Thanks! It depends. I think you can control the facade quite well using grasshopper. For the inside (structural core, elevator core, etc.) you could use Rhino or Revit. Whichever tool is best for the job, there's no right answer. Ideally, once the form is finalized you could transfer the model to a BIM platform and continue working there.
Hi Luke. There are a few methods. One way is to calculate each box's distance from its nearest neighbor using its centroid (Volume + ClosestPoint). If the closest point is larger than the grid length then that means that there is no box directly above, below, or adjacent to that box, in which case you can eliminate it using Dispatch or Cull. There are a couple of other ways such as checking if each face is coincident with another box's face, etc, but those can get more complicated.
Great video. With the Random Reduce at the end of the video, some of the cubes that are added back end up floating/not touching other cubes. Wondering how you would go about identifying or eliminating cubes whose face or edge is not touching another cube?
Hi Scott. There is a way. You could run a BREP|BREP intersect command or probably easier is to run a closest point command for each of the cubes. If the closest point is too far from the adjacent cube then you can filter it out. This won't eliminate cubes that are hanging on by a single corner, however. In that case, I would try averaging the distance between the closest 3-4 cubes (ClosestPts) and filter that.

How do you hide elements?
Hi Dana. I use Ctrl+Q and also have changed my Ctrl+Shift+Q to "Toggle Preview Off"

Interesting, I believe it's possible to export the final file to 3D Max but not the Grasshopper definition.
