  • I've made this video so if I have to quarantine at home again I have more options to watch while training on my ergo.
Session is 3 on, 1 off with 2 minute rest after 4th and 7th effort.
Video with my training group meeting at Ascot Kayak Club Western Australia Tuesday nights

Good to see your videos, but your catch is a bit off, its "blupp" noise means that you r hitting the water (Newton's 3rd law), thus you get air beteeen your blade and the water, so you basically exert more energy with holding the paddle down, after hitting it, instead of catching the water and having an immediate pulling force.
You could try one of the following:
    1) Pull out your paddle by like 0,5 cm or
    2) raise your paddle angle a bit, in order to have your blade turned a bit more outwards, during your catch.
Hope you don't mind my tips and enjoy being on the water. :)

Thanks, do you mean lengthen my paddle?

Hi Brett, yes, you could either lengthen your paddle by feel (little by little, if you have an adjustable paddle), thus you will have a sooner catch and your energy will be forwarded onto the water.

The river has spent the last 6 weeks in flood and while it’s getting back to more normal flow and levels there is still a lot of debris in the water. Our sessions this time of year finish in the dark so I’m not going to risk the new boat this time of day for a while yet. I may also keep doing the majority of my training in the Sail IV as it’s heavier and less stable so good to keep my balance sharp.
