I’m 42, so I got to see it start in high school, and I was fully aware of the protesting parents and WHY they were protesting, as Christianity and religion in general was heavy in the culture, not just in regards to rap but TV like Beavis and Butthead and The Simpsons. It’s amazing he made it being that he was being protested on both sides, because the left and the gay community were also very offended by his music. He is definitely one of the most influential artists of all time, and I’m not saying that just because I like a lot of his music, but because of what was going on in the country when he first came onto the scene. One of his most relevant songs is “White America”.
