as a rap fan. listen to the FLOW of the lyrics, take in the cadence and the way parker comes up with these lyrical flows. dont even pay attention to the context of the lyrics. its similar to rap and it just sounds sooooo refreshing
check out their song daughters man. dont focus on the lyrics, they didnt age well. but listen to the flow and the amount of shit packed into a minute and thirty seconds
I’ll never forget the moment I heard them for the first time and felt like I finally found music that truly resonated with me sonically and lyrically. Under soil and dirt will always be my favourite album, hands down.
I wonder about what their new album is going to sound like. Is it going to be a progression from Proper Dose or something more similar to their early stuff? Either way, I think I'll enjoy listening to anything they put out next, but I can't help being curious. Hopefully, they will release new songs soon. It's about time, TSSF!
I found the story so far earlier this year after listing to bands in the scene since my teenage years. For whatever reason I never checked them out or thought they weren’t heavy enough for me. Now in my mid 20s I don’t think there was a better time for me to start listening to this band. It seems like every song I can’t relate to and was personal written for me to hear. Great video! For sure subscribed and keep up the great content.
I love the story so far so much. I live in the valley and went to the Bay to go find the album cover ‘while you were sleeping’ and took the same picture as the EP. So stoked for the new album. Thank you so much for shedding light on the next one!!!
wow dude crazy i was at that very same exact 2014 Chitown warped tour although me and my friends are not from the city i actually did not see them play live and didn't discover them until maybe a year or two later i love the idea of harcore influences in pop punk and you can feel that in their early instrumentals kinda surprising that didn't become the norm for the 2010s
These guys along with The Wonder Years are the best modern pop punk bands to me. Got me through plenty of tough times, along with delivering some of my favorite pieces of music and most memorable concert experience
Watching all these clips makes me so jealous I couldn’t have seen them back then, I’ve been to two tssf shows both within the past year and there was definitely not this much energy on stage and the crowd was really hit or miss

I saw them last year before blink-182 in Germany. Since then I can’t stop listening to them. Need to go deeper into no pressure. And your channel too! Subscribed.
Hey man! First time watching one of your videos and it rocked!! I am a 24 year old from Chicago and when you talked about how 24 year old you needed Proper Dose, that was wild! That was my #1 song this past year, just the whole album is awesome! Keep up the great work and I can’t wait to watch more of your content!! Rock on
HELL YEAH thank you Tommy!!! Proper Dose is such a powerful album; I continue to find relatability within it even in my 30s haha. Appreciate you so much for watching, man 🙏
I'll never forget the first time I heard Things I Can't Change on my Pandora Title Fight radio. Life hasn't been the same since... I've seen them 3 times and their self titled album got me through the worst breakup of my life. TSSF forever man
Got the opportunity to hang with the band almost 10 years ago now in their Vero Beach, FL show back in 2013. I started listening to tssf for the first time in my first semester of college in the fall of 2012. Their music hit home as all my friends went away to school and I never related to a band as hard as I have with them. I was lucky enough to have Kelen hook my friend and I up with guest spot passes through Twitter messaging back and forth. After the show we were able to chill with the guys and some other bands like rotting out and such gold. Was a sick time, these guys’ music still hits home to this day. It’s been wild to see them grow to where they are at now. Excited to see what’s to come in the future for them.
I actually remember Parker saying Turnstile was his "favorite band from the past 10 years" when they played their first late night tv gig (I think it was Seth Meyers or something), so I'd say maybe that was their biggest hc influence. Great video!!
Awesome video. Subscribed. Discovered TSSF the summer of 2012 when I was 17. Life was changed, TSSF was my bridge to hardcore for sure. One of my first tattoos was from a TSSF flag, still one of the most influential bands on my life to this day I’m 27 now
Saw them for the first time in 2014 and it sparked a love for their music for years. I’ve seen them 6-7 times now live and their music was super impactful growing up. States and Minds / Roam is probably the most listened to Awesome video (Had to throw in a story, went to a throwback punk show in like 2016-2017 in the bay when self titled came out I think and they were opening for a set of sticky little fingers, vandals, pennywise, and bad religion. Some of the old fools there actually tried to boo them once or twice 😂 it was so strange, felt like everyone was looking at them sideways too, Parker was low key pissed as I would have been too)
Appreciate you watching!!! Right on, sounds like you and I are very similar in that regard, no lie States and Minds / Roam are my favorite first two songs from any of their albums. That's so wild to hear! Especially from the bay. Goes to show there's gatekeepers everywhere man 🙃
Was lucky enough to find them through a friend in 2010 before the Maker split dropped. I jammed While You Were Sleeping on repeat and the only time anyone has ever crowd surfed while I was playing was during a cover of Ali. I'll always remember how stoked I was when my pre order code for USAD came a day early.
A modern masterpiece 💯 and I think you hit the nail on the head with Parker’s aggressive yet rhythmic vocal style; appreciate you being in the video man 🙏
We have a very similar journey. I just turned 28 in September and my first warped was 2011. I’ve never been able to explain my connection to tssf. It’s almost like every song that comes out I immediately have a connection to it like the Melodies and lyrics were always within me. It’s just so damn weird. Will never explain it but I’ve never connected with music like this.
@@JawncoreIL I think its a new complete sound that they had created since their first two albums had fast pop punk songs while self titled had slow songs and its like an alternative album.
What I love the most about Parker lyrically is that he aint afraid to say "FUCK MY EX" in the most clever way possible. Most pop punk and emo vocalist would cry about their ex and write about how they blame themselves for the fallout of the relationship which to be honest it gets kinda annoying and rather comes off defeatist. But here comes Parker being like "Nah fuck her." Were there times he took it too far? Yeah he has and some of it did come off misogynistic. But lets be real, everyone has an ex they absolutely hate. I jokingly like to say Parker is to Pop Punk as Future is to rap.
As a huge fan of this band, never once has Parker written anything misogynistic whatsoever and the third paragraph totally stomped on the roll you were on cuz you were definitely correct there. Never once did he "take it too far". And also, it's his art. He can take it as far as he wants.
@@Rob_Cary I mean Daughters and Mt Diablo alone had lyrics that it was taken too far. I get where he was coming from when he wrote it, but the whole "who you let in between your thighs" or "and to think you are somebody's daughter" does come off eye brow raising. Mind you, this is coming from a guy who LOVES boths songs, has MT Diablo in his top 5 favorite TSSF songs of all time, carries a TSSF wall flag in his room, has seen both TSSF AND No Pressure live, and had the pleasure to meet Parker a few times. I never said he himself is a misogynist, Im just saying certain lyrics came off in poor taste. You can still love your favorite artists and critique parts of their work or behavior. Its not that hard.
That's crazy, how we made such different experiences. I went to Rise Against some time ago, where TSSF played support. They're about my second favorite band right now, so I was naturally super excited to see them live for the first time. But I was utterly disappointed by their live performance, I had honestly never seen such a bad act before. Everyone stood totally still and looked bored, no interaction with the crowd whatsoever and not even a tiny bit of talk between songs. They didn't suck musically, they played everything right, but the vibe was dead at arrival. 2/10 from me. I still like them a lot, but if they wanna tour with blink-182 next year, they seriously gotta step up their game.
They’re sick of playing behind barriers for fake fans; that’s why they put no effort in anymore. Watch any of their performances pre-2015 and Parker with his new band No Pressure and you’ll see a STARK difference in the energy
It's all about the realness and the venomous approach as opposed to the approach alot of other bands in this genre take where they literally give their exes the satisfaction of knowing how much they hurt them in the form of more heartbroken lyrics. More people should take Parker's approach and honestly should take the hostility factor even farther.
I think nowadays they’re a lot more chilled out on-stage BECAUSE they know the crowds will take care of the rest. Which I’m cool with personally; long as there’s movement, that’s why I emphasized the crowds (and types of people who go to their shows) when I talked up their live shows.
guy really? their biggest influence was new found glory. they got their name from an NFG song title. and NFG was the band to pioneer easycore. NFG did a tour called the easy core tour, in which they had four year strong, a day to remember, and set your goals open for them, when all of said bands were not huge yet. get your shit straight man.
NFG was not as big of an influence on them as you think. There’s an old interview with Will and Parker where they say they “randomly scrolled through their iPod looking at song titles that would make a good band name” and stumbled upon the name. East coast pop punk/hardcore (transit, a loss for words etc.) and their own local scene (set your goals, Bay Area hxc, etc.) were definitely the biggest influences on their sound; and they mention all of this in a lot of earlier interviews as well.
