      sed6..did you get 150 or 170? how are you liking it? Any idea whether the clp 735/45 would have been better choice?

      Hi, Rubber. I am not sure if sed will see your message, but I will try to help a bit. The 735 doesn't have Bluetooth and it doesn't come with the WIFI adapter. It would be last on my list of recommendations. Second to last would be the CSP-150. It has the WIFI, but it doesn't have wooden keys or the larger speaker system. Next would be the CLP-745. If has a lower price than the CSP-170 and it has Bluetooth (which is nice)... but it doesn't have the follow lights or microphone port. It also doesn't charge your iPad while you use it. The CSP-170 is the most expensive on this list, but it has WIFI, follow lights, microphone port, wooden keys, hundreds of sounds (more than the CLPs) and the iPad charger. I hope that helps you figure out where you want to fall on the spectrum. Of course, we've done videos on each of these so feel free to watch them if you need more info. Thanks for stopping by!

      Yeah, the CSP wooden key action is similar to the 745, but the 745's key action has a more accurate down weight. IE - it plays better. The binaural Bosendorfer upgrade is nice, but (in all honestly) pretty meaningless. The big difference is the overall functionality. The 170 has over 500 sounds. The 745 has 38. The 170 has a MUCH nicer sound system and, thus, sounds WAY better. Also, the Smart Pianist app (which was designed to work with the CSPs) has certain functions disabled with the CLP pianos (like 16-track sequencing). Finally, the 745 is much more complicated to operate than the 170. They are both great pianos, but if we want to get picky, we can find a TON of reasons to go CSP over the CLP. Hope that helps!

    I want to buy the CSP 170 but to be honest its 3 years old and i'm affraid that after i get it they will Release the new version.

      That's always a possibility. We often say that every digital piano is discontinued the day it's released. ...but with the COVID situation, the chip shortage and the supply chain crisis, things at Yamaha are anything but normal. There is just no way to know what they will do. That said, they haven't said anything to their dealer network about replacing these models yet. I hope that helps!

    Is buying the ux3 or csp170 a better choice , I used to play the keyboard but now I want to get into playing piano . Do you think csp170 sounds better than a traditional upright piano. What are the maintenance costs like on a acoustic upright piano like the ux3 . Please help me choose

    • @RivertonPianoCompany
      @RivertonPianoCompany  2 роки тому +2

      Hi, TMS, and thanks for your question! I'd definitely recommend the CSP-170 (if you can find one) over the old UX3. First of all, the sound you get from the CSP is a 9' Yamaha (or Bosendorfer) grand piano. It's far richer and warmer than anything you can get from an upright. Secondly, the action on the CSP is based on a grand piano design (gravity hammer) - so it's about 40% faster than the UX3 was and it's more controlled/balanced. I think you'll have far more fun playing the 170 than you would any other upright. Then - when you add the additional learning features, headphones option, the fact that the CSP is always perfectly in tune (you don't have to pay the $300 or more per year most people have to properly tune and maintain their upright pianos)... The CSP is a clear winner there. I hope that helps!
