terms of the length, on paper it seems pretty long, but your experience and preference trumps stats. If you're used to a 184, 5 extra cm isn't all that much.

    Gret review! Does the 2024 model come with a different construction as the '23 one, or is it just a new graphic? :)

    Great review! I'm torn between choosing the Anima or the DPS Koala 111 as my resort powder ski. Which ski handles Mix/firm conditions better would you say? Is there a big difference in Float between the 2? Any info would be very appreciated! Many thanks for your work. Cheers!

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  11 місяців тому +1

      There's not a huge difference in float. Both are on the heavy side and both are significantly tapered and rockered. I feel that the Anima has more predictability and consistency, though, as the Koala feels like it wants to be skied centrally and balanced while the Anima is more traditional in its tip to tail snow feel.

    Would be great to hear a comparison with the Rossignol BlackOps 118

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  Рік тому +1

      There's more stiffness and reactivity with the Anima, especially when it comes to crud, chop, and windblown snow. I'd rather ski the Rossignol in fresh and untracked snow to unlock the ski's creative nature while in variable conditions and terrain, especially where more confidence is needed, the Anima has more to offer.

    Deciding between the Anima and the Rustler 11, how would you compare them in terms of strength and playfulness?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  11 місяців тому +1

      The Anima feels stiffer overall and with a higher performance ceiling as a result. The Rustler is more damp, and for its weight, it does feel very stable and smooth. The Anima is a pretty burly ski so it's not going to be quite as playful as the Rustler--more input required in the Anima.

    Hi there, I currently ski the anima and I love it. But k2 and faction reached out to me, I have to depart from my anima, I wonder which one of their models would give me similar feel to the anima? The anima does charge straight a tiny bit too much for my taste.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  7 місяців тому

      If you're looking for a slightly turnier version of the Anima, I'd take a look at the K2 Mindbener 108 Ti. A bit narrower, yes, but has more of a carvy character. Something like the Reckoner 112 might be too flexible for what you're looking to do. With Faction, the Dancer 3 or 4, depending on what width you prefer, also have a turny preference with good energy. The Mana is more of a symmetrical twin and with no metal.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 місяці тому

      @@Vivianfamilynz It's considerably heftier, burlier, and stiffer than the Bent Chetler 120. Don't let me talk you out of getting a longer ski, that's just what I see based on your stats and application.

    Hello, how far forward would you go for a 6,4 guy(~80-85 kg) in 194 cm length. I own the animas and think of doing something different with the mount point to make it funnier in the air or switch skiing but I also really want great float. Would mount look pivot 15s on them. Do you think just going with recommended would suit me better?
    Thank you!

    • @SkiEssentials

      I think the shape allows the normal mount point to be effective. If you must, I wouldn't go further than +2 here.

    I’m a strong skier but have always just used all mountain skis (currently using Line Supernatural 100, 172cm length). I’m interested in a powder ski like the Anima, though I’m concerned the 176.6cm length might be too long (I’m 5’7” / 140lbs). Any advice?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  9 місяців тому

      I fear that would be on the long side given your stats, unless you know you prefer longer skis, in which case I'm not here to talk you out of a good time! Blizzard Rustler 11 in the 174 is worth a look!

      5’4 (162cm) 125lbs here. I ski the Atris 172(+1.5), Anima 176 and 2024 Nocta 177 at recommended. I’m only a year out since I first skied. You will be fine with the Anima if you use it in the right conditions on the right terrain. Not a one ski quiver unless you only go out when there’s fresh snow on the ground.

    Should I get the anima(194) or atris(190) for my first pair of skis🤔

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  11 місяців тому

      The Atris is more approachable, and if you're not in deep snow most of the time, it's also more versatile.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  10 місяців тому

      Probably the Atris, just from a usability standpoint. Anima is pretty darn hefty so it'll take a lot of energy to lug it up the hill.

  • @askara370
    @askara370 8 місяців тому

    how would you compare them to a mfree 108?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  8 місяців тому

      There's a lot more pop and pep in the M-Free vs. the Anima, which is decidedly more business-like. Anima is pretty heavy and fairly stiff--it skis like a very sturdy ski while there's more playfulness to the Dynastar. Hard chargers will lean more to the Anima for high speed skiing through variable conditions and terrain while those more focused on deliberate playfulness will likely enjoy the M-Free 108 a bit more.

    This ski is such a cruel taunt. The delta between my desire to ski it and my confidence that I could adequately command it is too high to allow me to forget the close calls I've had on less demanding/rewarding gear. As with the NBA, I need to give up on my "big mountain" dreams. Could blame it on the fact that you guys dont have it in stock in the longest sizes, but it's me...hi, I'm the problem. It's me.
    Got something a little down-ability from it?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  7 місяців тому

      Sure! I think a lot of skiers fall into this trap (myself included). I've learned, though, and find myself in a much better place now. Check out Head Kore 111, Salomon QST Blank, and Volkl Blaze 114 for more accessible big mountain skis.

    • @mastpg
      @mastpg 7 місяців тому

      @@SkiEssentials Yeah...the QST seemed to be the one. Wish I could drive the Anima competently, but I'll have more fun not hitting trees or getting in over my head on the steeps.
