- Most people have to put in eight hours of work to get eight hours worth of pay. But not so with some city of LA workers Investigative Reporter David Goldstein caught with hidden cameras. David Goldstein reports.
Our city workers are so productive, they can work 9 hours in a 90 minute time frame. IT'S A MIRACLE!!!

I worked for a city government and was promoted to a position in Traffic Violations / Parking Collections. The first day about 9 A.M. I went to pick up the tickets at the Police Station across the street and was shown where my predecessors desk was. I asked why he had a desk and was told he sat there every day and read the newspaper until lunch time. When I went back to TV/PC they asked how'd I get done so fast. In over 10 years they never wondered why it took 3 hours for someone to pick up a 1 inch stack of tickets.
Government jobs are not for a hard working individual with morals. If you show up your lazy corrupt coworkers by working hard, cruel office politics will conspire to fire you due to a lame excuse.
Not only should these crooks be fired, but their supervisors, and the supervisor's bosses should all be fired....after they've paid back all the money they've STOLEN.
Where can I get an application for that job? I stay at least Half a day before leaving

What a wonderful government job these guys have. I work my ass straight 8 to 10 hrs a day, sometime I take break and lunch late, and my salary not even 90k a year. These city employed guys have very cool and generous boss to let them leave job after clock in to work 1 or 2 hour. It is beyond my comprehension.

As a city employee that's works very hard we get hell from management but most management get to do whatever they want to do in the city ..
I had a supervisor who disliked me. He expected me to always be moving my arms and fingers at work. If he saw me in front of my computer station motionless, he would berate me. I replied with “my job also includes coming up with new ideas and processes. That requires me to stop what I was doing and think of things thus my body was motionless”. He suspended me one week without pay.
You should have told him that your eyes were moving as you read from the computer monitor. Your supervisor is such a jerk.

I always wondered when I was working retail how people would come in during regular hours to make purchases. I was like "how the fuck you have tuesday at 10am off?"

This to me is completely system failure. The employees for taking advantage and lacking morals, supervisors for allowing this to happen, and administration also for allowing it to happen. More on the supervisors because their job is to ensure that the work gets done properly and ensure that employees are at work on time and doing the assigned tasks. I am a state employee for a different state and if we did anything like this we would be fired without a chance to explain.

I gotta say, my father was a pressman for the Los Angeles Times for 28 years... In the day (He retired in 1998), they would run the front page (11pm) and finish by 5am (He started work at 10pm). They would 'bust out' and leave from a hour to hour and a half early and get paid...
This is a clear example of why we need to invest more in our city employees, providing them with increased pay so that they can do their job without living on slave wages.

It is not a big problem. Actually, city workers should have the whole their work done, but they are not extra-important service members to stay at the work a whole day.

It is absolutely unbelievable how many places this goes on in the “GOVERNMENT FACILITIES,” my sisters boyfriend, who my mom and I introduced her to, is a Sheriff at the penitentiary, and he just drives the inmates to court. Therefore he basically does the same thing he gets paid for a full 8-10 hr shift but in reality only works maybe 2 hours, maybe 3 maximum per day, then he either sits and watches court proceedings, or goes and does whatever he wants for the rest of the day, and gets paid for it?!??!!🤔😱😨😰

Spence937: Well one of my buddies is a garage mechanic for the town. He works nights and he tells me the supervisor leaves at 5pm and it's a free for all. He's always sending me pictures of him seating down with his feet up on a table. He says "Don't get dirty after 6:30". My other buddy is a custodian for the Board of Education. He also works nights. His shift starts at 3pm and he cleans a few classrooms til 6pm. He goes home for dinner and returns back to work at 7pm. He also sends me pictures of him sitting down with his feet up on s table. I want a job like my buddies.

I work in drilling and sometimes your hours are like 5 - 8 and if it is drilling you won't work at the place your truck is stored you go to different locations for your jobs. Also the fact that they followed em a few days and they never did anything is a complete waste of the citys money. *the company i work for is private and not owned by the city*
