    You know, You're the reason I started Leather work, I use Horween Dublin, I tried others, just nothing that I liked, maybe because I like your work, who knows. But I've learned everything I know from how you do your work. I Sell items, from time to time, If someone wants a wallet, I have some different models, and they pay me a few hundred bucks depending on what it is. Handmade, Handstitched, Quality Leather. I've made a few purses, None sold, I've only made them as gifts for the girls in my life, but they turn out great.

    Read it. Cracking video as always. You're all so spoilt for choice with supplies and tools there. Virtually nothing on the list is available for shipping to the UK and there's not a huge amount of stores here. The last few bits I bought, I had to get shipped from Tandy in Spain! Can't even get Barge so I need to find an alternative.

    • @MasconLeather
      @MasconLeather  2 роки тому +1

      Our “mascon & ZeeBee” tools will ship to the uk. An alternative for barge in a pinch is weldwood cement. Wood glue at lowes? Home Depot? Hardware store? It’ll work.

    Great tips about just measuring the patterns once and then using the bump jig to square the material up. I think squaring up is what gets a lot of novice creators. I still like to skive everything by hand and I've gotten pretty fast at it.

    I've been checking your channel for the past 3 months... everyday ( even tho I have the alerts on lol ) hoping the next video was gonna be on what you use ( not pankcake batter, stay tuned lol ) to slick the back of your leather, you always get it perfect. I have absolutely no problems with my edges... I can make my edges look like they are literally coated in glass, but I can't ever get the back of the leather to slick correctly with Tokonole, gum trag or bees wax like everyone "suggests". It also ends up coming unfinished as I work on the project ( and I don't use cheap leathers either). I make my own burnishing cream for my edges... my own cocktail of stuff, but it's not very good for slicking the backs since I sand my edge work with sandpaper ( grits 600 to 3000 ). Anyways, great wallet as always and I'll still be checking everyday for that " not pancake batter video " ... because iam that frustrated with finishing the backs! Thank so much and have a great one

    Try oiling that leather before using it in the skiver to avoid those mark, you don't have to use actual oil because they sometimes leave marks on the leather ( depends on the leather) to avoid that I usually rub my fingers around my nose and then scrub it where i want to skive and usually it works.. your skin produces enough oil for the purpose !

    Good evening, I admire your works, which are kind of simple, but so brutal.I would like to ask you a couple of tips if you allow. What kind of marker do you paint over the cut (I tried it with a construction, oil kind of wrong.)What do you apply to polish the fringe and how much more should the detail of the patch pocket on the wallet be relative to the wallet itself. I am grateful to you in advance. Sincerely Alexey

    Great as always Artie, beautiful works of art.
    What type of Knipex cutting tool do you recommend to remove rivets, snaps, snap buttons from leather that have already been installed and need to be removed?
    This same tool with which you remove the burrs from the copper rivets is very powerful but perhaps to remove rivets it is less precise.
    Which one would you recommend?.
    Thank you very much for your help, I appreciate it very much Artire.

    Great work. Awesome camera shots. Towards the end, why did you die the edge, then sand, then re-die the edge?? Is she still on break?

    • @MasconLeather
      @MasconLeather  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks!!!! I was wondering who’d notice that. You’re the first to mention it!!! Occasionally, when dealing with that many layers, as perfect as it looks when first sanding, you see every tiny imperfection after dye. So the first dye shows every tiny flaw. And where it needs more attention. Good eye!!! (Olivia is now on vacation)

    Asking for a friend, Say some dummy (new to leather work) forgot to stamp their stamp they had (and really liked a lot) on his OR HER leather project before they put it all together and gluing , & sewed the 3 piece of leather together. Would they be able to stamp it afterwards? Maybe if they put a piece of metal into the pocket behind the piece they wanted to stamp. Or would they end up messing all their hard work up? Once again asking for a very close friend ☺️ ps read it.

    • @MasconLeather
      @MasconLeather  2 роки тому +1

      Tell your “very close” friend - yes. I’ve done it a lot. But !!!!!! This is Dublin and chromexcel. NOT raw veg. Raw veg has to be cased first.
      Dublin and chromexcel take stamps with just pressure.
      I actually made a small metal plate. That’s just the size to fit into any pocket, but large enough to catch stamps. Maybe 2” x 3”. Just shy of 1/8” thick
      Slip under and let her rip. And tell your friend about all the anxiety they’re going to deal with at the thought of ruining 6 hours work with the stamp being wrong, upside down, etc.
      Fun times !!! But doable.
      😉
