I have a small emergency solar radio also batteries for my regular radio would like to get a better emergency radio though
Please make a map video. People need to understand the importance of having a physical (NON-DIGITAL) map. Thanks for all that you do. We're subscribers and really enjoy your content.
Do a map vid
PLEASE DO a video on maps + use of a compass and How to use it, this is in my opinion one of the #1 skill almost completely lacking in preppers
Thank you for the tips.
Stay vigilant.

Why does the same government that accuses us preppers as being hoarders, then in the next breath also tell us that we all need to prep?
That’s a good point
They consider it hoarding when you go looong term an run the stores I remember during to cough cough they made a statement. 😂
Our now administration?? Is N.F.G.!!
Because they know what can happen with Russia
There not the brightest folks.
Flashlight

Pet supplies

Thank u
Don't forget water and food
Thanks mate 😁
Batteries, I keep our crank radio and some new batteries and several small flashlights in a bag ready to go.Go on Google and look at your surroundings, where will you go on foot for shelter. Meds, we keep all of our critical meds in containers and mark the lid so you can find it easily in low light.Candy, hard candy will help keep your mouth moist when you are low on water. A child with a piece of candy in there mouth will be more content.Something small for your child to hold on to like a toy car or a small stuffed animal, they can also lay their head on it when they are tired.
Pet supplies? Eat the pets that serve no purpose, dogs can find their own food!
Yes, a video on maps or where we could specifically print out dependable maps, etc. I think especially the younger Google generation could use a lesson on how to read a map properly for sure!
Noted! Thank you
I remember having standardized tests in school testing knowledge of how to read maps. That was half a century ago.
I have been wanting to learn to read a topographical map with a compass and teach my kids too!
@@RiversideHomesteadLife Noted is fine. The more you know of FEMA, your being noted will turn to rejection of that agency. I posted a video to your channel in my comment. This is no time to placate that organization.
You can get free state maps by requesting tourism information from your state's tourism board. They send it in the packet (or request it from any/all states).
There is a difference between hoarding and prepping. Hoarding =5 years worth of toilet paper. Prepping= emergency lights, food and water .
Not just one can opener but at least two.
Better to be safe then sorry
Don't buy the cheapest piece of crap one either. Get one that won't break on the first use.
Dollar tree I bought 10 and a great one from Kroger that’s tough.
1 is none, 2 is 1 😁
P38 on the tags chain
Table spoon of olive oil helps stop hunger pain when water fasting .
Here's a tip...."Don't listen to FEMA"
Many say that
Everyone should know how to use a compass and map, my experience, when hunting, we always had a Metsker map of the county we were hunting in, it’s very detailed really handy to have. Maybe when you do the map video you could help show people how to use a compass also. Thank you for your helpful videos and no bs
Noted! Thank you
There is no place in the lower 48 that anyone needs a compass.
@@woodspirit98 Incorrect.
Yes!! Please explain how to use a compass in a way my kids can understand.
@@woodspirit98 hi, sorry to inform you but not everyone is born with or even educated with the sence of direction. I had a friend who is grown, with grown children, and now grown grandchildren who CANNOT even drive to go to the store more than a couple miles from her house without getting lost (thank creator for cell phones). But, I don't think a map would have helped her unless she did learn to use a compass.
go to the local truck stop, pick up a rand mc nally "motor carrier " road atlas. the good ones have the pages plastic coated (truckers spill coffee) to keep pages from getting stained. It will show you all major and secondary roads in the US and parts of Canada. If you wait till the new year, sometimes you can find last years edition at a reduced price. They are about 40 bucks new and Ive found last years edition for 20 less. Oh get a good compass. GPS may not work.
if anyone noticed, We used to be able to buy on a disk, mapping software. no internet needed. now we cant . They shut off your your stuff you will be blind . dependent on internet to get you around. It aint by accident . Fuck Me if Im wrong , but I would say they are trying to make us totally dependent
I had to double check that my husband hadn't written that! He just retired after 35 years driving the big trucks. Woe to the person that touches his book!
We also keep a state atlas for our state and a few around us. They show great local detail in case you need to travel by back roads, gravel, or trails
That sounds like a great idea however, I have no clue where truckstop is so how would one know are you talking about like a gas station?
Number 6 is rubbish. Get a lantern and some lamp oil for prolonged light in the dark so you dont waste the battery power.
Surprisingly a covid 19 snake bite wasn't part of the FEMA survival guide.
Maybe it's a Covid-19 honey badger? They were mass producing coffins for a reason.

Just kidding. I think.
You must have read the same "snake venom" stories I have? YIKES, is all I can say! 😮

Yah cause we soooooo believe and trust in governmentally run FEMA - Such great help to the people of Katrina and Ohio and Maui.
You definitely could have done a better job.

Always with me 6.5" Channel Locks, whistle, shemagh, a friend gave me a P38 almost 40 years ago, all are with me every where I go. Reading material... A Bible and S.A.S. manual. HAPPY EASTER! God Bless and stay safe.
Nice!
I loved my p38 can opener. Kept it on my key ring. Wore it out. Last time I went to the army surplus ;. The dude there didn't even know what a p 38 was. Dang I'm going to go to one on a smaller town. Maybe then they might have some left.
I've already worn out about twenty p-38 s. Now I can't find them at the army surplus anymore.
Glad that you mentioned a shemagh, a very unappreciated piece of survival kit.
Great video once again, yes I would like video on Maps, topographical especially in your area not your area but our area, very important to know elevation water etc., also P 38 and P 51 can openers, very small to carry instead of large can openers, also the use of compass instead of GPS in case satellites are down which could happen, thank you again brother much appreciated, Prep on !
Appreciate it! Thank you, noted!
We are Saved by Grace Through FAITH NOT WORKS. Salvation is a free gift from GOD given to those all who will believe LORD JESUS CHRIST DIED AS A SALVATION LAMB for our sins by the BLOOD OF LORD JESUS CHRIST HIS BLOOD CLEANSES Our SINS !!!=+++
God gave us brains to use!
Thanks for keeping it short and on point
Yes a video on maps. Plus how to use a compass. Please remind people to keep extra medications for the whole family. Especially prescription medications. Thank you for making the videos.
Yes, please make a video about the various maps that preppers may need👍
Yes to map video
I just finished topping up on preps before the snowmaggedon...it's all melting now...the entire 13 inches of snow could raise the two river levels to high risk of flooding...I have an inflatable canoe and everything ready...except for a radio...yep thank you again for the information...gonna track down a radio!!!
Way to be prepped!
Yes, a tutorial on types of maps, how to read them along with using a compass to help navigate with a map would be a really good video series. Going from the basics of reading roadside maps, topographical maps and then the use of a compass and how to tie it into map reading/use would be eggcallent!!!!
I agree. Something we can all have our kids watch. Sometimes they listen better to a video then someone telling them there in person. 🤷🏼♀️ Ppl learn differently. It would be a good video tho, a lost skill I call it.
i got it all ! but how did i forget to stock pet food!??!?!?!!? its easy to forget things, so much to think about, happy you make these videos . TY
Glad to help! It’s easy to over look things
It’s it’s good that you’re thinking ahead about your pets but if it gets too bad you just are gonna be able to feed your pets forgive me but dog food is full of protein and nutrients the animals he better than we do if it comes down to it you’ll have to allow rover and die so you can see the life of yourself and your family.
And pet medicine, vitamins
I live in Canada and I bought a book of maps from Canadian Automotive Association...has all 10 provinces and major cities and USA...
My little Miyamoto (my one eyed rescue feral kitten) has over a year supply of litter and food. Only the best for my little tabby!!! I always take care of the pets. Geez, I interviewed 3 eye surgeons before going through with the eye removal. My entire family preps for their pets. Oh, don't worry we have food too :)
🏆
Awww, bless you! We rescued an orphan feral with eye problems (her eyelids were turned under). She has too many other defects to note, and my vet said she couldn't survive (5 years ago - lol!). She's a fighter! It took two surgeries to correct her eyelids but she has *very* poor vision from cornea scarring. She can see a laser pointer with one eye if the light is near, and she chases belled balls like a crazy thing. She also delights in a box full of crunchy paper. It's amazing how kittens can adapt!
@@gsdalpha1358 That’s so great you helped her! Oh my gosh, my family, friends, and coworkers love my little girl. God puts them here for people like us. I’m so blessed to be a good steward of Gods creation. Thanks so much for the comment and may God keep you and your’s safe.

I have started to cary my daily prescription meds with me everywhere I go now, since I may not get to return home to retrieve them before bugging out to my family retreat.
For communication, radios can be found on other items. Some FRS walkie-talkies have FM radios and NOAA. Older cellphones have an FM radio mode like the Nokia 3100 but some require a headset which uses the wire as an antennae. Some of the old digital alarm clocks can work without power if the have a 9v battery back-up. And if you fish and have a boat, some fishfinders come with radios and NOAA features too.
Good tips
The only thing I don't have on this particular list are maps...I only have Google Maps🥴
Where do i buy a paper map? Im not kidding i haven't seen 1 in years. Can i get 1 at a truck stop
👍Very good advice Thank you for your excellent information United we maybe survive 🙏🙏
I look forward to watching your videos. I’m new to prepping and I’ve learned so much from you! Thanks
More great advice! 😎 Luckily, I have everything on the FEMA list (except the whistle 😮) and, I have a few (pocket-size) suggestions to add. 1) A multi-tool (Leatherman etc.) 2) A feral rod, lighters, and/or waterproof matches. 3) I have manual can openers including the more compact size P-38 and added the newer version P-51 which is longer and provides more leverage. 4) A (cell-phone size) solar-powered battery bank for recharging flashlights, led lanterns, cell phones, radios, etc. the more panels they have the quicker they will charge. 5) 2-way communications can also be very important in a neighborhood. Walkie Talkies, Ham radios, FRS and GMRS radios. Any of those can legally be used by anyone during an emergency. Meanwhile, I'll be shopping for a cool new whistle! haha 🙋♂️
AWSOME
Look in the boating/fishing section of sporting goods at Walmart. It comes on a lanyard, red, kinda flat not round. You want plastic not metal, metal will stick to your lips if frozen or burn if too hot. I spend too much time at Walmart.
@@sixoffive ~ That's a great tip! I always prefer marine or military style items anyways (not necessarily from Walmart, lol 😂) I find they are usually more durable and weather-resistant! Thanks! 😎
My paracord bracelet has a compass, whistle, and ferro rod with striker.

I think good info on currently available maps to get would be awesome !, maps would be critical.. thank you
I would love you to do a video on maps. I’m terrible with them! Thank you

Map reading is a very useful skill to have. Still need to get a whistle & an emergency radio.
I was smart enough to already have everything you named already stored, with extra.. .I know people must know this because if you're a seasoned preparer this was already on your list.
🏆
Yes please! MAP VIDEO!! Thanks for all your helpful vids!! love it! I have everything on the list except the maps!!!! I have the radio but not solar or crank so I'll be upgrading that!
Will do! Glad to hear you are prepped!
Battery operated?
Why would we listen to FEMA ??
I feel as though the show could’ve been done without even mentioning FEMA
You don't need a dusk mask. You can use a simple bandana folded in half. Dust masks really don't help anymore than a bandana.
Thanks for the tip!
I'd rather have a gas mask if we're really talking survival.
Please do a multi maps video
Add a geiger counter and iodine tablets for radiation poisoning duct tape and a below ground or below ground level evacuation situation with a composting toilet or underground shelter with a Swiss air machine....go check out Atlas shelters he'll sell you a pretty good stable one for around 50 60,000

I’m fairly new to your channel. I really appreciate how you present your info and tips. Many preppers sound crazy and I simple turn off. I am going to shop for the flower pot heaters this weekend. I already bought the 5 lb cans of Crisco for long lasting candles. Thanks! Debi in Vicksburg, MS. 🥰🥰
Thanks MS people 🙌🏽
I don’t need to sound crazy to get the piont across- I try to keep everyone one in mind- and figure out how I can get the same info across to help the most amount of people-
I’m sure I will do better sometimes over other times but my goal is to help- being thorough eliminating questions and try to keep everyone in mind- and open eyes and awareness…
😊 thank you- commenting like this is encouraging
Ain't that the truth..It's hard to find prepping channels at the moment that give practical down to earth advice..
I'd like to suggest reminding folks to get their tetanus shot (if needed) because antibiotics may not be readily available - tetanus lives in dirt too
A P-38 or P-51 are great can openers on can keep on one's keys or in one's vehicle.
One can also buy 8 hour glow sticks, sold in the automotive dept in Walmart.
I also have small camping lanterns. The solar lights on my patio came in handy as well before I bought the lanterns.
These are just suggestions, but I do have & use these things for emergencies.
Hope this helps others.
God bless you & us all. 🙏🏻
Stay strong, alert & keep faith everyone!
Ya, and, when SHTF, BIG TIME, the ppl that tell everyone that they are stock piling, those will be the 1st ppl to loose everything.
Just sayin.......

✅ thank you
I don't have a whistle. Not bad for an old broad 😀 😉
😁
MAPS! I have them, but honestly it would be helpful to have some tips on how to read them better! I'm addicted to Google maps directions, and if the map doesn't have my vehicle moving on it, it will take me 5 times longer to get to my destination.🥴
🙌🏽✅
Yes! Maps… would love to hear you go into detail about that. And funny, I bought an extra manual can opener yesterday to put with my canned goods.
👍👌🏽
I think having a map video would be good. I was just telling friends the importance of physical maps. They don’t teach map skills in schools. Tysm.

Ideas on a book that has measurements , weight ,etc? Specifically with milliliter, mcg and mg . Most I see do from milliliter to gallon only. For help in use of meds , chemical water purification and treatment , etc
Recipe books have conversions, but you can try Readers Digest ‘how to do anything’ series as well as used school books.
All available at local used book stores or online used book stores like Thrift Books and Abe Books.
Try your local school district for discard books. Also: book publishers like Elsevier and Scholastic often have books for sale.
Item #11

👍
Yes, a video on maps would be helpful. Like where to get them. They used to be plentiful. Now they are expensive and since I don't travel, I really don't want to fork out much needed funds for "just in case"
Ok 👍
Isn't this list a very very recent addition to the items FEMA recommended some time ago for folks to have in case of an emergency? Don't pull out the tinfoil hats but this list seems full of innocuous items that could reasonably be expected to be included with the items previously recommended. Why re-recommend them now? If they'd come out with a list of unusual or rare things, I might've thought, "huh, yeah, good idea. I probably wouldn't have thought of that." But I just find it curious for FEMA to bring more exposure to the heightened tension currently in the world when both the govt & media seem to be bending over backwards to squash any news that might tend to panic ppl. Which may or may not be the best plan.
It just seems a strange list at an odd time.
Btw, does someone have a good recommendation for non-electric can openers? The ones I'm finding these days are of a cheap and flimsy kind. Even a sturdy looking one from a restaurant supply store did not last overly long.
Swing-a-way is the best. The one Im using is prob 10 yrs old
P 38
My previous swing away lasted 30 years. My new one is of the same quality.
A video on where to get the best maps would be great.

Got it all plus my husband and I just took our walkies to see how far they'd reach..ham radios and regular radios. If you can't use a ham radio because of a license you can still listen! Thanks!
You wont need a license for nothing.
Thank you brother. 😊
I’d like a video on maps please and thank you
I’d love to see a video on maps.👍🏼
Do the map video!
Yes, Maps. As for Comms, I have two mobile Ham Radios and a satellite phone. Hams you need to have a license for everyday use but is legal in case of an emergency Emergency services (Police, Fire, EMT) use hams when cell towers are down. My SAT phone I can use anytime I like when cell towers are down and no license is required.
This is true- but many say when shtf license won’t matter.
@@RiversideHomesteadLife Many people are wrong. 😀 During societal collapse or martial law jails are never empty. Getting a Technician License is fairly easy and cheap.
Ham radio operates the ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service) which provides coordination between police, fire, hospitals, remote rescue teams etc when their systems are incompatible or down. Many ham clubs have local or regional health and safety nets once or twice a week as well. These can be a lifesaver if you are homesteading in a rural area with poor to no cell service and satellite internet.
Cool video thanks. I am in pretty good shape. Been preparing for a couple years now.
