she means that once an artist reaches a certain age (25 which is incredibly young) the music industry will sort of “abandon” them in favor of younger artists. basically, it’s a never-ending cycle that favors youth ESPECIALLY in women. sorry if i didn’t explain it well.

I think one of the great charms of TS is that she has this dorky sensibility with no attempts to hide her intelligence through performative "coolness", she feels like a fully fledged authentic person. This is really rare in the music industry. Adele is the other person who also has this trait.....I think this is another key success factor.

I disagree that she’s authentic. Taylor is a multi-millionaire who was outraged enough to use her voice and platform to chew out Spotify over artists not getting enough of a cut from streams (which is fine), but wasn’t outraged enough to call off her fans from sending death threats and racist hate to the Ginny and Georgia actress whom Taylor threw under the bus with a tweet defending herself. (NOT fine). She is very self serving but has a knack for disguising her self-interest as altruism. Used to love her but I’m soooooo disillusioned. Wish she would speak out on things that affect people other than herself.

Respectfully, I disagree. I’m proud of her for her hard work in her creative field but disillusioned by her as a person. I used to be a huge Swiftie but stopped wanting to support her when she tried to silence an op-ed writer with a lawsuit for saying she should denounce her white supremacist fans who said she shared their agenda. That was super shady. The ACLU gave her an admonishing and everything. Why doesn’t anyone ever talk about this?

I think in general, the album an artist just finished is their favorite because that is the expression and outpouring of their current headspace. It is the truest representation of who they are in this season of their life, and the other albums are like fond memories but not as visceral or pertinent to them as the present.

I remember the first time I saw Taylor perform, when she was probably 15 or 16. It was at a little dive in San Jose called the Rodeo Club. No seats, everyone had to stand. There were about 100, maybe 120, people there tops. Taylor was not even the main event, she was just one of the opening acts, and hardly anyone knew who she was at the time. But she wowed the crowd with her fabulous guitar playing and singing of songs that she had mostly written herself.
I would say she has done okay since then.
