Katrina Rose reminds me of the conviction and drive of performing by Judy Garland. I don't see her on Broadway. She is a larger than life singer. Worthy of getting to that one woman concert gal.
{Eric} Well, i'm a writer A writer of songs Pretty little dingies and singalongs So i ain't made a dime in a while Been hittin' the circuit To sell my wares Got a lot of material Nobody cares They tell me that my songs have gone out of style Mhmm, hey hey I score a showcase Some big record man I know by the end He's gonna be my fan I play my music bit by bit Woo! {Eric}
Well, i'm a writer
A writer of songs
Pretty little dingies and singalongs
So i ain't made a dime in a while
Been hittin' the circuit
To sell my wares
Got a lot of material
Nobody cares
They tell me that my songs have gone out of style
Mhmm, hey hey
I score a showcase
Some big record man
I know by the end
He's gonna be my fan
I play my music bit by bit
Woo!
Well my hands are shakin'
My head is high
He sees this and fidgets
Says "what else you got?"
I shrug and i'm like
"well, that was it"
He says "if you'd come in here in '73
You're the kind that i would have signed instantly
But it's now, not then, so if i may be bold
Your material just feels a little old"
I walk out his office
Head full of strife
'cause this is the story of my life
I'm in the
Right place at the wrong time
And it's a short walk
But a long climb
I'm in the
Right place at the
Wrong time
I'm in the right song with the wrong rhyme
Is there a space where i belong i'm
Just in the right place at the
Wrong time
Hey, hey
Is there anybody who feels this way?
{katrina}
I am a singer
My dreams are big
But producer's minds are small
So i can't get a gig
And i've been at it for a while
In my corola, i drive around
From audition to audition
They don't like my sound
Tell me my singing out of style
Singin' in a bar, owner looks at my face
Says me i remind him of a girl who used to work in this place
She made it real big, but that was way back when
You'd be set if you'd been around then
I throw back a whiskey
Then one more
Because i've heard it all before
I'm in the
Right place at the wrong time
And it's a short walk
But a long climb
I'm in the
Right place at the
Wrong time
I'm in the right song with the wrong rhyme
Is there a space where i belong i'm
Just in the right place at the
Wrong time
Hey, hey
Is there anybody who feels this way?
Mhmm
{eric}
I leave the building
{katrina}
Walk out the bar
{eric}
I head for the street
{katrina}
And i get in my car
{eric}
I'm prayin', lord
Please send some kind of sign
Then i see the woman
Her eyes are deep and black
{katrina}
In my windshield there's a man
With a guitar on his back
{eric & katrina}
I wonder if her/his life is just like mine
{katrina}
Stare at each other
{eric}
Feelings hypnotized
{katrina}
We never break the contact from each other's eyes
{eric}
Even as she accidentally mows me down
{katrina}
Now he's bloody on the pavement
{eric}
And i am close to death
And i could smell the alcohol upon her breath
{katrina}
And i hear sirens comin' from across the town
{eric & katrina}
And now my song is done and my life is too
And my story is a testament to all those who
Are in the
{katrina}
Right place at the wrong time
{eric}
Right place at the wrong time
{katrina}
Short walk but a long climb
{eric}
Short walk but a long climb
{katrina}
Right place at the wrong time
{eric}
Right place at the wrong time
{katrina}
I'm in the right song with the wrong rhyme
{eric}
Right song with the wrong rhyme
{katrina}
Is there a space where i belong i'm
{eric}
Space where i belong i'm
{katrina}
Right place at the
{eric & katrina}
Wrong time
We're in the
Right place at the wrong time
And it's a short walk
But a long climb
We're in the
Right place at the
Wrong time
We're in the right song with the wrong rhyme
Is there a space where i belong i'm
Just in the right place at the
Wrong time
Hey, hey
Now i'm not the only person who feels this way
Hey, hey
Hey, hey
Hey, hey
Hey, he-e-ey
Hey, he-e-ey
Hey, he-e-ey
Hey hey, he-e-ey
Mhmm
Mhmm
Right place, wrong time
