I loved the hug at the end of his roast. Entertainers back then had heart, compassion, morals, ethics, and...get ready for this one... they loved being Americans. Yes, Republicans and Democrats both had a common bond..loving America. ❤️🇺🇸

@@nickydepaolaentertainment33 Ah, the 80s... when social media was friends and family gathering around the TV for their favorite show. I can still remember my grandfather and uncle (both gone) catching some football games on the couch before Thanksgiving dinner at my grandparents house in Cinnaminson, NJ.
The first time I saw this, when Mr Brooks took that fall, I laughed so hard I pulled a muscle somewhere around my mid-section. Seriously, I was in a bit of pain for a couple of days. This is classic Hollywood talent all in one place, and we will never see something like this again. I don't think I've ever laughed so hare before. Classic!
I always look at Dean Martin, in these videos, and think, how happy he looks, I imagine these roasts with foster brooks where some of he's favourite times.
I freaking LOVE Dean's reactions & how he is always ALWAYS laughing uncontrollably at Brooks when he goes into his drunken stooper comedy routine. Nobody could get a crowd laughing like Brooks could. Like in this skit .. the first few seconds had me in stitches when he falls to the floor after letting his crutches go... simply amazing 👏🏽 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Foster Brooks is a legend 🙌🏽 ❤️ 👏🏽
I loved his comedy. One of my favorite was the roast of Don Rickles (where Foster Brooks is having an affair with Rickles wife). That was hilarious. Of course, all of the scenes with Foster Brooks was so funny. Most of today's so-called comedians are ridiculously un-funny, no talent, trashy wannabes. The old Roasts were the best comedians. Also, the roast of Frank Sinatra, (Peter Faulk)-Columbo, stayed in his character, bringing some food his wife cooked for Frank. That was hilarious.
FOSTER BROOKS is the only comedian who makes me laugh so hard that my eyes water every single segment. GREAT TALENT made to look so easy and off the shoulder.
@@nickydepaolaentertainment33 His role on Mary Tyler Moore is one of the most vain, over the top egotistical, often out of touch with reality, characters, and at the same time most likable characters, in TV sitcom history. Even though he had blatantly obvious and rather offensive flaws, the way he was, the man he revealed as Ted Baxter, you couldn't help but like him. Ted Knight pulled that role off and played it brilliantly as an actor
Some of the funniest bits EVER... took place during a Dean Martin Roast!!! And Foster Brooks NEVER failed to be HYSTERICAL!!! LOVED TED KNIGHT!💕 LOVED FOSTER BROOKS!!💕 LOVED THE DEAN MARTIN ROASTS!!! Every last one of them!!! Thx for the laughter... ALL OF YOU!!! 😜💕😊💕😘
Dean Martin celebrity roasts were the best. A lot of Hollywood royalty at the time was there each and every week. Nothing but good clean fun and humor. I really miss those days. Foster Brooks is a true legend.
Imagine being put in the birth column and given a fresh start! Foster's hilarious! Seriously wish we could give him that honour. We'd love to have him back!
Foster brooks Red Foxx are my two favorites the drunk and the clown I love them both dearly I can't stop laughing to put a smile on my face when I feel down
I have been looking for this exact Foster Brooks entrance for years but could never find it. I remember watching it as a kid and it always stuck with me but I could never remember which time it was. So thank you for posting this.
I loved watching Dean Martin's roasts with Brooks back in the day. When I saw his entrance here and the collapse, I haven't laughed so hard in a long, long time.
*The Lovable Lush! He was a local radio Deejay and didn't get into standup comedy until his 50s. His roast of Don Rickles was the best with Don laughing uncontrollably!*
If you get a chance to see, "it's a mad mad mad world". Some of the best comedy and actors. It's on U-tube now. I never get tired of watching it. That movie was made in 1963.
Rogier Kemme - Agreed. i watched that part at least 10 times and its still funny. i dont know how he went straight down like that. its like somebody opened a trap door..
That IS hilarious!! But I'd like to go back to about 1972, before America was all about P.C. and people could both tell and take a joke without suing someone or starting a riot.....
How I long for those young boy days! The legends gathered around the dais are incredible!! The sad thing is so many of them are gone. How bout a Fresca! Huh, huh, how bout a Fresca!!
Funny, I happened to notice Ed Asner getting Ted's attention and whispering what appears to be something silly into his ear right at the 0:56 mark as well. :)
Damn him when he fell rum and came out my nose. Man that burned. Nobody makes you laugh like that anymore. What a shame. We all have to be politcally correct walk around like zombies and hug illegal aliens. What the hell happened to us?
By the way, that's not a picture of John Wesley Hardin, that's a picture of John "Doc" Holliday. Thank you John Hardin(?) for putting these/this video up, I love Foster Brooks, one of the funniest men to ever draw a breath. He does not need to stoop to using curse words, or any other cheap or off-colored jokes to get laughs, he's genuinely super funny without it. The man is so good at this character drunkenness, it's hard to believe he doesn't drink alcohol. Very possibly the funniest comedian I've ever heard/seen.
Hey John..thank you for these Foster Brooks videos...he was BRILLIANT...On his roast of Hubert Humphrey everyone burst into laughter at the end but it appears part was cut out..do you know what happened?
When you take a look a this fall, it must have taken a lot of practice, and it was a stroke of comedic genius. The fall had to be timed perfectly with the dropping of the crutches. After he dropped them, he looked at the audience for a minute as if to say 'that was really dumb' and then fell straight down behind the podium. The speed of the fall had to be right also. His whole body had to drop at the same speed. A lot more than meets the eye went into successfully pulling this off.
Just discovered Mr. Brooks. Now binge watching all his roasts. So hilarious.
Legends galore. I miss the old days. The days of real talent.

Look up some of the sketch comedy, Dean and Foster did together, if you haven't seen them!
I know I have many hours of Dean to watch, but I don't think I've seen Dean laugh as hard as the time Foster roasted Hubert Humphrey.
@@Jerusalem_777 I kept waiting for Humpy Hoovart but even then he didn't say something risque.

He looks happy due to being an alcoholic and continually half-cut
He drops the crutches, falls on the floor and has everyone in stitches. I know they are almost all buzzed, but this guy was just hilarious.
That was a accidental fall.
It looked like a trap door just opened under his feet.
That was the greatest lol 😂

Foster Brooks is consistently funny.

Ted Night often played a buffoon type of character on TV and film, but he was actually an intelligent fellow and a decorated soldier, a war hero.
nycinstyle don’t forget that Jimmy Stewart was a so on the stage. Two great American heroes.

Modern comedy central roasts are really mean spirited & hard to watch. These are definitely funnier
Well, this also aired on NBC primetime in the 70s, so they *couldn’t* be dirty or foul-mouthed even if they wanted to.
This is my favorite Foster Brooks roast
