Just being out in nature, away from all the buildings and roads, is very important. There's an energy that's unique and combined with exercise is a very helpful thing for our body, mind, and soul.

Mountain biking on trails is my thing. Being above the clouds is epic in the Andes , but sometimes just riding around the neighborhood and seeing people and things you would never see or hear in a car.

Keep it up. When you're older you'll be glad you did. The body needs to move. I'm 63 years old and I hike several times a week. There's nothing like a good walk in the woods. We're lucky here in Pennsylvania. We have so many great hiking locations. I hike the AT quite often. I was just at the Pulpit Rock/Pinnacle in Hamburg on Thursday. If you haven't yet, check out Bear Creek Preserve and Natural Lands. Really beautiful! One thing I should get is an InReach like you're wearing. Too many places don't get a cell signal. It's especially useful when hiking alone like I do quite often. You do know that a 40 to 50 lb pack is a bit much?! LOL! My pack is usually full of camera gear and the extra clothing, snacks and water I need. I haven't gotten to Duncannon yet, but definitely want to do the AT out there. Take care, have a great weekend!

This is why I got a dog about 12 years ago. I was either sitting in the car, behind a desk or on the couch. So I went and got a dog, a Bully mix, Amstaff-Pitbull. They need a lot of movement so I have to go out and move too.
4 years ago I stepped up and got me an ABDA Pitbull Terrier. Now he really wants to move, so we go out a lot. I too have a job where I can schedule my own time, although I do that not nearly enough, but it works because I have to make it work.
We don’t have any mountains in the Netherlands, but still some nature and a lot of place to ride a bicycle. So I hike and ride with my dog, my buddy, a lot. He never says no and is always in the mood. It keeps you sane and makes you appreciate life and nature!
Oh and I even added some, because on Saturdays we practice dog sports almost every weekend. And do hunting events too. ❤

I’ve been down a lot this winter. No specific reasons but winter time and just going through the motions takes it out of you. Exercise,a good diet, and pray always seem to help me out.

My life sucked less when I lived in NC. I had trails and mountains. Hanging rock was my favorite. 2200 feet. Then the 3 mile walk to cooks wall at 2400 feet. Then 1.5 hour drive to pilot mountain. I like a dumbass hiked from the parking lot. Didn't know i could drive near the peak. But from each you could see the other. It was amazing. Don't have that now. Back to drinking. Its just life.

This is one of your best uploads. Just an idea... Perhaps host or organize a monthly Mental Health well being hike up the mountain. Get 30-40 people going and use this platform as a means to encourage people to seek help if they need it and there are folks that can and will literally get them feeling a little better every day by getting people who are struggling, to open up and just talk. The ability to find comradery with others who may be struggling with something similar goes a long way. I play hockey with a group of veterans and it has literally saved lives. We've given them an opportunity to find a new mission. We recruit as many people as we can and talk about it often. Keep up the great work!

I stopped watching at 1:22 as soon as you said mental health. Mike as you know that is the one thing people honestly take for granted is their mental health! Case in point, I haven't spoken about this to anyone outside my safety zone. But I am a manic depressive with suicidal tendencies. Its nothing to joke about, people say that you have to be on medication to combat this disease but im here to say no you don't! I'm not on any medications for my mental health! I battle that on my own with my wife right by my side. Grant it some days are hard! I've been battling this all my life and I have not let it win! Theres many triggers that keep me down but i still keep moving forward! I'm struggling so hard financially right now since my rollover accident, it left me 100% disabled and unable to work and im living on disability and I have to make 1,100. Last through the month. Its just about impossible. I want to work but can't and its a hard kick in the gut for me because I worked my ass off all my life just to have this happen! It makes me feel like a nobody!!! I've been homeless and without a vehicle but have never given up. My pops has Alzheimer's and Dementia and he lives in South Dakota and I live 950 miles away down here in Southwestern Tennessee and I can't afford to go see him. That is why I tried to win that BADASS POWERWAGON with the camper, I could of used that to go see him and I wouldn't have to worry about a hotel because of the camper. But who was I kidding I've entered countless amout of times but never win. Thank you for your time. God Bless you and stay safe and keep those awesome videos coming!

Mike it’s dope you’re gettin out there more. It’s good to be balanced when you can. For those who do workout or want to start. Hell even those experienced or just starting early stages, I implore you to swap out distance running for cycling, either stationary or regular bike. It’s far less traumatic on the body vs running. If you do run, run at a moderate pace (if you can talk then that’s great) to avoid being of breath, for your oxygen levels don’t deplete. If you do this you won’t burn sugar, instead you’ll burn fat as fuel, since you haven’t depleted your oxygen level. You’ll be able to burn fat, and keep the sugar as fuel for for brain, which derives roughly 99% of it’s fuel sources from within the body. You’ll feel better and you’ll be able to workout longer. As an alternative swimming is just as beneficial, if not more beneficial purely for recovery of the body. It’s great resistance training and due to the water weight you’ll burn a lot more calories, as well the added benefit of getting stronger physically while improve your anaerobic performance. Hope some of this helps. Mike Mentzer, I take this bit of knowledge, paraphrasing and condensed, not word for word, from his seminars from Heavy Duty College.

For those who feeling overwhelmed with worries and stress, I suggest seeking the Lord and give your worries to him. Philippians 4:19 (ESV) - And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Some of our worries is about our every day needs and with faith in Jesus those things will we be supply. I know given your burdens to Jesus is easier said than done, but the more grow your faith in the lord the easier it will get.

Getting a lot of sunlight and eating healthy. I’m a new man. Men strive in physical environments. We need challenges to feel accomplishment and that raise our mood. Glad you’re taking the steps man.

We as man don't want to talk about our mental health and it is the most important thing we have. With out good mental health we have nothing. Agreed 100% but there are different levels of mental health as well. I have been active and exercise 6 days a week for the past 15 years. I received an anxiety diagnosis while I was lifting weights. I thought I was having a heart attack. It was a light switch in my life. If I don't take medication for it, it will consume my life, it's horrible. I still continue to lift and exercise daily though, and I know that helps.

Couldn’t agree more, exercise plays such a big part in my life now that I’m almost 30. I use to not care about physical activity at all outside of work. I started a new job two and a half years ago and made some great friends who share a lot of the same interests. We ride mountain bikes here in central Florida a lot at Alafia and Carter Rd, and we’ve all bought bmx bikes to hit the skateparks with when we’re feeling a change of pace/scenery. I’ve dropped 20+ lbs in the past few months just from biking and getting after it. I could barely make it halfway through a trail before needing a break. Now we can get a few miles in and I’m able to keep pushing through most of it until someone else decides to rest for a few.
