With gilded decks, I've found that if they're clumpy when shuffled, try shuffling it the other way up. So try riffle shuffling with the faces up instead of the backs up. Often it won't clump when you shuffle with the other side up. It's something about how the gilding is applied and/or how the cards are cut. I didn't get the special edition, but I'm super excited to get the standard mass market when it comes out later this year. I've got the indie version and I love it so much I want a back up mass market deck.
I had the best surprise today (5-8-23) this showed up on my doorstep .I don't remember ordering this ,but am so happy I did .Am so excited to work with these decks.

I debated the same thing. I ultimately decided to wait for the standard mass market release coming later this year. The oracle deck not being colored like the Tarot deck ultimately ended up being a deal breaker for me.

I'm also going to also order the Regular Mass Market Version too, because I already know I'm going to Love this Deck and it's going to become a work horse in my collection. After for about 6 min into the video, I went and purchase the special edition of This Might Hurt Tarot. This tarot has been in my wishlist for a while, so I thought this is the perfect timing to get myself a deck, and, paired with a oracle. How nice. Well I was avoiding this like nothing before since I love my indie version but you convinced me other wise, and I hit preorder pretty quicks i have her original black reading cloth, wonder if I could see them together for a double sided, I will keep my indie for me and mm for friends and hopefully clients one day
The thing that sort of made chuckle is I rehomed Liminal 11's Luna Sol because it was filling the same spot as This Might Hurt and now TMH is going to be published by Liminal 11 as well. 😅 I won't be getting the MM version but I do hope that eventually they will publish the oracle by itself later, like what they did with the Citadel deck. It was the exclusive deck for Seed & Sickle limited edition and now its being released separately.
Thanks for the review. I also absolutely love this deck. But the gloss kills buying the mass market copy for me. One of my favorite things about the original is the soft, matte feel of the cards. I will just spend a bit more money and buy myself a backup copy of the indie deck.
Wow, I think I like this version a bit more than the indie. That is certainly a first for me. I do wish the box was a tin like the Seed & Sickle special edition, but maybe they wouldn't have been able to do that gorgeous holographic on the cover which I'm all for. It seems like the cards aren't as thick as the Modern Witch Tarot which is nice. Where I'm stuck is that I want this special edition except I would prefer the non-gilded version of the tarot deck. I really don't need three copies of this deck, but I may purchase both and rehome the gilded version. Otherwise, in my opinion they did an amazing job! Thank you for sharing this walkthrough with us!

I really wish they'd release the oracle as a standalone! I don't need another This Might Hurt tarot deck, and I can't justify spending $100 USD basically just for the oracle deck. Sad to be missing out on this one!
