Mechanical harvesting of spinach is extremely beneficial these days since apparently in some areas there are labor shortages due to the virus pandemic. I"m happy to know that since I eat large amounts of spinach on a regular basis.
AH Lowe and Son was a spinach farm in NJ that had their last crop this spring. There's a video of their harvest on UA-cam, look it up it's cool. The owners retired and I was essentially the last farm hand they ever had. Those black crates are part of the reason they retired, they had to use vacuum cooling and it greatly diminished productivity
its a thankless job being a farmer .. but its satisfying .. even those white collars and suits who look down upon us as "just a farmer" have to eat our veggies and poultry/meat :)

Since Im the only one who is watched this is it just me who thinks its crazy that Texas is ranked #1 in spinach production with only 14 growers? Time for more kids to get into a farming career path I say and have more programs were the older farmers can pass on there knowledge to younger unexperienced growers.
