I agree with you that education is key as a defense mechanism but I defer that we can rely only on it. Actually, I would say that skepticism, code words, and OOB are all part of Education (as ways of protection). We need technology support too, the idea of labeling is an interesting one, to be fair, it looks like some sort of CA to say it that, platforms may use the labeling (or lack of it) to warn the user that the video/voice file was generated with "an untrusted app". In the case of calling, it would be more difficult to find a solution but actually before the deepfake, in my country, we were already facing fake calling threads (yep, my granny was a victim of it). Long story short, Education + technology control mechanism I believe is a more robust solution. BTW, I appreciate your videos, are very educational, very trendy, and the way you explain is very engaging to the audience :)
Thanks for watching and for your well thought out comments. I agree that we need to use all the tools available at our disposal. Yes, you could make software flag unverified videos but, my guess is that this would end up being most of the videos people see since we see so much content that is recorded on phones by individuals. It will be hard to distinguish between all those harmless ones and a few deepfakes thrown into the mix on a social media site
Hi Jeff, Thank you for all the efforts you put into making these videos, Evertime there is a video from you, I make it a priority to watch it, No one could have taught security simpler than you do.
Education is indeed #1 and was considering a code word these past days yet i have a feeling high level targeting campaigns will find out the code word...not a trouble for the regular person though
This video is excellent! And also slightly terrifying; the idea that a family member could call me up in a desperate state, but that could just be a deep fake and that I'd need to decide...
Oprah should have had interviewed Jeff last night. All the better for us all to admit we need giants leading us in the AI race. Go go go IBM. And Jeff of course.
@@jeffcrumesame goes here Jeff we appreciate the effort you and IBM make to educate people otherwise would have to find somewhere else. Trust you guys.
Thanks to you and the whole IBM team for producing these videos! They are really helpful in the education effort.
Thank you for watching!
Hey do you use a lightboard to write on the screen?
I seen ur other videoon lightboards. now I know you do. Anyways the board is expensive, i wondr if there is other way to writeon the screen?
I can still tell deep fakes apart. Maybe not for long.
Right and some are so good already that you really can’t tell

The coin deep fake detector was hilarious 😂
I’m glad you liked that. I actually dropped the coin on the first take so we had to reshoot that section 😂

Code words are fine for most cases. Just realize that they are not foolproof
A really good video which also gives amazing insight on why some solutions to the deepfake problem are not effective while others are !! 🌟🌟
So glad you liked it!

Exactly right. I wish it weren’t the case, but I hope we can at least prepare people for it
That coin flip! "Annnnddd.... yep, deep fake!"
Very high tech! 😂
The fact is not always true ! What will be a better solution?
Deep fake must not allowed
