This is something that is nearly extinct here in the States … music for the sake of music rather than for self-prominence and the dream of being idolized by throngs of screaming fans. This is exquisitely beautiful music, skillfully executed; no frills, no fanfare, no egos, no gimmicks. It's reassuring to know that music of such superb quality still exists somewhere. Even if only in Barcelona.
This is a beautiful comment and so true--thank you for understanding the depth of what we're hearing. From another North Coast musician (Cleveland) now in L.A.
So very true. If they were in the US, they couldn't survive the money grabbing commercial interests that would tear apart what Mr. Chamorro has tried to do and has successfully accomplished. Thanks to this forum, we get a taste of the good stuff that is happening across the big pond.
@@chauncywashington2227 I've had the same thoughts. At first I kept hoping, "Come to the US." Now I'm thinking, "No, better if you stay away." So sad for our country, so fortunate for theirs.
UA-cam enables this lovely music to reach us in the US and throughout the world. Sant Andreu school is the finest example I know of, but there are many others on youtube.
For a comparison all I can think of is the all-girl swing band in Japan. I've heard a few of their videos and they are comparable in quality to SAJB but not in breadth of styles and genres. Mr. C has a unique thing going and I for one am ready for whatever is coming next!
It is indeed uncanny how Joan Chamorro can place his lovely, talented vocalists/singers into the music that brings out the best of their individual qualities and talents. In this case, the very lovely Elia Bastida, with her delicate, beautiful voice and delivery of this Jobim love song. Top that with the gorgeous appearance of Andrea Motis with sensitive vocals, making this an unbelievably beautiful performance. Josep Traver, Ignasi Terraza, the man himself Joan Chamorro and Esteve Pi sending us into a dreamy ride with their touching, tactful musical renderings. All I can say is: WOW!!! My listening experience remain deeply rewarded by Maestro Chamorro's choice of music and his gifted and talented musicians. What a blessing! I have one request, however: Antonio Carlos Jobim's Fotografia, sung by Elia Bastida. That lovely song has her name on it! She would knock it out of the park, for sure! As always, thank all of you for bringing us these delicious moments...it does my heart good.
I am fond of bosanova for 25 years or so but never heard this brilliant song until recently thanks to this video. It seems to be performed rather rare but I listened to maybe all of it's versions available in internet. This one is driving to tears. Bravo Elia!
Honestly, the most beautiful piece from the Joan Chamorro collection in addition to "O barquinho". Elia Bastida makes it so. She has the most sublime and demure vocalization of anyone I've heard in recent memory. Congratulations on discovering this Mother of all Pearls!
Yes! - we English-only speakers are so lucky to be able to enjoy an extra set of sounds (instead of understanding) that is the beauty of the Portuguese language
So incredibly beautiful! Thank you Maestro Chamorro. Your music always transports me to a better place.
...puhhh...I started January with SAJB and there is no end. What a luck! I thank you and I love you and your wonderful music( I say it again and again and again and it`s true...) 💖💖💖
Bravo is a great theme and a terrific performance !! Thank you all ... Sensual vocals and beautiful and sweet musicians... With love from Denmark and Siberia Russia.

Parabéns à todos do grupo! 👏🎼
A Lovely Performance! Ms. Bastida has a nice, smoky alto to compliment her excellent violin playing! Mr. Oliver - I love your sound, sensitivity and how you structure your solo here, and everywhere else I have heard you on this channel! Bravo!
Bellissima Canzone e interpretazione come sempre coinvolgente !! Grazie a Elia Andrea e Chamorro ! !!! e aggiungo Josep Traver raffinatissimo chitarrista di alta classe !

Agree! Gives me hope, carried over to a high school student here, in love with it

There are a million reasons to love Barcelona. This band is about 300,000 of them. For me, SAJB is the finest youth jazz program in the world.
I say Joan Chamorro is the greatest BB/swing bandleader ever. Ever.

Elia's performances often have a soft elegance to them. C'est si bon.
Sublime Elia, quelle interprétation ! vos voix se complètent à merveille. LOVE !!
So elegant, so heartfelt... thank you, Elia Bastida.

Obsessed with this song , listening for countless times to different versions and this is one of the best.
Honestly, the most beautiful piece from the Joan Chamorro collection in addition to "O barquinho". Elia Bastida makes it so. She has the most sublime and demure vocalization of anyone I've heard in recent memory. Congratulations on discovering this Mother of all Pearls!
Sensual, full of emotion, no need to understand the words. Nice guitar and sax

such simpatico too!
That tight vibrato in Elia's voice at the beginning of the song is perfectly beautiful.
Uma das mais lindas canções de amor. Interpretação vocal perfeita pelas duas moças. Muito obrigado para publicares, Joan!
So incredibly beautiful! Thank you Maestro Chamorro. Your music always transports me to a better place.

Thnks for the nice comment regarding to samba, but this is Bossa Nova.
Pretty song well interpreted by vocalist Elia and harmonized by Andrea. Super tenor sax solo. Nice big band backing.
Wow! World class performance. Elia and Andrea are so in tune with each other that a beautiful duet ensues!
Lovely Elia..., the guitarist is tops...,

Joseph Traver is a backbone of this song. He creates the whole atmosphere. Joan, of course, you put all this together. I bow to all of you.
