They are Indeed allowed for students but there will be a Subscription for 1 year which might cost around 10k

You can get Mechanical Engineering but I wud recommend you to not take it since from next year they are merging EEE and Mech for making a new branch named Mechatronics.
But do make sure to attend the Counsellin!!

@@abhiram972i took CSE in Electronic city campus, option change from ec to cs in main campus requires very high cgpa so without risking I took cse in ec campus only, syllabus and all is same but main campus has better students so they do well in placements, and pes main campus has way more hackathons, clubs and summer courses

Only things that matter for good placement is whether u r ec or cs
1.Good cgpa 7.5 but maintain 8 to be safe
2.learn skills like dsa, web development, app dev, Ai, Machine learning , learn any one of these
3.After u have learnt the skill do a project(on which skill u have mastered)which is useful in real life
4.Put in your resume, practice interview questions and that's it

Mechanical engineering is being removed as a course and it's being merged with EEE to make Mechatronics which might give an edge in placements.
But do remember mechanical placements in any college isn't good
