Nicholson's Joker remains my favorite movie interpretation of the character. He strikes the perfect balance of Joker's humor and psychosis. Not to mention I dig this rendition having an aptitude for art. Makes him unique.

I actually liked the portrait the goon put red handprints on. Appealingly subversive in a Sex Pistols-God Save The Queen sort of way. Was :-( when he then splashed green paint all over it. Maybe you're supposed to feel that way tho, like that Banksy that got shredded? I dunno
Nicholson was also scary but in a more creepy and subtle way. He was funny and scary at the same time like a comedic serial killer. Ledger was just more dark and serious

Joker has great taste in paintings. That's "A figure of a man with meat" by Francis Bacon. Bacon was actually a tortured person with immense demons in his life, so maybe he and Joker could relate lol

Most old paintings were boring. Especially the Mona Lisa. I prefer painters who command color, not ones who get rid of it. Thinks why Van Gogh is my favorite painter.
Some of the artwork could have been posters from a distance, but up close others look like full-blown replica paintings. Imagine being the person who made these only to see your stuff became a movie prop! I would actually be proud because they were able to "pass" as background art in a museum!
One of the most iconic scenes in the movie considering that it shows Joker and his henchmen entering Gotham museum and making a mess by vandalizing the paintings and statues! Add to the fact that Prince's partyman song's playing during this scene makes it even more iconic and unforgettable!

My favorite part about this is how Joker has a henchman just to carry a boom box around to provide theme music. What a legend. However, as a Toreador, I am repulsed at Joker and his men’s thoughtless and cruel vandalism of such fine works.
I was wondering how they did that scene because unless you are the real joker blocking a bowie knife with a wooden cane seems dangerous. Now I get it he turned the knife around so he wouldn't break the cane and accidently stab Jack Nicholson.
