The most beautiful unspoken confession I’ve ever seen. At the time, Frieren didn’t know, or cared to know the significance of it. It’s obvious how much that ring means to her now. Loved Himmel’s moment of serendipity (his facial expression) knowing that the ring’s mirrored-lotus design was symbolic for eternal love. That it would be a reminder for Frieren long after he was gone. The bell ringing in the tower triggered Frieren’s memories of that moment in time. Love how this was tied into the main story. It’s brilliant.
I especially love how the shadows on the buildings behind them can be used to indicate their lifespans; The shadows behind Frieren are barely cresting into frame, while Himmel's are much higher. Despite having lived well over 10x as long as him, Frieren has MUCH more life left to live than Himmel does. And then, in between the two lovers-who-might-have-been, is a clock. Time is the one thing standing between them.
When you remember the guy they were traveling with was an accessories merchant, it makes sense that he might have a spell that can find such trinkets on himself. So not as random as you might think. And Frieren did look for that ring for a week or more (as they were fixing the carriage), every night, so the lesson there for her is to just ask for help. Had she done that from the start she could have slept more all those nights she spent searching.
The fact that the dance scene in the manga is like 1 image and in the anime we have this beautiful 1min-long scene... This anime is filled and overflowing with love, I'll never thank enough the people behind the adaptation for that. Also, ponytail Frieren is really pretty !
The way Frieren shows affection is the same way Heiter did with her. Just remember the first episode, where he rubs his hand on her head when he meets her again after 50 years and later when she cries for not having known Himmel better in life. That's why he says that her way of praising was better than expected, as it's one of the few ways she knows of showing affection and praising someone. And the scene of Eisen running through water happened in episode 3, 4 or 5 (most probably 3 or 4).
Episode 15 is a fantastic example of how anime can improve upon a manga. The Fern and Stark dance scene was one small side panel in the manga. But here it's shown in a much more significant way.
That is really convenient, people loose things --> you use the spell --> you take their items --> you sell them back or to other poeple. Such a good business model...
@@cedricmichaud552that’s funny, I was thinking of it from a more wholesome standpoint, like he probably wants people to proudly wear his merchandise as a form of advertising. “Hey where’d you get that bracelet? It’s lovely!” “Oh I got it at Todd Blankenship Accessories.” Bam. Referral customer. 😂
actually kindof makes sense for an accessory merchant to possess a spell for finding lost accessories. i mean it helps minimize lost goods. by the way the dance animation was 99.9% anime original. the dance in the manga only was ONE PANEL. they didn't even need to animate the legs and full body they could have just focused on the head and torso and it would have been good enough. but they went all extra effort on it.
Its rotoscoping, they had professionals dancer to create the dance scene and adapt to the anime. The animators ask director how they gonna adapt it since manga only have 1 image for dance scene. And he just give greenlight to whatever they want
When Sein spoke of "his current abilities" he was referring to what he could do without the proper materials/sacraments on hand. Just before this, he was discussing how he could break the curse but he would need the proper materials to do it and it would be faster to simply kill the source of the curse rather than gathering up everything he needed.
The dance sequence is so beautiful. The animation, the music and the two lovebirds. At the same time though I cant help but to think how painful it must have been for the father to watch.
This animé is so well written it's the 2nd time I watch these episode and I always tear or get emotional at the same time than you Luke 😂😂 last time already omg
Completely random fact about this series. In Japan popularity polls are usually done, and obviously Himmel and Frieren came first, Himmel in first place surprisingly over the protagonist of the story, but the truly strange thing is that the 3rd place in popularity goes to the mimic chest that always ends trying to eat Frieren..😂
Frieren would be a completely diffferent anime if the characters were the other characters the VAs voiced. Anya from spy family (Frieren), Gabimaru from hell's paradise (Stark), Maki from love is war (fern), and Gojo (sein)
I love how beautiful the animation is in episode 15. Not just in the fight scene, and not just in the dance scene, though obviously they're amazing. But even random little moments, like Stark tiredly walking down the hall towards Fern, it's so fluid.
I just love Fern's demeanor around that bracelet she's got. She's blaming Stark for 'being an idiot' for giving it to her, but in reality this man spent 3 hours gauging her reactions to whatever accessory he presented to her. The lotus bracelet was clearly the one she had some sort of reaction to, even though she's too bashful to admit it. And they're clearly letting on that she knew the meaning behind it. Probably was unable to hide her excitement at the thought. This is what i love so much about this show, so much depth to the characters where they give you some subtle hints during the show, but the deeper you analyze it the more sense it all makes.
I cried so so sooo hard in that scene 26:22 and the Milet comes and asks u “ And r u alright?” And the usual answer is “NO I AM NOT” 💔💔💔 he loved Frieren but never tried to say cuz he knows she won’t understand 😭💔💔💔💔 ahhh if Frieren reach her last destination and met with Himmel i wonder what kind of conversation they will have !! I bet i will need a huge amount of tissues then …. But i am really happy that after they broke our hearts with ep 14 they made us smiling and screaming on how CUTE Stark and Fern together in ep 15😭😭😭😭💗💗
What's that between Himmel and Frieren when he slipped the ring on her finger? A clock tower. What does it represent? Time. It is symbolic of many things in the anime: the life span of humans and elves, the time Himmel spent pining for Frieren, the time that could have been had Frieren realized that Himmel loved her during their adventures, the time Frieren lost before she realized just how much Himmel meant to her, etc. etc.
I'm very new to your channel found it and subbed a few weeks ago. I really like that you're willing to read suggestions and try different genres. I also like that you go in blind it makes the reactions better and sets you apart from other channels at least in my opinion. i love this blue, teary eyes. Its just heartwarming #nohomo it is the best anime in this year with dangers in my heart. its just simple sugarsweet, both animes. handle with feelings and special moments every single person search for and need it. its bounding when i see through reactions, that they feel the same way i did after seeing the episodes. The scene with eisen running on the water was the 4 episode were they search for the real grimoire from flamme The dance is a well drawned masterpiece
Frieren is not an idiot in terms of normal stuff. She is immature since she did have 2.5 relationships in her life before this journey and these relationships lasted for an elf equivalent of a couple of months. This whole journey she reflects on everythig those relationships provided to her and reevaluates it. I would even claim that she is a genious to be able to reflect on herself so quickly. She almost exclusively skips the denial phase that humans rely on too much and is quick (even for a humaan, not an elf) to reach acceptance. Remmember the scene in the 1st episode of the 50 years she was alone? She experiences all her life in a similar manner, it was like a couple of weeks, maybe a month to her, it was 50 years for her human friends. Though Sein is still improving (as all priest are in this world) the mechanics of this are somewhat explained later in the manga but i won't delve into spoilers here. Also he said he does not have ritualistic tools and supplies, so he is probably reffering to that (basically he is even stronger if he can prepare).
the episode with the ring is realy amazing and at this time, I'm quite certain, that frieren actually loved himmel, but can't or doesn't want to admit it. 1. dispite her claiming, that she basicly knows nothing about him, she actually knows quite a lot. this is not something you would remember, if this person is not very special 2. in most flashbacks, frieren and himmel are close together. be it, himmel protecting her, or both of them sitting next to eachother at the camp. he is clearly the most important person to her in this group. 3. when eisen helped frieren to (re)discover flammes hideout to learn about aureole, he told her, that they where sorry for both, himmel and frieren. he said they did this because frieren was regrettfull at the funeral but you don't do all this stuff just because of a bad day. so I think heiter and eisen knew they both where in love, but unable to commit to eachother and this is realy why they did it. 4. Fern has many traits, that she inherited from frieren because she basicly grew up with her. we see this in the way she fights and that she is quite introverted to other people. why I mention this here is because of what she said when asked "why do you wear the lotus bracelett?" and she replies "because stark is an idiot". but it is quite clear, that she actually realy likes him. there is one other person, who gives a similar answer and that is frieren: "why do you collect all those random spells?" "because there was an idiot, who complimented me for this"
I’ll be real, I only know my own birthday. That’s it. I love my family and friends, but holidays and birthdays are just not things I ever think about often enough to remember them. The *only* holiday I actually really celebrate without prompting is New Year’s, where I have always, without fail, gone to my parents to hang out with them and talk, even if for a short amount of time.

Ep 14 makes me cry every time I watch it😭Now I really recommend you to watch the anime MV version of milet's "Anytime Anywhere". The scene selection is perfect.
I've seen a lot of people say that Frieren is basically Tolkienesque, but I disagree. I think it's pretty clear with the defeat of the Demon Lord that half of Frieren's influence are the classic fantasy JRPGs. Sure, JRPGs are influenced by early American computer RPGs, which were influenced by D&D which is ultimately influenced by Tolkien, but plot-wise, Tolkien isn't a direct influence. Instead it's a very different fantasy classic. Frieren is basically JRPGs crossed with The Journey to the West. By the way, when you rewatch the anime, look for how many times the ring appears in it prior to this episode.
Oh nooo Luke I'm so sorry to hear your wife lost her engagement ring 😥 I can imagine how painful it must have been for both of you.. I really wish you will find the ring soon! Yes definitely Frieren needs to use this spell for you
Frieren never thought much of it because she was the one that picked the ring and for sure she didn't know any meanings and her pick was random. She just considered it weird that Himmel would present her ring so seriously. Only now is she putting the two and two together and remember what he did and realize the meaning behind it. Too bad that the randomness of her pick was not emphasized enough and you all thought Himmel bought the ring for her because he wanted to express eternal love. He would not be that obvious and that was part of his charm. The beauty of it all is that he made a random event meaningful, and Frieren would not realize until years later.
What view i got from Frieren is She's basically collecting Cheat codes. Removing mossess, auto-blooming garden of flower sounds cool, but, see through clothes, fly, finding Lost items. I can tell those are not spells, but cheat codes 😂
It's funny how they call the city voriCH. You would expect them to just read the letters as written instead of this slang type of speaking even so that is how it's said more naturally
Everytime you talk about your wife you have the biggest smile on your face. Your joy is always so contagious that i end up smiling too. Keep up the good work man!
You seem to expect Eisen to be dead by the time Stark returns, but I disagree. Eisen died after he and Stark were reunited, and I am sure that frieren will attend Eisen's funeral. In other words, she will probably attend all the funerals of her former friends. frieren's Japanese title implies that she will attend the funerals of those close to her and send their souls off. (The English title has a different meaning than the Japanese title.) It is not necessary for Eisen to die in order to be reunited in heaven. The relevant person is already in heaven as follows. frieren → Himmel Fern → Heiter Starck → Brother
I'm honestly surprised at how surprised you sounded when Sein calls Fern and Stark "the lovebirds". Fern does a very bad job at hiding how much she likes Stark. She's in an interesting zone between Tsundere (hiding her feelings behind aggression) and Kuudere (hiding her feelings behind stoicism). She constantly harasses him because she wants him to be more of a model boyfriend than he is. However, Fern has no grounded or realistic expectation on what having a relationship is like because she's been alone with Frieren (a.k.a. the worst mentor regarding romance) for about half of her life by the time they meet Stark. Then suddenly, at the height of puberty, she meets a strong and kindhearted boy around her age and latched on to him hard. Meanwhile, I don't think Stark even realizes he's Fern's "boyfriend".
After each episode Millet will go : AND YOU ALRIGHT? - Like ... NO MILLET ... NO! xD I love this anime so much! Such a pleasure watching it alongside you as well ♥
He is honest about the feelings that the work want from the viewers, and I've became to feel comfortable in being able to share my feelings with him. I may have come here in a rude way. If you feel that way, I apologize for that. However, this ch has the advantage of being used for a long time, and the reactor's character is liked, I think that's obvious.
11:07: "I've simply been pretending to be an adult until I can make it as an ideal grown-up." This reminds me a lot of a line from the French comedy/drama show Kaamelott, set in the Arthurian legend. In this story, before becoming king of Britain, Arthur was just a city guard in Rome who was thrown into the role of king by politicians so that the empire could subjugate Britain. During his education, Arthur suffered from a serious case of impostor syndrome and got support from his mentor, Cesar, who said this to him: "You don't become a leader because you deserve it, you idiot! You become a leader by a combination of circumstances, you deserve it later. It took me 10 years, if not 20, not to feel inadequate in my uniform. Pretend, Arthurus. Pretend to be Dux Bellorum. Pretend to be a great leader. And if you pretend well enough, you'll see, you eventually won't need to anymore." The rest of the story is about Arthur trying to do his best as king of Britain while respecting his mentor's ideal for a great leader: to only fight for the dignity of the weak.
53:50 I do not think Eisen will die and they see him in heaven, I think Stark will see his brother Fern will see Heiter and Frieren will see Himmel and her master
5:05 One of my favourite episodes of The Simpsons is the one where Homer forgets his anniversary. He spends the entire episode looking for a last minute gift for Marge ultimately failing. He tried to lie the entire time but in the end admitted to forgetting. At which point Marge brings out a present for him. He opens it and it is a gift for Marge. She knew all along that he would forget. So her gift to him is the most precious thing for him in that moment - a gift for his wife, which he loves very much and consistently says he would be nowhere without her. Maybe we should all try to be more like Marge and cut people some slack?
That floating horse reminded me of Witcher 3's bugs at launch: Glitcher 3 Wild Bug. The ring and the bracelet might be a set? Stark keeps taking Ls. Wakeup later Stark for 5 secs epic moment, so close:)) Next quest is prostitution. Man, everything is great in this anime

Also ya double feature~
Frieren Is literally a journey. Through the world. Through the characters. Through memories.

I've seen a lot of people say that Frieren is basically Tolkienesque, but I disagree. The Water running scene is a flashback from what we say in I think episode 3 or 4.
The only thing about birthdays what makes me sad is if your own close family forgets and don't remember even afterwards
I feel this show is paced like this. E cause that just is how quickly time passes for Frieren
Oh nooo Luke I'm so sorry to hear your wife lost her engagement ring 😥 I can imagine how painful it must have been for both of you.. I really wish you will find the ring soon! Yes definitely Frieren needs to use this spell for you
This morning, I found it!!!! Honestly so happy, it's been missing for nearly a month, I thought we never would! Thank you for asking ❤️
@@GOTGames such a great news!!! So happy for you and your wife 🙌 that's perfect!
The flowers on Fern's bracelet bloomed.
But Frieren's ring has no flowers, just a bud.
15:43 flying scene, when they searched for Flamme's book with Eisen
36:40 Subspecies doesn't mean "smaller" species XD
What view i got from Frieren is She's basically collecting Cheat codes.
Removing mossess, auto-blooming garden of flower sounds cool, but, see through clothes, fly, finding Lost items.
I can tell those are not spells, but cheat codes 😂
He loved her so much.
Fern is so tsundere... It's been great following your journey through anime shows I like. Still think you should release Made in Abyss on YT.
LETS GOOO!!! im off to patreon thank you youtube for reminding me:) lol
24:28
exactly, to borrow my brother's point, imagine how much money that spell is worth
25:09 it's always in the most "random" places, try to find it in the laundry machine
My wife ended up putting it in my draw... I found it right at the back, she doesn't remember doing it but glad we found it ❤️
@@GOTGames Glad for you two!!! Always in the most random places xD
🥹❤️❤️
You seem to expect Eisen to be dead by the time Stark returns, but I disagree.
Eisen died after he and Stark were reunited, and I am sure that frieren will attend Eisen's funeral. In other words, she will probably attend all the funerals of her former friends.
frieren's Japanese title implies that she will attend the funerals of those close to her and send their souls off. (The English title has a different meaning than the Japanese title.)
It is not necessary for Eisen to die in order to be reunited in heaven.
The relevant person is already in heaven as follows.
frieren → Himmel
Fern → Heiter
Starck → Brother
Such a pleasure watching it alongside you as well ♥
Frieren pimping out Stark then eats cake for 3 months then collects her reward
He is honest about the feelings that the work want from the viewers, and I've became to feel comfortable in being able to share my feelings with him.
I may have come here in a rude way. If you feel that way, I apologize for that.
However, this ch has the advantage of being used for a long time, and the reactor's character is liked, I think that's obvious.
11:07: "I've simply been pretending to be an adult until I can make it as an ideal grown-up."
This reminds me a lot of a line from the French comedy/drama show Kaamelott, set in the Arthurian legend. In this story, before becoming king of Britain, Arthur was just a city guard in Rome who was thrown into the role of king by politicians so that the empire could subjugate Britain. During his education, Arthur suffered from a serious case of impostor syndrome and got support from his mentor, Cesar, who said this to him:
"You don't become a leader because you deserve it, you idiot! You become a leader by a combination of circumstances, you deserve it later. It took me 10 years, if not 20, not to feel inadequate in my uniform. Pretend, Arthurus. Pretend to be Dux Bellorum. Pretend to be a great leader. And if you pretend well enough, you'll see, you eventually won't need to anymore."
The rest of the story is about Arthur trying to do his best as king of Britain while respecting his mentor's ideal for a great leader: to only fight for the dignity of the weak.
53:50 I do not think Eisen will die and they see him in heaven, I think Stark will see his brother Fern will see Heiter and Frieren will see Himmel and her master
36:00 Uh oh, a giant flower that looks like it has tentacles… any magical girls around? 😈
If you love this anime, you'll also love “Violet Evergarden”.
Be sure to watch it sometime. Please
I have done my friend, you can find the entire reaction on G.O.T EXTRA ❤️
Frieren at the time thinking "what a weird way to give me a ring"
Meanwhile, 80 years later, "oh that's what it means! He was into me!"
I feel so bad for Himmel, he never get married or a girlfriend in his life.
But he was loyal AF, for sure they're gonna live a great afterlife once Frieren dies... in a lot of millenias.
guys, lets pray luke gets that ring back 🙏🙏
I found it this morning!!! ❤️❤️❤️
@@GOTGames Ayyyy lesgoooo 🎉🎉

Day 3 asking for mashle and shangri la frontier second openings reaction
Do tell if you found the ring
And react to one piece op 26
Day 39 of asking you to react to all the Maison Ikkoku openings and endings!
