Oh man, I just added 16 of the 50 to my to be read list. This list is getting so long, I don't know if I have enough life to get through it. By the way, love the make-up and hair!
Loved these recommendations! Sorry if this is annoying but i wouldn’t recommend delving into a little life before reading the extensive list of trigger warnings as parts of the book are quite difficult to read (it’s still a great book nonetheless ) x
Not annoying at all! I’ve heard about it’s trigger warnings before and am very rarely triggered by anything - I probably should’ve given context to how “blind” I am to the book ☺️
I absolutely ADORED this video, Ashleigh (and not just because of your haircut - it looks really pretty 🥰) I’m drafting my list at the moment so this video was perfect timing! I was struggling to think of a book about books so I will be looking at The Shadow of the Wind now 😊 I hope to be an Assassin Oracle or maybe an Oracle Assassin - I need to decide which goes first 🤣 and definitely checking out The Dollmaker of Krakow too 🤗💜
Aw thank you!! Shadow of the Wind is SO good! I discovered it randomly when I was younger and have been obsessed ever since. Can’t wait to see which path you decide on 🙌🏻
Fascinating group of books. I really like that I had heard of very few of them. Thank you. I have a list of thirty to look about finding to add to my TBR shelves
@@AFrolicThroughFiction do you have any recommendations for a book with magical battles? I literally just finished all of Ilona Daniels' books last month so I'm scrambling to find something for the #MakeYourMythtaker for June!
@@AFrolicThroughFiction This is awesome. I wanted to get started on time so I ended up going for a simple dash through my largest TBR shelf and grabbed four that pretty much fit. First is read. Three to go. I have a rough spread but no character set up yet. I have no clue how to do videos so I'll end up trying take a picture and upload it later tonight. But I can plot other MythTake journeys from that list up there... and they may actually work in the other readathons I'm puzzling through.
I really enjoyed this video, so many pretty books (I'm jealous) and I feel like we really have similar tastes. I could relate to your opinion on The 7 Husbands. I also like how you give the synopsis of each book -- no overexplaining. 👍😊
So many recommendations! I love these videos 🙌🏻 What Would Boudicca Do? went STRAIGHT onto my wish list, it sounds so good 😍 If I’d heard you talking about Shadow of the Wind earlier, I would have got that as my third audiobook with the two Juliet Marillier - but I got The Hate U Give instead, do not all bad! I recently read the sequel to Am I Normal Yet? and found that just as good, the friendships and feminism were amazing!
I just ordered The Dollmaker of Krakow! I had never heard of it before, but the synopsis sounded intriguing and the cover is gorgeous, plus it was less than $3.00 on Book Outlet. I'm even more excited to read it now.
Ooooo it’s a shame my highest rated isn’t actually out yet as I would have read that definitely, it’s also my most anticipated read of the entire year 🤗🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
I love your copy of City of Brass 🤩...green with envy...and with your Nevernight book. I’ve got some spanking bargains....😳😳 holy sh*t not as good as your bargain. That’s fantastic
The Shadows between us was utter shite (in my opinion) if anyone wants that as a recommendation you might absolutely love it and find a great read...I really really didn’t like it...at all.
When I see someone hold up A Little Life I squeal! EVERYONE SHOULD READ IT! My most favourite book of all time (and yes it causes many many tears both good and very bad!) 😭
Hi Ashleigh, I don't usually comment on videos, but I just came across a book you might be interested in and wanted to let you know about it in case you haven't heard about it yet. It's called "Antigone Rising: The Subversive Power of the Ancient Myths" by Helen Morales. I haven't read it yet, but it seems to be close to your interests and area of research. PS: Congrats on finishing uni and getting accepted for your master's (and everything else, of course) :)
Does anyone know if the Shadows Between Us has a magical battle in it? Trying to use it as an extra after I finish my path, but it's also a required read for another read-a-thon I'm doing.
Overhyped books can in this case mean literally any book you see everywhere - things like The Cruel Prince, Circe, Sarah J Maas, The Hobbit ☺️ otherwise I’d recommend looking on twitter under the hashtag to see what other people are saying!
I really want to read A Thousand Ships! Have you read Silence of the Girls - I enjoyed it and I've heard the two compare but I was curious to hear your opinion.
I loved The Shadow of the Wind! Would you say Royal Assassin has a large cast of characters? I feel like the first book did so I'm assuming the second one is more of the same.
I want to read so many of these book, they all sound so good! 😍 Also if anyone has some more recommendations for the prompt to read a book featuring a magic battle please let me know :)
I'm still looking for something for that prompt too. Everything I've seen recommended is either really long or would be expensive for me to try and get hold of.
It might be worth looking through the MythTakeReads twitter page - in the pinned thread we have a resource for recommendations, and searching the hashtag with “magical battle” might bring up other people’s search for the same!
Guys I just wanna suggest a book series that is sooooo underrated and definitely deserves more recognition it’s called the unenchanted series by Chanda Hahn please check it out I promise you it’s amazing you will fall in love once you get to the second book the first isn’t the best but it’s still good but the rest are incredible so please do me a favor and read them because I can’t be the only one that’s in love with this series
Weird that The Hate You Give shows up banned here. Barnes and Noble here which is huge sells it so how weird. Idk if that varies by bookstore? Loved the list though 🙂
A Frolic Through Fiction Haha! You did! I did a whoop 😁. With an Irish accent it can also sound like ‘sor-uh-cuh’ so anything with a hard c is a win for me 😂
So many great prompts, thankyou for putting this together, I never understand banning books, surely that will just make people want to read it more. Plus your only showing how narrow minded you are especially around topics like this
I completely forgot you cut your hair hahah that was a surpise. I love it. This video was the kick in the butt I needed to make my tbr for the readathon.
Your hair looks so nice!
Just about to say that! 😍
Thank you!!

It really is 😍
Happy to see someone recommending The Shadow of the Wind! One of my absolute favourites :)
It’s so good 😍
@@AFrolicThroughFiction it is! 😍 I re-read the series before reading The Labyrinth of the Spirits last year and I'm tempted to read it again now😂
Just bravo for getting through all of these recommendations, this was a mountain of a video 👏🏼
There was SO MUCH FOOTAGE 😂
@@AFrolicThroughFiction And also SO MUCH MESS ON THE FLOOR omg I remember the photo 😂
I really loved this, I put down several books on my wish list. Thanks
Okay. This is the third shout out and my heart has officially burst. I'm overwhelmed. You're such an incredible friend! 💕
💚💚💚
So excited to hear your thoughts on Mistborn!! Oooh I loved House of Salt & Sorrows
I already know I’ll come gushing to you about it considering how much I loved the first 😂
As a Dane it made me smile when you pulled up the little book of hygge, and you pronounced it pretty well ;) I need to get that on my shelf tbh 🤔
Very glad to hear I didn’t mess up the pronunciation too badly 😂
Oooh fun! I love snappy recommendations 💞

Ahhhh reading Zafón in Spanish is one of my greatest pleasures. Cannot wait for this readathon, I'm going for a Gladiator-Oracle
Ah amazing! A gladiator oracle, don’t think we’ve had that mix yet 🙌🏻
Does anyone know if the Shadows Between Us has a magical battle in it? Trying to use it as an extra after I finish my path, but it's also a required read for another read-a-thon I'm doing.
Loved this video! Very helpful :) would any of the other books you mentioned on here work for over hyped? As I've already read Evelyn Hugo

I am always adding books to my wishlist based off of your recommendations. Reading "A Pinch of Magic" right now. 😁😘💓

I loved The Shadow of the Wind!
Would you say Royal Assassin has a large cast of characters? I feel like the first book did so I'm assuming the second one is more of the same.

same thoughts on evelyn hugo
Does The priory of the orange tree have a magic battle scene?
yes!
Weird that The Hate You Give shows up banned here. Barnes and Noble here which is huge sells it so how weird. Idk if that varies by bookstore? Loved the list though 🙂
It’s not banned everywhere - it was banned from quite a few schools in America when it initially came out, and there was a huge thing made out of it!
A Frolic Through Fiction it just so crazy that any book is banned now a days
I don’t think I’ll ever sleep again with all the books I just put on my wish list.
La sombra del Viento ❤️❤️❤️ my favorite book!! 💋💋 From Buenos Aires
Ahhh amazing!!
I really want to read something by Brandon Sanderson but I don't know where I should start 😅
I would say either Elantris or The Final Empire!
The book thieef 🤔😆😉
A gumiho? I thought she was a kitsune?
Every time someone mentions 'Daughter of the Forest' by Juliet Marillier, I'm like 'will they pronounce my name correctly?' 😂 👍
Did I succeed?? I know there’s two different ways to pronounce it so had to google which way the author had chosen 😂
