What a fun video! Wish I could sample La Myrrhe. I only know Five O'Clock Eau Gingembre, and Feminite du Bois, which can be somewhat meditative. I love Youth Dew, it has the most beautiful multi-note sillage. YSL and Chanel gave it their tributes with Opium and Coco. Seems Opium has suffered over the years with so many reformilations. So glad Lauder keep making Youth dew. Imho Chanel 22 can be meditative and authoritative, and of course the church candy for Catholics, Avignon.Thanks for your delightful videos.
I woke up this morning to the most gorgeous trail of L'Heure Bleue wafting through my house! You inspired my husband to give it a try as his scent of the day, and it was beautiful on him. There are only a few fragrances he selects on repeat. While his 'daily drivers' are wonderful (Bel Respiro, You or Someone Like You, Gris Dior, Jicky, and Un Jardin Sur le Nil), I lament that I don't often experience other favorites on him. When I asked what prompted the branch-out, he gave a wry grin and said "I heard it was a good one to try this winter." Bravo, Persolaise!
I didn't know aldehydic myrrh existed, sounds right up my alley, I will check out La Myrrhe. I love incense too but I only got the salty celery seed in Dzongkha and didn't smell through that! And gotta check out Youth Dew bath oil !! Thanks Mr. P :)
Love these top tens! I'm wearing Nahema today, which I learned about from your channel. I struggle with rose notes but was determined to find one that works. Nahema is the only rose centered scent in my collection and I love her in this cold weather. Thank you 🙂
@@o2xb I quite like it! It just teeters on the edge of animalic without ever going to far, and just when I think it's a bit linear it shifts ever so slightly, becoming warmer and slightly slightly sweeter as it gets progresses.
I just blind boight Rauque, im just gonna take the plunge! Im not sure if I'll love this.. haha but it sounds beautiful and lively and bizzarre and intracate and floral and leathery, wondrous and artistic. I know im a fan of vintage inspired mens scents, i hope this might be close to that in a sense but also very much its own thing
Update : After having purchased Rauque (from Mr.P's recommendation), I am thrilled with the scent. It reminds me, somewhat unsurprisingly, of Fumarie Turque from Lutens. The tobacco is toned down and greener, but the combination of that scent with the leather and the hay is a lovely surprise. Many people remark that the opening is better than the dry down for them, but I'm in the opposite camp. The drydown is somewhat sweeter and closer to the Lutens, which I love. They're not the same in any sense, more like half-brothers. All this to say, thank you for the recommendation! In the box were also samples of Les Indemodables Patchouli Noisette, Amouage Lineage and Angelos Creations Olfactives Karikia.

Although I love La Myrrhe, L'Heure Bleue is the scent I enjoyed hearing you discuss the most. To me, it somehow captures the magical moment when a woman, running late for a show, drops her handbag on the steps outside of the opera house. Her makeup and perfume go flying in a powdery explosion and blanket the civil vespers in majestic distress. A moment in time.

Bought The Afternoon of a Faun on your recommendation and love it. I'm always taken to a damp, mossy forest when I wear it and can actually taste the moss (no, I'm not spraying it on my face). Not only does it engage my sense of taste, I always imagine small birds and butterflies when I wear it. Wonderful scent and wonderful you for introducing me to it. Thank you.

Really interesting that you mentioned Mitsouko, because Mitsouko is the only perfume that makes me think of the end of time. Complete Zen, like a Shinto shrine. If there's certain melancholy about L'Heure Bleue, Mitsouko just says "nothing matters anymore".

Beautiful list. Rauque is the only one I haven’t smelled - obvious reason. Sooo tempting to hunt for a bottle now. Sounds exceptional. Although, I should hunt for a sample first. Leather doesn’t always agree with my skin’s ph level.
I love your list. L'Heure Bleue was my second perfume, bought in 30ml extrait by my then boyfriend so it is special in many ways. The SA at Guerlain insisted I should get Chant d'Arômes but finally agreed l'HB suited my skin. I have it in all vintage concentrations, and Wear often the Parfum de toilette because its sillage is particularly memorizing.
