    Hi Greg and Jenny! Just a question, When you do a jump smash, is it important to raise your non racket hand in the air and the legs be bent like a 90degree angle?

    • @BadmintonInsight
      @BadmintonInsight  10 місяців тому +1

      Non-racket hand up = yes definitely! This helps your timing, balance and rotation. For the legs to be bent to a 90 degree, no this isn’t important! But some players do it when they get a loooot of height on their jump and it helps them to really stretch out their chest!

    Hitting a smash is also a bit like throwing a punch from another perspective. When you are getting ready to punch, you keep your hands relaxed and loose and only clench your fist ideally at the moment of impact. Likewise, you should tighten your fingers around the racquet only at the moment it hits the shuttle or just before.

  • @rb-ex
    @rb-ex 10 місяців тому +20

    it's a good rundown. i would also include the chinese jump smash. it's neither a stick smash nor a jump-out smash because your body is turned in preparation but you don't rotate your hips. we saw this one a lot from lin dan and also LCW, and it is used by a lot of players now. also any of these smashes may include some degree of forward or reverse slice, and of course power variations. the trick is to not only master it all technically, which takes a lot of work, but also to develop awareness and tactical skill so you intuitively know how to craft your attack for the situation, which takes even more work

  • @TechMasterRus
    @TechMasterRus 10 місяців тому

    Moving towards the shuttle while smashing is not so necessary because of momentum. The smash speed is 200, 300, 400 km/m, your body speed is maybe 10-15 km/h at that moment. Adding or substracting such small speed makes almost no difference. The real difference is where your body is moving after smash. It's important to move forward to make a next possible shot after your opponent's defense.
