These consulting firms need to be held more accountable. They sit there telling other businesses how to run their organisations yet theirs cultures are flat, expectations of workers to work ridiculous hours up until the late hours of morning.
Completely agree. There is literal no segregation of social-work life but its still challenging and a good option to take up to exceed in the Accounting and Finance world.
Totally agree, but only to a certain extent can it be fun! Alot of my friends who worked in audit, said it was fun too but only for a certain time. They were having to work long hours everyday and they quickly burnt out.
As the 3 of you professionals are in agreement on this topic, I have a question as a first year Accounting and Finance student in college. Is there a certain point you get past in the Big 4 where a work-life balance is attainable ? For example you take up a position that has a certain level of seniority where you can pick and choose your own hours ? Also, how high does the salary really go in the Big 4 ? Do you guys really work under partners who are earning 6 and even 7 figures ? Thanks so much guys, hope yous can inform me !
@@adamclarke2304 I am not 100% familiar with the salary estimates, it is something which you can see on various websites as they provide a realistic average. However, for the balance between work and life at higher positions, from my own experience of seeing Directors, Managers in the top 10 firm I work, the answer is no. They are also working after office hours even on Saturdays and till 12 am in busy season. So as Sanjana said, it is fun only to an extend where you are experiencing a rush of realistic audit work rest it is very tiring.
Being in the Big 4 working as IT Consultant I have never ever traveled. Thanks to Microsoft Teams & Zoom. I think travel is only for management consultant not for IT until and unless something is broken down badly.
My friend who work in one of big 4 company works in a room without windows most of his time as that's how much he works and I thought it's only in Poland but wow! It's everywhere 😳😳
Tbf I am in Amazon going to a big 4 soon watching this is very similar to Amazon we've had our culture from military background and the reality is it's long hours but it is fun!
Yeah agree, this is purely my experience and I know some people don't have negative experiences which is amazing! I hope no one has to go through anything like this.
Are you able to do a video on how you got your banking job so quickly? What recruitment agency? Did you write to them or did they write to you? How did you build that connection etc.
Hey I love your videos so much! Your defiantly an inspiration:) I’d like to join the graduate scheme maybe in consulting or Human Resources. I’m just wondering what your job entails like what is your day to day responsibilities:)
Thanks Jessica! I have actually done a video on this explaining what risk consultants do - you can check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/7LGi0oktz3g/v-deo.html
Not necessarily, I had a single Commerce degree and no I was not ridiculously bright. They are actually so open to people who are from different walks of life. Have you tried applying?
@@successbysanjna Yeah, currently in application process for a lot. Have been rejected by KPMG at video assessment stage, but I know they actually mark the video answers using AI... why would I want to work for a company like that? I guess I’m just bitter😅
It is essentially the same based off my experience of working at the Big 4, but I know some places might have this split up - just make sure you do your research :)
That's awesome to think like that at such a young age! I would suggest getting into the finance line of study and work to ensure you get there. There isn't certain things to study but I would recommend searching some CFO's on LinkedIn at big organisations and see what they studied and their work experience :) Hope that helps!
Study Bcom (finance) or Bachelor of business science in finance. This is wat we have in our university Universities have different names for degrees sometimes but say you want to major in FINANCE when you research or ask people. But I also think an accounting degree can get you there.

Hi,
They basically treat you like a college student. You have assignment everyday and you have exam day to finish the work.
Pretty much! haha
Its actually true that there is no work life balance in the audit but its actually fun at the same time because I am learning. :)

Big 4 grad schemes now are just impossible. You pretty much either need a relevant degree or be ridiculously bright. Anyone else, no chance.
