Mount Roland stands at 1233 metres above sea level and provides a stunning backdrop to the Kentish Municipality. The walk takes in the plains and plateau leading to the summit of the peak and there are two tracks to the summit.
The second - and preferred - walking track starts at Gowrie Park Village on O’Neill’s Road off the C136 Walking time takes from four to six hours return. This is the easiest track to walk to the summit as it has a moderate incline.
The trig point at the top of the summit provides spectacular 360 degree views to Bass Strait, Cradle Mountain and Barn Bluff.

Mount Roland, a great testament to the 1906 Honeymooners and there fantastic walk! So much green vegetation on this hike. Great views from the platform on the way up. Great close up floral shots! The Cockatoo’s were very impressive. Stunning views from the top. A great linear trek! 👍

Sheffield is a pretty town and we loved all the murals. We did a heritage/mural walk. A future video to be uploaded.
I love these bush walks. The something about the uniqueness of the look of Tassie but there is no mistaking that is still Australia. That blue haze in the hills, the hilly stuff looks like Victoria high country and the lower regions look a bit Gippsland or NE Victoria. But still uniquely Tassie. Love it.

Lovely walk through really varied forest scenery. Well defined trail looked really enjoyable. A lot to see en route and those expansive views higher up were really impressive. The cockatoos were a really great sighting. The rocky summit looked perfect for your lunch stop with plenty of stony seats! Nice day out once more. Hope you both are well. Best wishes, Robert & Ivor.
