It should be a crime to destroy old collectible guns.

Certainly a gem. As a longtime Enfield collector I would love to have this sweetie.

Heck, we were allowed to mail bayonets home when I was in Iraq -- inspected and verified by the postal folks.

To give it its correct service name, it's a Charger Loading Lee-Enfield (CLLE) Mk.I* (though the markings may not reflect this) - as the owner states a charger conversion of the LE Mk.I - note the removable sight protector still on the gun after all these years.
Many of the Taliban-used guns are locally-produced knock-offs, but this is a genuine piece of history with added relevance from its recent 'service'. Great piece for the future.

Taylor Sundberg I disagree. The story is why I but some guns because it simply intrigues me. However you can't expect someone to pay for the story

sergeantbigmac dude I have no idea. I don't neglect my firearms at all but for some reason these just meant nothing to me and I saw no value in them. If I could go back and do it again, I'd certainly keep good care of them.

digitalblasphemy1100 Im a history buff and gun nut so it hurt reading that lol. They probably were carried through both world wars or even the Boer war if old enough... Im just wondering why leave a gun outside?

sergeantbigmac I moved into a rent home and I was told the entire back room which I was using for storage (where the guns were kept) was going to be torn down because the roof was caving in and it was structurally unsound. I decided to clear it out entirely and see if I could fix the roof and joists myself so I pulled everything out over the course of a few days. Long story short, I wound up leaving many of the items out for too long and they got rained on. Once the rifles got rained on, I said fuck it and left them along with a bunch of other junk I eventually brought to the dump outside with them. I'm not sure how they were disabled but the bolt wouldn't budge on either of them so I'm assuming they were welded in place or something. They both had a afghan pattern sling and they were very old and beat up indeed. I think if they'd come back in fair condition, I would have kept them. I just thought they were old broken junk rifles with no value.

digitalblasphemy1100 Ahh that sucks man. Sometimes its hard to know what has value and what doesnt. And on most bolt actions I think engaging the safety locks the bolt up too.
