I've watched all your videos and it's amazing to see the progress. Me and my husband have caught the bug while watching the channel. We've connected so much through this hobby. Thank you MD! 4 tanks later, our dwarf gourami have built a nest and laid eggs! In a community tank!!! (112L)
Your channel is unlike anything else. I just feels real and organic. Other channels seem too edited but you aren’t scared to show mistakes and admit when you’re wrong and I respect that.
pygmy cories are lowkey the most peaceful aquarium fish. not even bothering tiny shrimp they just bumble around full of joy and happiness , always having fun with their buddies and foraging for morsels of food
PYGMY CORIES!! 😍😍 I love them, they are so tiny and adorable! They zoom zoom everywhere, then have a little rest, then rummage around, then its zoom time again! I also love the way they use more of the water column than larger cory species usually do. Definitely a favourite of mine ❤ (Ps good to see the kettle is still pulling its weight and being useful! 😁)
Been watching the channel for a little while now and I'm still amazed by the skill that goes into every tank. I started my first two aquariums recently, one for neocaridina and the other for some ember tetras, but neither are as well scaped as these😅
I adobted the Hobby as I never thought I could afford it!!! (Not entirely untrue) but now I have 3 tanks,!! MD has been my guide throughout, never met the man but I talk about him to other fish Enfuthiasts like I know him dearly. His art is amazing and the lessons he teaches are important.
I have learned so much from you on simplicity of planted aquariums a aqua scaping. I am 59 years old have had planted aquariums for 25 years now. I love the low tech non c02 approach. I have a 75 gallon high tech tank. Very expensive to run. Will be setting up a few low tech tanks. Thank you very much for the videos.
I said to my self 2 years ago that I would close half of my tanks (14) highest being (22) . Well after watching your videos yet again I now have 22 Cory's and have set up another 4 tanks . Thanks for the inspiration and for spending my wages
I know its an older video, but I really love this box of aquatic kittens. Lovely scape. Really liked the use of negative/open space. Interesting visually and showcases the cats all in one go.
Once again, a winner!! Whenever I think you've built your best tank, you outdo yourself!!! I'm going to redo my 20gallon long tank and I'll be using this setup as inspiration. Thank you!! Keep up the excellent work!!
1. Crocs...yesssssss! 2. Usually I enjoy a morning coffee while watching these...but given the time of upload a late night bourbon (x3) will suffice. 3. I wish it was Winter so I could wear my MD TIMMEH!!! hoodie (in Australia too hot). 4. I'm so freakin' excited about the pygmys!!! 5. Thank you, MD, for fuelling my desire and passion in this hobby. Love every video. Keep up the good work! 6. I dub the "wiggly bum" tank!
Hey MD! I think this must be my favorite fishtank/aquascape channel! Mostly because you are keeping it real and show mistakes and all, not just the "bling bling's" :D Been following you for hmm 2-3? years now and like the vibe you give to our hobby and your passion, that you can make beautiful scapes without the massive cost and/or the all the gear. Im doing the same thing; try to show ppls that you can make smart and beautiful low-tech aquacscapes! Keep it up buddy! From a fellow low-tech aficionado in Norway :D ps. Crocs are kinda a low-tech and very a functional shoe, so that works ^_^
You have another winner, MD. Pygmy cories are the cutest fish in the hobby for sure. I have 8 or 9 and they always make me smile. They will love the fungus on the spiderwood once it develops. I placed a new piece of spiderwood in the tank and once it got the fungus the pygmys ate it all up in a few hours. A couple leaves and other botanicals would be a great addition, too. The tannins and other beneficial components will help their immunity since they don't really have scales like other fish so can be susceptible to disease, plus the botanicals develop biofilms that they love to eat. Another great video, take care.
I love cories! I wish I could afford myself a huuuuge tank for a huuuuge group of cories. It is always fun to watch them. They are so active, always busy or communicating to each other, and they all have their own personalities (and I love the way the can move their eyes and "wink" 😁)
Go overboard on a build MD, you, never!! I agree with you that this tank is a winner and I am not even half way through the video. I’ll repeat my basic comment for about the 100th time and that is - you sir are the preeminent tank scraper on the planet and you’ve done it again (damn it, lol). Keep building and I and everyone else will keep watching - in awe!
You have become my aquarium man. Thanks for all the top information. Subscribed. I've been part of the hobby for 2 years and I have had an algae problem from day one. Looked everywhere for advice but yours is the most suitable. I enjoy having the lights on for 10 hours. I'm going to dim the light and see how this affects my plants. Thanks.
I wasn't going to use the mesh bags originally, but I just now ordered them because of what you said regarding reusing the soil. I'm working with a recycled aquarium that needs some repairs to the glass (nothing I can't fix), and it is working for what it is but I'd like to replace it in the future, and not have to redo the entire substrate layer. By the way your videos have also taught me a lot about how to keep aquatic plants alive and thriving while waiting for other materials to set up a new tank. So thank you for that!
I can’t imagine how good this tank after a few months from now The Colorado sand is perfect for this The plants is amazing I’m so jealous So far this is the best tank I’ve seen in your channel
This is my absolute favorite setup. Gorgeous fish & aquascape. I plan to have a cory tank as well and your video helps me see the beauty of having more than 1 type of corys in a tank
Great setup for cories. The tank looks amazing. Thank you so much for moving the buce from the middle of the tank; that was my only critique. Perfect result!
Absolutely beautiful. I have a 40 gallon breeder with 18 pygmy corydoras. When they were new and little (still are ha) I fed them first bites after I fed the rest of the clan in the community tank. They rest on the large leaf plants...so adorable. The baby panda corydora hang out with them while they grow out...it's too cute. Love this tank
*Just recently started getting addicted to watching your channel, since I started you always been crazy over Cory's and I didn't really see why cause they were always hiding. After this video though, I could say this probably one of my favorite tanks I love the way you set it up, so we can always view the Cory's on the sand floor especially when feeding. Its really nice being able to see the different patterns Cory's up close.*
I watch these while illustrating and I love it. I absolutely love the Shrimp videos. No idea why but your videos just help me to concentrate. Keep it up.
Out of all your videos this is my favourite tank set up. I really struggle with plants and have been playing with the idea of using mainly epiphytes with the odd stem plant. This has given me huge inspiration! 👍
Yay !!! you have finally done the cory tank ... I've been so excited to see it come together. I have albino cory catfish and they are my favorite fish... they are in with some platies, cherry shrimp, mystery snail and a bristlenose pleco. This tank is lovely ... you are an artist who uses plants. I love watching your videos from Canada and that you get so excited about what you do and about baby fish (good to know I'm not the only one). It's fun to see your children occasionally when they visit the studio.
You are now my favorite UA-camr! You are so free in your delivery that it makes us think anyone can do what you do. (As an American I’m curious where your accent is from where you don’t enunciate “t” in the middle of words but rather use a guttural stop.) Thanks!
Awesome Awesome..........you are not just a normal person, you are an artiste. You must be the god's own child.........your aesthetics are way beyond......I dont find words to describe your artistry . Just keep rocking as usual. A big hug and round of applause from India.👏👏👏👏👏👏
Quite like this setup with two islands, nice and simple not too many plantation and hardscape. I am about to start with my first ever aquascape, really excited to get on with it.
Lol rigidity test I've done that before 🤣 love this video. Great watching things take shape from scratch. Love how you make things so cost effective so we can all take inspiration from your ideas and not break the bank whilst doing so 😊
I now completely believe and know I could make a very serviceable aquarium stand. I might have added one more brace to the middle but I have complete confidence the stand would support the 37 gallon tank weighing over 330lbs or 150 kg.
I’ve been looking for ideas for my new 37 gallon upgrade for my Cory’s & this is stunning! I’m so inspired! I cannot wait to get their new home going 😁
Best video ever! I been waiting for this build and MD Fishtanks did not disappoint!! I loved watching the whole process and the scape turned out gorgeous. I always love a field trip to Maidenhead Aquatics, and Cory Cats are some of my favorite fish.
I actually really love api products. My favorite declorinator is the api stresscoat. It has honestly saved several of my fish from certain death. Like my betta. He was in a tank with xray tetras but they attacked him. Took a bite out of his head and destroyed his fins. But that was almost a month ago and he is healing perfectly. His fins are slowly coming back. But the chunk out of his head is fully healed. He has started playing with me again like he used too.
Beautiful! I love cories too. My favorite are the Habrosus or salt and pepper. They're small as well with different markings. Very hard to find, but I love mine.
WOW! Epiphytes RULE! Love Trident Java Fern! This tank is A-mazing, and you make it look SO easy! I've always loved API products, but I love them more because they sponsor your channel!
Been watching your videos for hours in the past days thanks to my quarantine. Just wanted to say thank you for your amazing content and heartwarming attitude. Really helps me getting through this. Only problem is now, that i cant leave the house i cannot start my very own project finally! :D Cheers from Germany!
I have a lot of Corys in my MBU tank as clean up crew and if you really want to see a feeding frenzy try the Fluval bites black fly tablets, I have Sterbai, Peppered and Venezuelan living together. Corys are fantastic to watch in large numbers and are so entertaining. You’re going to love watching this tank..
We found mesh bags with plastic zips at Ikea in Australia, assuming would sell them at all Ikea stores. They were only $3 for a packet of 2, triangle shaped but still worked great as u don't completely fill them with aquasoil.
I really love the new Cory-only tank. The only thing I am slightly confused about is that I somehow expected you to use a 4ft long but relatively shallow aquarium to increase the bottom/substrate space for the corys. And not the 3ft (and quite high) one you actually used in this video. Now there is so much unused space in the top half.
I'm getting ready to set up my third tank, a 40 breeder and I'm getting a school of at least 7 sterbai corydoras along with some rummy nosed tetras and I'm searching for aquascaping it. I love this one. I may have to copy you.😁
Excellent! I've never done, or maybe even seen, a Cory-only tank! Great idea! And about the Corydoras pygmaeus, I've got a ten gallon tank that has a few of them in it, and they are now two years old and still as healthy as they can be. Somehow I'd always thought of smaller fish like them living a much shorter time, but these guys, apparently not! Thanks for what you do!
@mdfishtanks Ive been stuggling to scape my 29 gallon for 2 months now nothing i tried felt natural. I watched a ton of your videos 😃 over the last week and this video inspired me to attempt my own seiryu islands connected with some mopani based of of this and it turned out fantastic my gourami and pleco love it . Absolutely unbelievable work you do thankyou for your sharing!
I've started using your aquasoil in the bag idea. After initially having issues because my sandcap wasn't deep enough it works really well now. Thanks for the tip!
What a beautiful tank you’ve created. Cory’s are definitely in my top 5 favorite fish, they’re so cute. I used to come home from work every night and spend like 4 hours pulling Cory eggs out, they were EVERYWHERE. Anyway, fantastic tank!
It's been months of watching your videos that skill and scaping is tremendous I loved it I also started plantation in my 5feet tank that inspired by your Amazon tank tq for your videos and updates
I use like 20 root tabs setting up a tank that size so I can have nutrients everywhere, the packages always say something like 5 inches apart, and I also buy ones higher in nitrogen and iron because they serve a lot more types of plants while still never give root burn to any, also having a large nitrogen store capped under at least 2 inches of gravel is MONEY for growing plants fast. My 2 month old Dwarf Tiger Lotus has grown around 50 leaves since I dropped it in the substrate, and I had to cut about 40 of them because they were completely blocking out all of the other plants with just 5-6 of their massive 6-10 inch pads on top of the water. I can barely keep up with it's growth. It seems like if I look away for a day I will suddenly look at the tank and it is completely dark even with the light on, because all of the light is fully blocked out by lilly pads. It's pretty awesome.
My father bought his first aquarium in 1968 and I caught the "bug" right away. Dad and I ended up with over 20 aquariums between us. The corys have always been my favorite fish. I had about 20 species and learned how to breed them. I had 17 species that I got to breed regularly. So many that my friend that owned a fish shop would buy them from me. She knew that they were healthy and came good conditions. She and husband loved to visit my fish room.
Pygmy corydoras are the best! I have several in a 16 gallon tank with strawberry rasbora and cherry shrimp. The corydoras have started spawning. If you think adult pygmies are cute, wait until you see the babies! Moderately planted, very low maintenance, very few water changes (once every 5 to 6 weeks and only about 15%) no algae issues. Medium full spectrum lighting on a 12 hour timer. Top off for evaporation once a week. Seems to be very stable and well balanced. The shrimp breed like rabbits. This tank is almost 2 years old now.
Hey MD, really enjoyed watching your channel. Your skill is amazing. I tried to learned as much as possible, and I am going to build my first aquascape aquarium in a couple of weeks. Thank you. Happy fish plant gazing! ☺️

Beautiful stuff 😗👌🏼
It is awesome to hear a couple bonding over this beautiful hobby! Happy scaping!
This is my favourite scape you've done so far, Bob Ross of aquascaping
Check out Serpa design and green aqua they are insane too
It’s beautiful. A happy little aqua scape.
Your channel is unlike anything else. I just feels real and organic. Other channels seem too edited but you aren’t scared to show mistakes and admit when you’re wrong and I respect that.
im watching this video on a beach in Jamaica, i gotta tell you md I’ve never been happier.

That’s the fun part: getting better and noticing your progression. Things take time and keeping fun in the hobby is the most important part :)

Yes MD :) I should be either getting a 4 foot or 6 foot tank to my collection. Can't wait to finally put into practice what I've learnt from you!!

I'm finally delving into the hobby myself after watching MD for years now, and this tank is my inspo for the 10 gal I'm getting tomorrow!!!
I can’t imagine how good this tank after a few months from now

Calling a $400 (US) tank "generic" is a proper flex. I wish I could afford it. Your tanks are amazing.
Glad to see the humble, but cute, lil Corys getting their own video and tank!
Out of all your videos this is my favourite tank set up. I really struggle with plants and have been playing with the idea of using mainly epiphytes with the odd stem plant. This has given me huge inspiration! 👍
I'm glad I'm subscribed to a channel where a man regularly hops onto shelves he builds like a frog in his Crocs.

should be going to bed, but I had to stay up to see this.
Really beautiful. You really know how to make each tank an underwater paradise.
Love how you make things so cost effective so we can all take inspiration from your ideas and not break the bank whilst doing so 😊
OMG Bucephalandra Forest! That's what I'm talking about! Yey! 🔥🔥🔥
Absolutely love this tank. A long time wait for an epic Cory tank and it was so well worth the wait. Thank you MD!!
You've outdone yourself again. Luv, luv the scape. Thanks for building and sharing 😀 🙌 🙏 😊
Really enjoyed this build. We too love our Corys! Great work as always.
Well done MD. This is exactly what I am looking for to my tank. What a inspiration. All the best
Beautiful! I love cories too. My favorite are the Habrosus or salt and pepper. They're small as well with different markings. Very hard to find, but I love mine.
I'm from Java, Indonesia, I like aquascape and I'm also proud that Javanese ferns are used abroad
It amazes me that you’re always successful moving your tanks!
U have become a MASTER of natrual setup...super nice tank.
The Pygmy Cories are absolutely adorable. My favourite fish of all. I call them "corydorables". 🙃
Cheers from Germany!
This is one of the best things I’ve ever seen! I am absolutely obsessed with corys. Now I want to do a Cory only tank!
You've taught me and inspired me so much with my tank! You also made me fall in love with Corys. So cool to see a dedicated tank for them. Top work!
pygmy cories are adorable. little bundles of joy
That beta though!
We found mesh bags with plastic zips at Ikea in Australia, assuming would sell them at all Ikea stores. They were only $3 for a packet of 2, triangle shaped but still worked great as u don't completely fill them with aquasoil.
I was just getting into bed thinking I HOPE MD Fishtanks has posted so I can watch something before bed. Perfect timing xD thank you! love corys
aawesome vid mate :) love the plant choices and agree some more sterbai woud be great
I really love the new Cory-only tank. The only thing I am slightly confused about is that I somehow expected you to use a 4ft long but relatively shallow aquarium to increase the bottom/substrate space for the corys. And not the 3ft (and quite high) one you actually used in this video. Now there is so much unused space in the top half.
Not only that but also not going with a fine substrate for the corydora to sift through.
Each time you scape an aquarium, I think wow, that's the best one!! All are awesome.
Corys have become one of my favorite fish because of your channel! I can't wait to get some one day.
Love it, your tanks have made me start to rescape all my tanks. Your ideas inspire me. Thanks MD 😊
Perfect. I'm quit happy you took out the B. Red in the middle
For the background ground I used slates of a old roof. I drew a brickwork pattern on it. Over the top maybe but looks cool. Great channel.
Thank you so much for adding the amazon links for the USA! Your video builds are awesome!!
It's been months of watching your videos that skill and scaping is tremendous I loved it I also started plantation in my 5feet tank that inspired by your Amazon tank tq for your videos and updates
The Sterbai are on of my favorite Cories. Great fish!
Inspiring setup! Great visual impact as well as being very suited to fish which appreciate plenty of open space at the bottom. You nailed it 👍
Breathtaking arrangement.
One of my personal favourite scapes this one, stunning
I am so glad you did a cory tank. Let’s hope they breed now that no fish or shrimp can get at the eggs.
Great work.
The rainbow fish tank is lookin wild , those reds mixed in with the greens look so dope
I love corydoras!! always wanted to have a tank with just them, thank you for allowing me to live my dream vicariously through this video 😆😍
What’s your top 3 favorite Cory?
Another great tank! Love your DIY approaches which yield such brilliant tanks/scapes.
I love Corys so much and this tank is so beautiful!
One of the best tanks you have done withe scape and fish type. Perfect I also love Cory cats too.
