LYRICS:
So open up your morning light
And say a little prayer for I
You know that if we are to stay alive
Then see the peace in every eye
She had two babies, one was six months, one was three
In the war of '44
Every telephone ring, every heartbeat stinging
When she thought it was God calling her
Oh, would her son grow to know his father?
I don't want to wait for our lives to be over
I want to know right now what will it be
I don't want to wait for our lives to be over
Will it be yes or will it be sorry?
He showed up all wet on the rainy front step
Wearing shrapnel in his skin
And the war he saw lives inside him still
It's so hard to be gentle and warm
The years pass by, and now, he has granddaughters
I don't want to wait for our lives to be over
I want to know right now what will it be
I don't want to wait for our lives to be over
Will it be yes or will it be...
Oh, so you look at me from across the room
You're wearing your anguish again
Believe me, I know the feeling
It sucks you into the jaws of anger
Oh, so breathe a little more deeply
All we have is this very moment
And I don't want to do what his father, and his father, and his father did
I want to be here now
So open up your morning light
And say a little prayer for I
You know that if we are to stay alive
Then see the peace in every eye
I don't want to wait for our lives to be over
I want to know right now what will it be
I don't want to wait for our lives to be over
Will it be yes or will it be...
I don't want to wait for our lives to be over
I want to know right now what will it be
I don't want to wait for our lives to be over
Will it be yes or will it be sorry?
So open up your morning light
And say a little prayer for I
You know that if we are to stay alive
Then see the love in every eye

Whos here listening in 2024
This song is so deep I never knew. Dawsons creek always made it seem so cheery
Right!? This song has deep meaning. 😢
I thought it was about loosing virginity
Yeah deep meaning for life if you see it's about sexuality but also about time as it fades out
Here's a salute to all the little brothers who didn't get to see their favorite show because their big sisters had to watch dawsons creek.
I could never figure out how the show related to the song
I actually watched the show when I was in my late teens and early 20s. I liked it for the most part, until they did an abrupt about-face and hooked Joey up with Pacey. That ticked me off like nothing else, at the time.
Lmao, on point bro but now I love this song
I had google if the show was actually Dawson’s Creek because I’m too young to remember that show, but old enough to remember Shane Dawson trying to make a shitty parody of it 😅
*CRINGE* my formative years have been ruined, that must be why I’m so ducked up
What was the favorite show of your brothers?
Who's still here in 2024 still listening to the 90's lyrics 😊 ❤
🎉
I even sing this in karaoke. Good song
@@prettykhamla that's wonderful 😊 ♥

❤❤❤❤
2024 and crying 😢😢😢😢 after finally learning the lyrics and their true meaning. It’s about Paula’s Grandfather and Grandmother and family who dealt with him going to War in 1944.
Yes =(
😢
Who's still here in 2023 still listening to the 90's lyrics ❤

Absolutely ❤

Anyone who doesn't listen or REMEMBERS the 90s song or lyrics clearly doesn't truly have a soul for the 90's. I'm here because of "City of Angels" and also I honestly feel I've taken the 90's music for granted and now I'll always remember the 90's and their messages they send. Music today... Hit or Miss. But the 90's Music... Pure Fun, Powerful, and Worth Appreciating.
I never actually listened to the lyrics growing up, and now my kids are listening to this song and asking me what it means. I can't believe I never truely listened.
We were to busy dreaming buddy don't feel bad 😌 ,,, the world was different then and we thought everything would be ok 😊
Well.... you did smoke a lot back then..... 😉
The line "And the war he saw lives inside him still, it's so hard to be gentle and warm." is heartbreaking.
Stop asking who’s still listening to this masterpiece, because i will comeback everytime i need to hear this song❤🎉
Oh my gosh. The world was a lot less complicated then…. The music also lives on. Amazing and nostalgic.
The 90's was such a perfect time to grow up in. I despise with a passion how the news has twisted everything and turned everyone against each other.
Her voice was simply magnificent here. An instrument on its own!
I was in 4th grade when this song released and I loved it and it also became dawson's creek theme song.. Love to reminisce the 90's memories ☺
i hear ya there, com padre.👍
The repeats have a different song now
@@GrowMyBitcoin who are the repeats?
I want to go back to year 90's. 😞

Every telephone ring…
She thought it was God calling her….
😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Translation:
It was Paula’s Grandmother who was afraid that the telephone call she would have received would be a notification that her husband had died… hence God calling her. These are such a profound meaningful line that truly brought me to tears 😢 when I realized that’s the song was truly about. War, pain and PTSD.
Life goes too fast. Over before you know it.
hi guys! any1 still listening to this in 2024?
I’m here 4/8/24 ❤👋
I’m here!! ❤

Because no one knows what the fuck this song means lol.
@@Heath929 really?? You don’t know what it means? It’s pretty clear in the lyrics lol.

Cette chanson me rappelle tellement mon adolescence
Brilliant lyrics I remember the guys that came home from World War II and how messed up they were even met some guys from world war one when I was a kid and they had tales of the Civil War, and what it did in the United States so in the passage of the song where it says, his father and his father and his father, I get it
Wait…. Sorry for asking…. But how old r u?
@@Frostorm777millennials grew up with some WW1 and 2 folks and a very few folks that survived the civil war in our time I think the last survivor died in 06.
@@jthedarkwolfxtreem The last American Civil War veteran died in 1956 but the last WWI vet made it to 2011.
@tsovloj6510 thx for the correction lol had a pro confederate professor who said a person related to the Civil War died in my life time. He's crazy and likes to cyber stalk lol he was the only professor for texas civics so I only got a history lesson from him and who was in office.

moving forward it's easy, but I know malalagpasan ko din to. This song has helped me a lot. (I'm not the one at the losing end) masarap pa din mag mahal ng hindi nanloloko ng tao.
Saturday lang nasa akin ka tapos sunday iba na ang kasama mong babae pinag sasabay mo pa kami talaga, malas naman ng bago mo kase pati niloloko mo na agad. AJTM mag bago kana wag puro panloloko sa mga babae.

This song always remind me of RICO YAN.
Everytime I hear this song, I think of Sarah McLachlan (Building A Mystery) and Shawn Colvin (Sunny came home).
As I was searching this song I was thinking about how my friend and I used to sing this and Sarah's songs for karaoke
I just started a spotify list based off these songs. Thank you, kind internet friend!
