Strida it's the best and fast intermodal bike in my opinion. Easy to carry like a baby's car. Faster folding than Brompton. The bad? No speeds except evo 3 model. Folded it's a bit bigger but it's narrow than brompton, better in some space conditions. Strida also have a 18" model. Anyway two models are great intermodal bikes.
That's all true! I have the Strida EVO with 18" wheels, so it goes pretty fast. Not as fast as my Brompton, but fast enough for city riding. And I've gotten a lot faster at folding the Strida now that I've had it for a few months. ;)
As a comparison video, this video is unfair to the Strida. I still confused how to unfold the Bromton with more than 7 steps to finish. But the lady like a magician that can finished within 20 sec.
The Brompton has 5 steps to fold/unfold (2 of which can be done simultaneously if you're adept). 1. Unfold left pedal 2. Raise seatpost 3. Unfold handlebars 4. Pivot front wheel 5. Flip open rear wheel (as I said, many folks do #'s 4 and 5 in the same motion).
Amazing how you manage to make folding & unfolding the (beautifully designed and superbly functional) Strida SO much more cumbersome than it is... Might more practice and/or less, er, bias be helpful? 🤔
I do admit in the description that I'm new to the Strida fold, but even 2 years later it is still a bit cumbersome. I think this is because I'm short - it's a stretch to reach across the bike frame and press that locking latch. I've tried a few different ways, and though I've gotten much better at it, I can't make my arms any longer!
I made a video comparing the ride! This is the link: ua-cam.com/video/kAdQOv3ja04/v-deo.html I also wrote a blog post detailing the differences between the Brompton and the Strida: bromptoning.com/bike-specs/brompton-vs-strida-comparing-2-iconic-folding-bikes/
This is why I bought one! I drive a GTI and want to have my bike with me while traveling and not have it hanging on the outside of the car (I am 6'1" though so it's going behind the passenger seat 😆)
Sure! My Brompton is 24 pounds (11kg). It's a 6-speed with a steel frame, so one of the heaviest models. The single-speed and 2-speed are lighter because they don't have the internal gear hub that the 3-speed and 6-speed have. Brompton also makes a super light titanium model with the same small fold. It weighs just 16.4 pounds (7.45kg).
The Strida certainly is a strange little bike! It's fun, but the Brompton is still my main bike. So no "Stridaing" channel; the Strida will simply guest star occasionally on Bromptoning. ;)
@@bromptoning I'm using strida for the everyday commuting travels on train (since 10 years). I've used it also to explore cities. It's my main folding bike but not my main bike. I believe Brompton could be the main bike for many users, with few room at home or to have always in the trunk of the car. But Strida could be the favorite, to be used jumping on trains, visiting a shop, as it can be quickly collapsed and easily moved it on its wheels.
@@bromptoning they may have stopped selling non-electric version, their site is a-bike.co.uk/product-category/bikes/ and emailing them or phoning is best to find out availability.
The demonstration lady seems unfamiliar and awful on how to fold and unfold the Strida, but looks like an expert to operate the Brompton. You just need to learn some skill and can fold and unfold the Strida within 10 second with just little effort. Go to check other video related Strida for details.
Ha! I believe the Strida is simpler (it only has one hinge movement after all), but folding the Brompton does become second nature if you've been doing it a while. :D
I typically fold/unfold my Strida much faster than demonstrated here. You can lock/unlock all the bars in one move.

You are completely wrong! There is a second gearful Strida (sd).

The strida folds very fast, impressive. How does it ride in comparison to the Brompton? Maybe a video comparing the ride?

My Brompton fits in the footwell behind the driver’s seat in my Golf 😃
Bromptons are a handy little fold!

@@NoZenith - Perfect combination!👍🙂
i didn't know the Brampton folded up so small , would you be able to tell me the weight please

11 kg is not too heavy, I'll have to look into buying one 👍
Very satisfying! The Strida is an odd beast! Does this mean a "Stridaing" channel is in the works?

👍
Does this mean a new channel called "Striding"?
Not presently! I don't make enough content for two channels, so Bromptoning will continue to cover all our folding bike videos. :)
Next try an A-Bike
Now those are tiny! Unfortunately I can't find anyone in Canada who sells A-Bikes right now.

A-Bike's are tiny, but also slow and a hazard to the user.

Haha! Yes, the "demonstration lady" is new at folding the Strida. She is much better now.

seems as if she's just bought a strida and has no idea how to fold/unfolt it fast and gently
Stride's a awkward looking bike ... Naah...
It's me, I'm awkward! Folding the Strida looks much less awkward now that I'm getting the hang of it.
brompton лучше! привет из москвы.
Hello, Moscow! Hi back from Toronto! :D
Brompton 1. Strida nil.
