    True story: When I go to car shows, if your car is there, and you have crusty, dull milky looking headlight lenses, I'm likely to polish only one of them to make your car look like it's been wrecked. I'm mean. I do it to force you to have to polish the other one. I've done it at DSMCA Get Togethers, Dyno Days, and if I hadn't dropped my last bottle of metal polish and broken it open right before the trip... I would have done it for sure at the shootout. It's premeditated. I've been doing it to people for a decade. Don't be a victim of oxidized headlights. Use tape on the body around the lens if they're on the car so you don't have to be so careful about your paint.

      That's why I like the glass headlights on my cabby, to keep strangers from polishing them. :)

      See I just leave the headlights in my car and use 80 grit. Lol nah I detail at work and buffed my headlights to a new life. Love the glass lenses on my corrado.

      Jafromobile glass headlights FTW 😉😁 cool trick though. Couldn't help but Wonder, you think White Diamond metal polish would be gentle enough, yet adequate on my tail lights? 🙄

    I went and bought some Holden Commodore V8 wagon ultra low rear springs for my BMW E36, they fit the same, but were way thicker and stiffer! and the car sits at a regular height, with less rear squat and transfers the body roll to the front, which is handled by a thicker front sway bar, im a firm believer of using what fits, my cars are all made from random parts, if you have a good grasp of engineering and physics, and can apply it to your part choices, then go for it, heck thats how most prototype cars are made.
    cheers for being suck a great bloke Jafro! i realy enjoy your informative content! keep up the good work.

    I really enjoy watching these videos. Also like the no nonsense honesty too with your R&D as well.
    A previous Elantra videos of yours massively helped me to do a gearbox swap in a similar Mitsubishi platform based car. A Proton Satria GTI.
    Had a thought, sometimes a cheaper tyre is not always a bad thing. As they'll break traction, before something more important breaks.
    Fair enough at the strip switch out to a much better and grippier tyre.
    Sucks when stuff goes bang when you're just trying to drive the car and not even leaning on it.

    I had to show my father this video just for the fact of the rear springs. We have a 2001 Chevy van with 280000 miles and he thinks the front suspension doesn't need to be changed. After showing him this video and how collapse those springs were, he ordered new springs for it and can't wait to see his reaction when installed. We experience bump steer like crazy with every little pot hole it send the steering wheel to the left immediately after a hit

    I found your channel only a few days ago and man I wish i've found it earlier.. • @Jafromobile
      @Jafromobile  6 років тому +1

      I would too! Except that I couldn't turn if I did. :( It's not just the spring diameter causing this. The drag slicks that I have rub the inner fender and frame (prior to the front end fix I performed in the previous video), so I'd have to cut away the frame and replace it to pull it off safely. On this car if I want to go wider, I have to go outward or else re-engineer the unibody front end.

      If you really want to keep your mods cheap, then try a fender roller. Check out how much this guy flared out his fender with a roller:
      ua-cam.com/video/dF5uA1u7Mts/v-deo.html
      If you aren't attached to that little flat lip around your fender, you could contour that sucker with the surrounding body panel and add between 0.25"-0.5".

    literally got giddy overseeing a new Jafro vid :)
    Got ya going in my garage right now as I sort the headlight issue in my mustang. She likes to burn out the switches and my stereo dims them big time; some relays and more direct power is going to do the job nicely.

    • @Jafromobile
      @Jafromobile  6 років тому

      Sounds like you might have a ground problem in there somewhere, too...

    • @firestartercanti6636
      @firestartercanti6636 6 років тому

      Grounds were fine, but for my winter project on this car I've been doing a wire tuck on it because the wiring on the Fox body mustangs is hideous. Charging harness did end up having alot of green death on it, so im replacing the lethargic 90 amp alternator with a newer gen 130 amp alt and all new wiring for it. New alternator and wiring mod should stop the headlights from dimming and the car nearly stalling under heavy bass (loud exhaust + no sound dampening= sub woofer.....apperently, got the car this way).
      She's an on going project to take someones beat up track pig back to a more drive-able state while not losing any of the performance.

    I love that you're still soldiering on with this tired old and now obscure chassis. It would so easy to swap it out for something more popular and newer but half the appeal of your videos is the schadenfreud that comes with you suffering the obscurity of bespoke performance parts. Would that make it a
    "triumph in the face of obscurity"?
    Ok ok i know, im done. 😋

    I wanted to stiffen up and lower the front suspension of the my ford courier. My initial theory was to cut mustang II springs. Thinking that by cutting the springs that it would raise the spring rate yet lower the the truck. It should have (in my mind) raised back up to factory Courier spring rate since they were a softer spring). Well it lowered the truck alright but the ride was way too soft. It would bottom out terribly. I calculated spring rate incorrectly. Anyway, I ended up going with 81 mustang springs and cutting a few coils. It worked perfectly. The ride is great and it handles so much better. Next is a larger sway bar in the front and adding one in the rear as well has a panhard bar. Love your videos and how you use parts from different vehicles for you builds.

    Hi jafro, about your car pulling to the right, you should adjust your front right chamber to be more negative. Let say your left side chamber is at - 0° 28'', your right side would be about - 0° 33''. Because our road isnt flat. In your case is left hand drive vehicle. In my country is right handed vehicle. So i done it opposite way.

    • @WilliamDye-willdye
      @WilliamDye-willdye 6 років тому

      Talk to some folks on DSM web sites such as dsmtuners before you send it to a junkyard. Not all the parts in a '90 Mirage are of interest to them, but for any of the parts that do fit, you're much more likely to get a better price than the pittance you'll get from a salvage buyer. Or just watch videos from Jafro and Velocity Labs and Project Binky and friends until you have an unstoppable itch to fix it up yourself. :-)

    Hi Jafro, I really enjoy watching your videos and I have been checking in over the course of 4 years. I had a couple of questions maybe you could answer for me. I have a 1998 eagle talon tsi with 178k and it blows blue smoke at idle. The car is totally stock and I can't figure out why it does this. The second question is for a 97 tsi 1G built motor 18k, 80K original miles on the body of the car. Currently there is a leak coming from the water pump. I think this may have happened either because I put on a stock radiator cap on an aluminum radiator or it was because the car was just running with water for about a month after it was swapped to an aluminum radiator, not done by me. Anyway, I'm lost as what to do and hopefully maybe you have some advice on how to proceed? I appreciate your time and help in the matter. Thank you kindly

    It's a shame those cars are disappearing so fast. Not that they were all that good to begin with, but they make a great sleeper with the right mods - as you know. Unfortunately, people in the US don't generally go in for the sleeper style - in-your-face style (aka R.I.C.E.) seems much more popular currently.

    Can you use any parts from a 94 Elantra 4g car? My local yard has had one for years. Untouched clean interior.

    Hi Jafro. Is there any way I can listen to Rojo del Chocolate's music? I have searched at Deezer and also in YT but no luck. Thanks for sharing all your great work!

      This is complicated. I've suggested he produce an album, and his reply was... "No, because then UA-cam will suck you up in a copyright filter and demonetize all your videos." While money can't buy friends like that, I believe he deserves money for what he's done for me, and should do it. I really do get this question a lot. People love him or they hate him, but 95% of the comments and questions are clearly from fans, and prove he's an enormous underground success.

    hi sir,need your help about outboard motor。i buy a used 2002 suzuki df115 four stroke EFI,four cylinder 16valve fuel inject engine just like a car engine,15 years ago,some strange noise from inside when the motor running in idle speed but disappear in 1000+ rpm and over,it sound like a diesel engine (da da da da da)what do you think of this sound come from?may be crankshaft bearing?
    if i rebuild this motor and replace all the parts which is out of service limit(all new parts was oem parts),and do this following the Suzuki service manual step by step,pay attention with the clearance、journal and torque 。when the job done,the motor can be running as 80% quality as a brand new one?what about the durability and stability after rebuild?

    Your a smart guy but I have a kind of opposite problem of what you have and why its a problem. I have a great looking car. Lotus Esprit SE. But the power is just not there. Sure itll toast a subaru but I bet your elantra would smoke me. I have an old journal bearing turbo a cast manifold. Gm batch fire injection and an intake plenum that is 2,000cc too small. I started making a new plenum but what should I do next? Exhaust turbo or fueling? I was thinking about a chinese GTX3076R ball bearing with a billet wheel. 500$ or a haltech elite 750 for 1000$
