I got my kindergarten from generation today too!! I’m anxiously awaiting the math to come. My 5 yo was very interested and wanted to start right away! This is my first year homeschooling. I’ll have to check into all about reading now 😂
I'm eagerly waiting for my order to come in, so excited 🎉 I do like their approach to phonics, tried and true. Both of my little ones learned to read by 4, following Jady A. approach and my kindergartner is reading level 3 Bob books along with their workbooks. I feel its less confusing for them at this age and they feel so proud to be able to read🤗 I think I will start this kindergarten program with my 4 year old and do level 1 with my 5 year old 😊
Hey!! Will you be able to fo a flipthrough of the kindergarten math anytime soon? Im trying to decide between generations and horizon or if i should get both. I trust your reviews. You show pros and cons that are super helpful.
@@rojo1124 I just filmed it tonight. It will be released Monday morning. In short, I'm really impressed and want to send my son back to kindergarten so we can do it 😄 I don't have any experience with Horizon so I can't compare that for you. Thanks for your kind words!
Our daughter is soon to be 6 (September 20), we are from Colombia, but we live in Italy (moved here 4 months ago). So English is not our first language. I was wondering (and wanted to ask you) if it would be a good idea to start with this curriculum for her, even if it’s a bit “behind” for her age. Thank you in advance! Just found your channel and I’m loving your content! God bless you and your family ♥️
@@anamauru Wow, that is so neat! Can I come visit! 😄 I'm really unqualified to answer that but I would think maybe yes. Starting at a kindergarten level makes sense. I might be wrong about this but I think if you live overseas you might be able to get Generations to send you a digital download rather than paying for shipping. I would also consider looking into the All About Spelling app. It's just the alphabet, phonograms and blends but could be really helpful for hearing the sounds and creating words.
I had originally started teaching my son (almost 4) phonics for the alphabet and then I found you 😅 so I tried to start over and do it with the all about spelling method and he had suuuuch a hard time understanding the difference. What would you recommend doing going forward?
@@aliciapauline8154 Honestly, learn the AAS rules yourself and teach them to your son as you go. I teach the rules to my youngest as we are reading or journaling. When he gets stumped I repeat all the sound possibilities and/or rules that apply. Probably not what you want to hear.
To be fair, All About Reading teaches the short sounds first, and only later in Level 1 introduce the other sounds. But I see your point about the other sounds of O being shown in the example is confusing.
@@anaf.848 ok, good to know. I actually taught my kids to read through All About Spelling and only used the AAR readers. We did learn all the sounds first. I think the point of not introducing rule breakers until they know all the sounds is still helpful and that's what the readers do. Thanks for your comment.
Does the history seem a bit much for kindergarten? I’m considering using it for my upcoming kindergartner. Are the reading sections long? My daughter seems to have a hard time staying focused on her prek stuff.
@@calistabell5930 because it's a chapter a week you could read just a short section every two or three days and get it done easily. I don't think it's long. We actually used level 1 history when my son was in kindergarten and he really loved listening to the stories. They do a great job with them.
I’ve read through all of the sample sections with my kids that range down to newly 3. The youngest doesn’t recall all the answers perfectly but it’s definitely suitable for K!
I have a question… is Generations a Jesuit company or are they pro Jesuit teachings? I see that they spotlight some church fathers that are more associated with Anglican or Catholics. What is their denomination?
By the way, talking about lessons 35, letter O...in their defense, you read a scripture passage and all the student needs to do is recognize the letter O and circle it. It has nothing to do with phonics 🫣😘
