What is the difference between Bollywood and Tollywood and why are so many languages spoken in India such as Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Urdu, Malayam, Hindi? I always thought that only Hindi and English were spoken throughout India, but apparently I was wrong. (PS: Please don't get me wrong, this is not meant to be offensive or negative, but precisely because it interests me enormously and I think Indian films and music are beautiful and that is why I want to know more about the culture, language, religions of India and the rest of the world ) Greetings.

So India is divided into states based on the languages spoken in that specified region. Southern part of India has 5 states which have different official languages like Tamil for Tamil Nadu, Malayalam for Kerela, Telugu for Telangana nd Andhra Pradesh. Northern Part of India consists of Hindi speaking belt but even the Hindi they speak differs from region to region. So the Hindi language films made are considered Bollywood movies. Telugu films as Tollywood, Tamil films as Kollywood and so on. Hope this helps you..
It was not a hatred we northerns have somehow heard gujrati,rajasthani,bihari,punjabi,himachali but never a south indian language.... So its hard to even listen to it clearly 😞
