Thanks for the AAVE explanation. I hadn't put much thought into the lyrics and grammar because of the ease with that the members had sung and rapped! I noticed that the lyrics were so well written, just as they would have been for a Western artist. I think I was just somewhat shocked at how well their pronunciation was for being Japanese. I have grown up hearing Native Japanese people trying to speak English and have always seen the difficulty they would have with speaking without an accent.
I was surprised by how well they spoke English too. I did not want to comment on it because i understand how people who do not normally speak English can get self conscious about it. This also why I was so surprised that their debute song was in English because it is just uncommon for KPOP or JPOP.
