Love this version of Pure Imagination, right alongside Buckethead's. Don't know why everyone is saying it's sexy and seductive, I mean, yeah, it's Adam Levine, but I get more of a somber tone, nice and chilled.
I am 35 years old..... and this sound... mesmerizes me...... WOW LOVE IT!!! The guitar riffs...the awsome lyrical sound.... (I ripped it to my ipod about 3 years ago) shhhhhh!!!! AMAZING!
Nah, I think about the world in black n white on fire while everyone dies in various ways in slow mo. Like someone on fire jumping out the 7th story window of a building , people passing out behind the wheel and running over everyone, someone being beat up by 10 people, a bunch of suicide bombers chasing after groups of people, intercontinental ballistic missiles being shot out by the hundreds into the sky. All in slow motion and black n white of course. This is what goes on in my head when I hear the song(:
I don't know why everyone feels to need to compare every single version of every song ever. This is one of my favourite songs in the world, and I personally love it whenever my favourite artists sing it and put they're own twists on it. They may never be better than the original, but they're good and to me that's all that matters.
This song has some kind of magic to it. His voice is sooo romantic. They did a great job with this version and I'm a Willy Wonka fan since I was a little girl.
This song is soo soothing with this group. He has a beautiful voice, so relaxing. Would love to drive down a winding road listening to this song for a long long time and let my imagination gooooooo
which is why the phrase "living there you'll be free if you truly wish to be" is so significant because the only way to be free is to let go of all control even from yourself but you have to chose to do this which most people don't want to do that i think is the reason most don't like this song because it is like a herald of the darker part of the imagination or at least what we consider the darker part
I think this is absolutely beautiful. They did their own thing and made it sound gorgeous. This may just be my opinion, though. Hearing this is like seeing a different side of this song.
They added a litle more instruments, but I still get the peace from it, though no one can redo it like what Gene did, thanks Gene for opening our imagination even more, THANKS if he only knew
1% Of the comments: This is a nice song. 99%: I'm so dark and mysterious, I feel like an evil edgy villain when I listen to this *tips fedora* #14andlostsoul -_-
I like the original a lot. I love this version. The original is more likely to fill one with a sense of wonder. A listener is far more likely to listen to the words Gene Wilder sings. That one gives me more of a nostalgic feeling. This one... I could imagine actually having it on my iPod. In truth, the fact that the versions are so different and both good is a testament to the simplistic beauty of the melody itself. Give props to the songwriters: Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley
I love this version of the song...I love the original version. I love the Adam version (hell, I love Adam too). This song just possesses the power of awesome
my life is complete, this is the best thing that has happened to me in like 6 years... probably since the last time i saw willy wonka and the chocolate factory
The audiosynergy of this composition can be described as: imaginatively soothing to the Cochlea of the listener. The piece begins as light and peaceful, with slowly-paced undertones. SUCK IT BRENNAYOUNG WERE BAKED. sincerely bob&jc
The book that ROALD Dahl wrote was in fact called "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" but the movie that came out in 1971 was called "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory"
thank you soccerfan the harmonizing and the added bass and drums makes a crazy twist to the original happy song into and like spongebobdora said "a dark hypnotizing song"
i am a maroon five lover. Me and my ex enjoyed their first (and best) album, songs about jane, together for our first valentines day. Played it through, multiple times. Never got sick of it. So maybe im biased a bit, although i think their second album was just ok, but i think this song is great. The guitar solo may be a bit much, but they had to add their little twist to it, so i don't hate them for it. But i love this
Actually, Roald Dahl's book was named "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," written in 1964. The song was originally in Mel Stuart's movie adaptation, "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" in 1971.
that keyboard riff is classic...i can just hear it (sounding more like a music box, and slower...then, *bam*! a body drops. call me weird. It kinda reminds me of that ominously tinkling snippet in SAW III just before the angel trap goes off...
"Come with me, and you'll be, in a world of pure imagination. Take a look, and you'll see into your imagination. We'll begin, with a spin, traveling in a world of my creation. What we'll will see, will defy explaination." Favorite part for sure.
Listening to this song, it makes me feel like I've just taken drugs and I'm just spinning around in my own little world, completely spaced out, on a high.
it's the side of the imagination that is reserved for those who aren't afraid of letting go of the innocent world of their childhood the point is that while the other song represent a dream from which you can wake this one is symbolic of a dream from which you can't awaken and the only way to be free from it is to be in control of it which most people can't phathom because to be in control of your imagination is to have none
@jasonsan10 dude the guitar makes this song absolutely beautiful. If you listen you can FEEL the guitar as it plays. It represents a lot.. The guitar solo represents explosions and war. By making it sound messed up and scary its giving a small hint of war.
The 1971 film was named 'willy wonka' because the producers had a deal with a candy company who wanted to sell commercially successful candy with wonka imprinted on it...
This is one of the two songs that Adam's voice isn't annoying as hell, and I actually do love this version!
What's the other one?
Sunday Morning, but it's strictly my opinion
All of Songs About Jane is good
Love this version of Pure Imagination, right alongside Buckethead's.
Don't know why everyone is saying it's sexy and seductive, I mean, yeah, it's Adam Levine, but I get more of a somber tone, nice and chilled.
It is seductive though...especially some parts ❤️🔥💥
It is though. Especially the part before the bridge when he kinda moans. This is a good stripper song. Lolol.
I'm not a big fan of Maroon5 but I think this is a very nice version of the song
I am 35 years old..... and this sound... mesmerizes me...... WOW LOVE IT!!! The guitar riffs...the awsome lyrical sound.... (I ripped it to my ipod about 3 years ago) shhhhhh!!!! AMAZING!
Still breathing?
And suddenly, it's not about candy anymore!
this love of pure imagination has me moving like jagger
This sounds like something the new Ultron would listen to while on a relaxing murder spree.
this video is almost as old as youtube itself, i remember listening to this same video soo many years ago. glad its still here, hope it always remains
Am I the only guy that imagines villains gearing up and murdering to this version of the song?
No, you most certainly aren't alone on this.
This song gets me in an extremely psychopathic mood e-e
Nah, I think about the world in black n white on fire while everyone dies in various ways in slow mo.
Like someone on fire jumping out the 7th story window of a building , people passing out behind the wheel and running over everyone, someone being beat up by 10 people, a bunch of suicide bombers chasing after groups of people, intercontinental ballistic missiles being shot out by the hundreds into the sky. All in slow motion and black n white of course.
This is what goes on in my head when I hear the song(:
bezerkoid maybe it should be the opening credits of the suicide squad movie!?
Yes! I totally played this over the Suicide Squad mission in the new Lego Batman game.
I don't know why everyone feels to need to compare every single version of every song ever. This is one of my favourite songs in the world, and I personally love it whenever my favourite artists sing it and put they're own twists on it. They may never be better than the original, but they're good and to me that's all that matters.
No Fiona Apple makes it hauntingly beautiful
This song has some kind of magic to it. His voice is sooo romantic. They did a great job with this version and I'm a Willy Wonka fan since I was a little girl.
I expected there to be more maroon than just that one guy's scarf
The best rendition I have ever heard.. this is definitely a fave
omg 😢 I hope they can perform it now as a tribute
This song is soo soothing with this group. He has a beautiful voice, so relaxing. Would love to drive down a winding road listening to this song for a long long time and let my imagination gooooooo
I don't know.. In my opinion, they should revise 2:05 until the end. It just kills the mood for me.. Just my opinion, of course!
which is why the phrase "living there you'll be free if you truly wish to be" is so significant because the only way to be free is to let go of all control even from yourself but you have to chose to do this which most people don't want to do that i think is the reason most don't like this song because it is like a herald of the darker part of the imagination or at least what we consider the darker part
Is this from Charlie and The Chocolate Factory? At the end, when they ride that elevator? It sounds like it.
Cody Lee it originally was. Gene Wilder sang it when he lead his guests into the factory, but I think it played in the background throughout :)
I think this is absolutely beautiful. They did their own thing and made it sound gorgeous. This may just be my opinion, though. Hearing this is like seeing a different side of this song.
I love this version so much better
Tributes like this show how great the original was. Nothing like simplicity, and no one more simply brilliant than Gene Wilder...
They should of played this in kick ass that would of been so cool
+sík-ɪn lesson have* please...
thanks for you input will it will be processed soon
They added a litle more instruments, but I still get the peace from it, though no one can redo it like what Gene did, thanks Gene for opening our imagination even more, THANKS if he only knew
I feel like this is a stripper's song. I just picture someone going around a pole.
an now so will i :)
aw damn you, that's gonna ruin the song for me
his voice. the vox-synth. that guitar solo. this is a wreck.
only maroon 5 song i like
this version is just more smooth and more like a proper than the original . i feel so relaxed!
1% Of the comments: This is a nice song. 99%: I'm so dark and mysterious, I feel like an evil edgy villain when I listen to this *tips fedora* #14andlostsoul -_-
I saw this movie as a kid, and I still like this song. Not a bad cover.
This song sounds like its for stoners
i adore this song and i adore maroon 5 and when put together, well it's different, but i am impressed
This version make me what to get high for some raison lol
profit225 same lol
the old one is amazing. This is just Trippy as hell. do not listen high, if you want to accomplish something in that day..
creepy version of a beautiful song
+Kimberly Brown i cannot agree more
i love this version, its outta this world for a remake
its really trippy, i love the beat it makes me chillax
sounds awesome and the guitar riff is just magnificent
I like the original a lot. I love this version. The original is more likely to fill one with a sense of wonder. A listener is far more likely to listen to the words Gene Wilder sings. Great modern update to a classic...Am I the only one who happened upon this because of the new AT&T commercial.....??
It's so cool to hear this song with earphones. It's like you hear the song in your'e head. EPIC *-*
I love this song and thank you for your creative touch.
I love this version of the song...I love the original version. I love the Adam version (hell, I love Adam too). This song just possesses the power of awesome
I think Maroon 5 did a fine job with this song. At least they exposed this song to a younger generation,
I can't imagine why a person can't like both versions of a song. Seriously, its not like the existence of this one destroyed the original.
I don't know why, but this song just makes me want to cry.
para mi una de las mejores!!
y obvio q las demas de maroon 5 tbn lo son!!
pero! esta me aze sentir especial , q no existe nadie mas solo yo!!!
This song (in this version) brings back cool memories from last year (*tear*)
Great song. I think I may have my school music department consider performing this song as a group. Omg that would be amazing!!!
love this song, i still love the classic
i always loved this song... this just takes it to a new level.
anyone know what year this was released ?
my life is complete, this is the best thing that has happened to me in like 6 years... probably since the last time i saw willy wonka and the chocolate factory
The audiosynergy of this composition can be described as: imaginatively soothing to the Cochlea of the listener. The piece begins as light and peaceful, with slowly-paced undertones. SUCK IT BRENNAYOUNG WERE BAKED. sincerely bob&jc
Nothing will ever beat the original, but this is a very good cover.
one of the best version of pure imagination I love it
The book that ROALD Dahl wrote was in fact called "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" but the movie that came out in 1971 was called "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory"
THA CLINIC brought me here....Who remembers them (skate team)
I can't stop listening to this ever since I found it on tumblr!
Just drive around. Once you transform into a family of two or more people, you're in the right place.
Wow. they did a great job with this song. of course, nothing beats the original, but this version is unbelievable.
he breezes over "there's nothing to it" too quickly
thats the best lyric, it needs more
this song gives me chills
Dude! I do that ish too! Listen to it, over...and over...and over...
Its very appealing.
thank you soccerfan the harmonizing and the added bass and drums makes a crazy twist to the original happy song into and like spongebobdora said "a dark hypnotizing song"
I could imagine this in some crazy fun house. Love the guitar solo.
This may be the one Maroon 5 work I enjoy.
i loooooooove this version...it's dark like the book
this is dopE for real. Laid back beat, smooth transitions, and overall a nice rendition.
love this version so much

Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory (1971 MOVIE) Brought me here. :)
The one song i can stand from maroon5 and it's not even their own original. classic song.
I don't know,this makes me feel paranoid.I love it :3
i have always loved that song... and this is grate...
I love your imagination! Very nice arrangement of the song...
Let me just listen to this on repeat all night whilst I "study"
Actually, Roald Dahl's book was named "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," written in 1964. The song was originally in Mel Stuart's movie adaptation, "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" in 1971.
this is pretty good, wasn't expecting it to be so good, but its riding
this version would go good in a scifi movie has that old radio feel to it you know..
I don't know why everyone hates this. Sure the original was better, but I think this is pretty good to. It gives the song a more alternative feel.
that keyboard riff is classic...i can just hear it (sounding more like a music box, and slower...then, *bam*! a body drops. call me weird.
Its on the album Mary Had A little Amp. You can get it from Amazon from £5 ish. Aint it chilled .
@UWPvibe16 you're right... i actually love this song now... listening to it over and over
am sooo happy glee is going to cover this song!! i love it sooo much
song kind of freaks me out alittle..but i cant stop listening to it

Love this song!! The original is the best! I also love the commercial for at&t with the original song =]
Props to Maroon 5 having the guts to actually cover this song (and actually making it sound fantastic.)
best version so far... better than the glee version :P
this version rocks :)
i really love this version...
@jasonsan10 dude the guitar makes this song absolutely beautiful. If you listen you can FEEL the guitar as it plays. It represents a lot.. The guitar solo represents explosions and war. By making it sound messed up and scary its giving a small hint of war.
I like the modern twist on it, but nothing beats an original of course. :)
What a gem
Never thought i'd find a song i didn't like from Maroon 5...
Adam sounds like he's gasming
But the instrumental is nice.
VIVA LA ORIGINAL!
Flipping amazing.
The 1971 film was named 'willy wonka' because the producers had a deal with a candy company who wanted to sell commercially successful candy with wonka imprinted on it...
love it, so good memories.
no one can sing it better the Wilder, but Maroon 5 you manged to trail this Wilders version by hair. Great work.
