MTU was started as a joint venture between Daimler mercedes and m.a.n. They merged with Detroit and was sold to tognum. I believe the 2000 series engine was originally a Detroit design and had 2x ddec ECUs. It then evolved over the years. The engine in the video is running in half cylinder mode which is why you can hear the knocking. The mercedes om42x and 44x are the same as the early man d28 engines, mercedes had the V8 and V12 version which was marinised by MTU and man had the 10v which they marinised themselves
yes its a 2 stroke and a new one at that!monkeys are fun tom mount to the flywheel l it up! 2 strokes MTU,s are funto torture monkeys with ! A 3516 with a monkey attached to the flywheel is a fun 2 stroke conversion
@@Sebastian_George I wonder what it would be like if you cut a rotax 850 etec port pattern in a cat 3516 for a 2 stroke conversion. I would use and make up an exhaust trapping valves that closes the exh port to eliminate the ugly tuned pipe

Maybe in the ute but you'd need some serious suspension modifications to keep from scraping on the pavement XD XD

I hope it's a 2-stroke like the EMD-engine cos it's music. 4-stroke is just noise. 🔊🎵🎼
A babboon would torture this engine

@@jlo13800 An old 2 stroke diesel engine by EMD from 1960s - 1980s sounds much better than this one for me.
@@Sebastian_George Thats a much bigger 2 stroke than the one shown here in this video. I have an 8v92 silver turbo out back to tinker with.
