    A Glimpse of Vivekananda Kendra’s work in North East India.

    The Northeast region is considered the crown of Bharat. A harmonious Social Order based o cultural values is still prevalent in living form in all the eight States of the Northeastern region. Preservation, protection and promotion of the indigenous culture of this region is of utmost importance. In the context of challenges of modernity and anti-national forces working in the region, Mananeeya Eknathji Ranade, founder of Vivekananda Kendra, and an astute visionary, was very particular that appropriate multi-dimensional activities should be undertaken here.
    With this vision, Kendra is working in the region with the theme “Development through Culture”. Kendra has numerous active branch centers in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Nagaland and is slowly increasing its activities to the other Northeastern States.
    Projects of Vivekananda Kendra at North East:
    1. Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalayas
    Aim and Objectives : To impart Man-Making - Nation-Building Education.
    Activities : Running residential and non-residential schools

    2. Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti
    Aim and Objectives : Development Through Culture
    Activities : Anoupacharik Shiksha Manch, Svasthya Seva Manch, Yuva Manch, Mahila Manch, Samskritik Manch
    Location : In all districts of Arunachal Pradesh
    3. Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture
    Aim and Objectives : Development Through Culture
    Activities : Organization of Seminars, Workshops, Documentation Projects, Lecture Series, Study Circle and a Reference Library

    4. Vivekananda Kendra Rural Welfare Project
    Aim and Objectives : Socio-economic project aimed at all round development of tribal women.
    Activities : Training-cum-production center in weaving, knitting, tailoring, embroidery, different agro based training and demonstration

    5. Swasthya Seva
    Aim and Objectives : Medical services
    Activities : Vivekananda Kendra NRL Hospital - Treatment through modern technology and regular medical camps in 45 villages. “VK-NRL School of Nursing” -80 students.

    In addition to the above, the Branch centers in different Districts also carry out various service activities.
    The ever increasing work in North East: Nestling in the hilly terrains and flashed by first rays of Sun, here lives in North East more than 185 tribes. Vivekananda Kendra started working in the region four decades ago. Multitudes of workers with relentless service coupled with immense love of the local populace have made Vivekananda Kendra to be the most known Social Service organization. The presence of service activities of Vivekananda Kendra is the most cherished desire of the people of the region.
