I was 9 back then, and loved them as well; actually still do to this day. I always wondered why they suddenly went off the grid after that album made such a splash, and I never heard anything more about them again.

Didn't they though? I can't stand most of today's music anymore, no real creativity left, and to me, everybody pretty much sounds the same to me, with all the effects used to disguise everybody's voices, which you rarely, if ever, heard back then.

"Boys II Men, ABC, BBD. The East Coast Family." They used to light up our local radio station. December 17, 1991. A day before I turned thirteen. Time has really flown.

likewise: I was 8, about to turn 9, and really grew to love them when a friend of mine bought me a copy of their album on tape for my birthday when she bought herself one as well, and we both played them to death, and I still love them to this day.

I really hated that their career was short-lived. I feel this was due to the lack of success of their 2nd album. Even though they had gotten older, they still should have stuck with the same new jack swing/hip-hop sound because they were still young, just maybe two years older. Fans just couldn't connect with the new motown vibe on their 2nd album as they switched over too fast. Same thing happened with Kris Kross...the "raw r-rated" lyrics just came too fast and they got away from the "formula" that worked for them on their first two albums. But ABC definitely could have had a longer career had their team not switched up their sound and image.

Yeah their 2nd album was not good. Everyone was hoping they would have that “New Edition” success but they didn’t.

Kris’s Kris’s “Jump” was a diss song that killed their momentum. Kris’s Kross and TLC dropped and ABC toook the backseat.

These lil dudes was a big part of my childhood even tho they didn’t last long(once they got older the kiddie look was over) but them along with Immature and Kriss Kross was what most kids our age wanted to be in the 90s

  • @LilAlpo1

The very 1st line of Kris Kross' "Jump" song was an ABC diss, and I didn't find that out 'til I was old Lol.
