On a sultry afternoon Radharani walks through the meadows of Vrindavan after her bath with water droplets trickling down her wet hair and Krishna following her mischievously . This is the visualscape of the raga that comes in next. As the mischievous play between the Shuddh Nishad and Shadaj keep happening, it conjures up the playfulness of Radha and Krishna. Such is the melodic structure of Vrindavani Sarang that some of its magic has spilled onto celluloid history. One melody that truly brings out the essence is from the 1954 film Dhooli sung by Smt. Pratima Bannerjee as she sings, “Ningariya neel sari shrimati choley” and to present this raga we have Anil, a student of Nayan Sir. He presents the iconic bandish, “Bana bana dhundana” in Teental.
