Ryan - Thank you for these awesome videos! When you train your forearms, is that something you typically reserve for the offseason or do you continue to do those movements year-round?
LOVE this video so much!!! Just what I’ve been waiting for :). Could I ask you a question, Ryan? Please excuse me if this is a silly question, I never played baseball, but why is hand strength so important? I was told when learning to swing softball that I should be “loose” when swinging and lag the barrel and then squeeze it before contact and contract the wrists to “snap” through the ball. Is this style of thinking wrong? Should I be gripping the bat harder and controlling the barrel more? I notice your barrel doesn’t go loopy when you swing and mine does because I’m lagging the barrel hard. Thanks as always, Ryan! You’re really helping my game! I had the best performance this weekend in a tournament (Rec league level - nothing special lol) but all these videos helped big time!
Hey Marra - I'm not the master but here is my point of view: Yes, you are correct in that you should hold the bat "loose" before the swing. Hand strength is incredibly important. First, your guide hand must be strong in order to "guide" the bat in the proper swing path. Second, your hands and arms are what you use to create the "wrist snap". The wrist is a joint. It is powered by the muscles in the hands and arms. The stronger you are, the faster you can "snap"...the faster the exit speed.... Yes, Ryan has one of the best "stabs" in the business. He does not loop the bat around. From the connected position, he stabs the bat within the rotation. The combination of the powerful stab and snap are critical to reaching optimum distance. Finally, it's not just about the arms and hands as you know. As Ryan points out, you need to engage your core, your legs...even your small toes....everything...in order to give you full leverage. Ryan can probably bench press 850 lbs... but if he didn't get his core and legs into it, he wouldn't be hitting the ball 500 feet. Just my opinion...
Just to add to what Bruce said, when you hear stay loose its referring to keeping your big muscles loose or not muscling the bat. For example, think about sprinters. If you look at their face during 100m their face is bouncing bc they are relaxed. Your quick twitch movements are not going to work if you are tensed up or trying to muscle the bat. Not sure if that makes sense but I tried..ha
Mr Harvey, when you perform the early stride drill, are you transferring the weight when you stride forward? Or is the weight transferred when you swing? Great video
Seems it’s been taking a couple days for it to be able to watch through the app, if you click on my link to the video on my fb page it’s watchable I believe
@@harv2510 with this question. I’m 6”5’ around 260 athletic build and swing a 27oz endload most of time. What weight would you recommend for hummer stick? Thanks
Love that wrist/forearm work at the end. I'll be adding that at the gym this week!
Great i can implement this in my practice in my garage.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing. Great stuff
great tips , thanks for the video
Keep me going Harvey!
For the last drill powering through the ball lifting the back leg. What weight of bat is best ?
This is Gold. Thankyou
Awesome!!
That’s one part of my body that is not strong is the wrists

All year, typically every other day, I try to get some type of forearm movement in
Is it possible for you to upload the forearm workout again?
You are tall why do you set up the tee so low?
Shouldn't it be higher?
Also is there a reason why you do drills with baseball?
