The most spoken phrase in airline history 'Jesus, JetBlue'.
“Bravo short of Victor Alpha”, seems to be the next catch phrase…..
Serious props to the ATC for being absolutely hilarious and working in the pain that has been induced by one single corporate plane.
In economics it's called "externalizing" costs. Usually it's low pay, environmental damage, or anything else that the government pays for instead, while the corporate just breezes by. This case: wow. just literally fucked up everyone's day
@@clumsiii oh, I wouldn't assume that behaviour is without consequences. Hold short instructions are like a red traffic light. You need to stop. If you don't you might get a ticket. The fines look a bit like the ones for running a red light, the numbers are just squared.

That's the part that got me laughing
I was literally thinking did he really say that for real or was he just joking. He was serious. If I was another pilot I'd be like can I just go on down to the next Rodeo this one has way to much Bulls**t for me. He should have sang the Who are you , who who who who, I really wanna know. All this time everyone on the plane fighting over seats and cabin space screaming where are my scooby snacks. Pilot says relax this is Jet Blue not Southwest
This ATC went home that day and had a nightmare of 200 jetblues
"Somebody didn't do something right." That could be a motto. Also love how he's like "You're unable to do everything in that plane of yours" and you hear laughter in the background. The other ATCs are having a blast watching this.
That's the motto of the entire human race.
We used to have a sign at work. It says "something, somewhere, is not right."
That's the motto with me at work, I swear
@raenfox, yep I spit out my soda when he said that. I bet the other pilots were Cracking up as well
“You can’t just do… you can’t just _do_ that.” My spirit animal

@@rickyjanzen6684 God I love humanity
I love when he asks both Jet Blues a question, and they predictably step on each others' reply.
If you ask 2 pilots the same question like that, of course they are both going to reply and step on each other. ATC-101 ask questions one at a time, it's faster.
I feel for that traffic controller. Days like this must be a pain in the ass. One plane can just screw up your rhythm.
F'ing corporate planes.

You can call ATC a hero. I don’t. This tape shows up the confusion that keeps him in the ground chair
@@NetCerpher never said hero, and you do know that’s not how it works, right.? “The ground chair” isn’t a place to go until you become a pilot! If you’re too dumb to understand what’s being talked about, you should probably just not say anything.
I went to school to be a pilot.. an instrument rated pilot.. then thought about being an atc person.. then as a pilot, I hear all that atc has to do.. and I realized I'm not smart enough to do that... Listening to this, these are extra smart people that keeps our skies safe
To be fair, JFK is an extremely busy airport. There are plenty airports with much less traffic.
Real. Considered being a ATC for the longest time till I figured out what they actually have to do. NOPE
They are very well trained and work up to this level of expertise.
[In my opinion, with a 27 yr career as FSS behind me, this guy is not the best controller I've ever heard or worked with]
If you're smart enough to be an instrument rated pilot, you are definately smart enough to be ATC. If you are kindergarten teacher or a nurse, you also have the chops to do this job.
I know about the last two occupations 'cause we had a professor do research when we were trying to recruit more women. We did suceed in doubling female ATC & FSS, from 3%
6%. But we discovered it's more about public perception and self-screening than ability.
@suestoons As a layperson, I was greatly impressed by the mental juggling this ATC was doing, only for you to say there's even better out there XD.
Also I'm shocked by how few women there are in the field despite knowing how heavily aviation is dominated by men. I hope in the future we're able to get to a point where there is truly equal opportunity. I do find it amusing how kindergarten teachers are apparently well suited - it does seem like being an atco is like herding a bunch of cats through a labyrinth.
Everything you say is right on. I'm glad I remained a pilot. I understood exactly what you meant by saying you're not smart enough to work as an ATC. I could never handle working as an ATC. My hats are off to all of them.
You don't realize that this is happening when you're a passenger. All this shuffling of planes must be exhausting for the ATC people. As a passenger thank you for keeping everyone safe.
It sounds like one of the Jetblues got themselves confused with the other Jetblue's instructions and moved, then other planes followed the wrong one (they didn't know was wrong one) leading to this whole mess. ATC has the patience of a saint. They could have easily caused a problem for the pilot by giving them a number to call, but instead just got things sorted.
Well shit happens 🤷
This made me cry again 🤣😂
I'm not sure if the controller kept the number to himself out of patience, or just because he had no clue who screwed up 😂
Oh man, I can just imagine the controller: face-palming or head-desking, “you can’t… you just can’t DO that” “Jesus, JetBlue.”
All you atc folks- thanks for your hard work and dedication and I hope you find healthy ways to de-stress after dumpster-fire-days! I am always grateful to atc as much as pilots for getting me safely off and on, to and from the ground.
The phrase “herding cats” comes to mind
This reminded me of the Abbott and Costello routine "Who's on first?" It sounded like organized chaos was taking place, and the ATC was managing to keep his composure and even his sense of humor while he sorted it all out.
That's exactly my first reaction!
It's amazing there aren't more plane crashes when you listen to ATC conversations. You couldn't pay me enough to be an ATC. The stress would kill me.
Me too...
Ironically enough, the main reason I am an ATC is because they pay me enough :D
One of the highest paying jobs out there.

it's scary to think these guys get that mixed up; but they do such an incredible job even in the face of pilots not listening and following directions.
That's reality.

@@Missconduct044 There are more hard jobs like that....
@@Missconduct044 Yeah, they should totally earn half a mil a year for failing so miserably. Seems legit.
I watched a vid where the atc had a stroke on-air. For a little while people thought she was drunk. Alone in the tower. The pilots talked to each other and did their own traffic control. Very impressive.
No one in the airport answered calls. So one plane finally called his corporate office who called the airport and someone finally went up and checked on her. Ambulance.
Not her fault. But she hasn't returned to her career, last I heard. I can empathize, thinking when you're in such an important position and you've let people down, it can be hard to get back up on the "horse", as the old saying goes.
Omg, I'm feeling mentally exhausted for the controller.

I feel for the controller at JFK what an awful day! Least he managed to get the planes to wherever they are needed to be tbf and he deserves a duty-free stuff after that!
When I was flying it was always like this in most any large airport. This controller is amazing keeping his cool. Hats off to him.
I'm flying in a couple of days' time and I'm at once terrified and extremely amused to think what conversations will be had between the people in the cockpit and the people in the control tower.

I mean what does it mean to fly a plane? anyone can fly a plane. Passengers land private planes all the time when their pilots go unconscious. Its just the discipline and skill of doing everything in order at precise increments to be a good pilot. Anyone can take off and land a plane at least once and survive.

I AM SO CONFUSED RIGHT NOW!! Thank You!! 😂🤣😂🤣
I worked as a contract security officer during my career I'm retired now., one of the jobs was working at Hartsfield International back in the 90s , and depending on where we were posted in the airport, quite a few of us would have police scanners with the airport operations frequencies programmed in so we could stay in the loop in case something that would affect us we would be aware of it. Listening to this reminds me of what it's like when controllers are having a really insane day especially when they're having a heavy push on traffic. This is what's known as" getting behind" as they used to describe the term at Hartsfield. And this guy is really having a hard time catching up. Is the controller equivalent of shoveling snow while facing into the wind.
Love everybody’s attitude: this goes a long way to solving the problems at hand
A friend of mine worked the tower about a year & quit , she said the pay wasn’t worth the stress. Hearing this & knowing her I get it now. She got married & had kid & started a company from home .
